The bugged side of the Officer's Presence is a pathway to many additional battle points which some consider to be unnatural.

Unfortunately, the Officer class was exposed as "over powerful" in the way of earning too many battle points too quickly by much of the players, then the developers nerfed all of his abilities and weapons in the Officer's sleep. It's ironic The Officer class could save others from death, but not himself.

    So it is said, anyway.
...It is not well known that the truth behind Officer's Presence is buried somewhere deep in the bowels of this very thread.
    Han Solo: "We're gonna win."

    @Spiito I understand that, but...
I know that these things can be upsetting, but it has already been said that they will do something about it in the next patch via tweet.
I visit forum to find things and not to read many threads about the same topic. Nerf that, buff this and when the season 2 starts. It is everwhere. And now DC-15LE thing.

I'm more alarmed than upset. Since the game has so many things that are functioning outside of their intended designations...
Showing me a screen cap of the tweet would be more helpful than informing me about it descriptively, because I don't know what was said or by who. I don't use social media-beyond this site (which I only joined a couple of weeks ago.)
There is a bug in Strike, where you can activate an objective to detonate, more than once, in seconds, without the use of an enemy resetting the object, and earn extra battle points by doing so. That's a bug/glitch. (I just came across this in my testings with the Officer.) That isn't me saying "Objectives need to be nerfed."

There's a bug in jet packcargo where if you press the right bumper... (or was it left bumper...) but immediately press the jump button, you can jump/fly as if you used the skill you just activated, but the skill wont be set on cool down, allowing you to use it to preform it again. (essentially using the same skill twice in a row.)

Most of the bugs I come across are on accident. (I never intended for Officer's Presence to just start dishing out battle points for no reason, just like I didn't mean to struggle with the objective, nor frantically mash buttons to escape...resulting in showing me what things are broken in a way which could be exploited.)

    I just want fixes.

I don't care how much more/less time it will take me to shoot a person down after a gun is nerfed/buffed, or whatever.

I just want the game to work... To function properly... Without me having to hit the A button on the main menu screen all the time, because the game wants to inform me that my rewards couldn't be claimed. (even though, I never claimed anything from any crates prior to the message popping up... repeatedly.)

It's amazing to me how many people are still in denial about this card. How can people not see the drastic increase in points for basically doing nothing? There is a guy in the group I play with that insists, like a lot of these other Officer players, that I am just imagining things and the fact that he went from a bottom of the scoreboard dweller to getting an occasional appearance in the top 5 after starting to use that the Officer with the OP card is just a coincidence. I even told him, watch the scoreboard when you are spawning, why are the points going up if I am imagining things? This guy averages like 5 eliminations a game, hides in the corner the entire match and cheeses points without really helping the team at all in terms of objective play. But when he makes that Top 5, the smug is real, so I think that's why he refuses to see the truth about this card. He gets to feel good at the game 2 times in 20 games, so that's all he seems to care about, and there are plenty of Officers who do the same thing. The sooner they balance this out the better, will be a nice little reality check for people like this.

@Spiito Someone wrote that on page 3 and I blindly believed it without really seeing that tweet. So maybe it truth and maybe not.

EDIT: most / many of the people always plays whats OP. You can´t blame that for that. And you shouldn´t blame the developer, well maybe you should, but it is not that easy to balance a multiplayer game.
Do someone knows Diablo 3 and their neverending path to balance? lol

Majority of people always play what's considered to be OverPowered. You can´t blame them for that. And you shouldn´t blame the 'Devs, well maybe you should, but it is not easy to balance a multiplayer game.

Well, that's just bad practice... but... you do you. *Shrug*

Certainly, achieving balance can be elusive. Buffing and Nerfing things seems to be an endless squabble, but we shouldn't lose focus of bugs/glitches---which can cause a great disturbance in the games balance when exploited. The buggy Officer's Presence (regardless of if it requires a nerf or not) needs to be altered, to at least put an end to the ceaseless battlepoints generated from dead players. Players and Devs will continue to see obnoxiously inflated scores from Officers (running Officer's Presence) so long as the formula remains; Points earned + Bugged points gained = Abnormal score.

Easier solution. Stop points after desrh, give assault 50-100 points per kill with assault training, up defender to 25-100 points per hit, and stealth 100 points a kill.

  • Easier solution. Stop points after desrh, give assault 50-100 points per kill with primary weapon/Vanguard assault training, up defender to 25-100 points per hit depending on how close to the objective/how long he is alive., and stealth 300 points
    per melee kill.

    That would be better imo.

  • Nerf again? Really? I personally enjoy getting more health from an officer. I think teams equipped with officer presence tend to have a higher chance of winning.
  • I agree the rate should be decreased. I mean it is a star card that you have to craft to get the highest rating and when paired with bounty hunter and improved officer command, you get a ton of points!

But I also agree that this card encourages offices to stay close to their squad and the objective to get the most points possible/incentive.

The only thing that is annoying is that people can now get heroes very quickly and then hog them for the duration of the game just trying to stay alive and not pushing the objective with their hero.
  • I'm sure enough people have brought this up already, but I though I'd give my two cents to emphasise that this broken card needs a huge tweak in the next patch as it obviously rewards players with way too many scorepoints and battlepoints than it should.

This simply results in an overpopulation of Officers (as is obviously evident) on the battlefield, and grants weak players who are barely contributing towards kills and / or objectives ridiculous amounts of scorepoints and battlepoints just for being near teammates.

I love Assault and Officer, and find all classes to feel quite balanced overall (the current cooling attachments and explosive shots issue is obviously mucking that up at the moment which I'm sure will also get fixed), but the Officer's Presence card just throws off that balance, as well as encourages horrible players to farm scorepoints and battlepoints which is just sad.

I've used Officer's Presence a solid amount over the past couple of weeks to counter others using it as well as to test comparing the extra points gained and it's clearly evident how broken it is. Get on this for the next patch devs!

How are people feeling about this / has there been any official response towards this issue, etc?

I don't know if I 100% agree on this one. You only get the battle points when you are actually helping your teammates regain health faster. What's more contributing than helping your team survive while attempting to take an objective or giving them that health regin to get those extra kills needed to hold a choke point.

Exactly, It makes GA more balanced and gives points only when you are helping.

Or just reduce the rate that scorepoints and battlepoints are earned through Officer's Presence as it's too ridiculous at the moment, and completey remove points after death.
Nothing else needs to be changed with the other classes' cards (especially Defender which definitely doesn't need to have more points added on top of it)
