Flash Pistol for Specialist

This has been asked for tons of times in loads of posts across the forums (some of them are linked below).

It’s a simple way to make Specialist a bit more useful and fun to play. It won’t affect balance as the Flash pistol is not that strong, and it will have a pretty cool card that is never used, get a new lease of life.

It was originally called the scout pistol and available to Specialist in the beta, but for some reason in the final game, scout troopers can’t use the scout pistol.

@A_Wookie_Roar made a great post about this but it wasn’t responded to by Devs.

    I've really tried hard to like the stinger pistol and try to pull it out whenever we get into close combat with heroes but it's just kind of useless. The ticks do very little damage and while they can stack you have to unload a lot of them. Good luck doing that without getting killed in the process.

    More importantly look at the other two abilities. Shock grenade and repulsor cannon both CC. The stinger does not. So thematically it makes sense to have the flash pistol, which also CC's, included instead of the stinger.

    Being able to blind would be so much more useful than being able to poison.

    True. But the flash pistol does damage as well. It works really well as a sidearm like most other FPS games with sidearms. As a combo to blind would be perfect after scrambler Infiltration. It’s the sort of hit and run tactic that would be perfect for Specialist cqc

    Now that you mentioned it, I wonder how Specialist gameplay would change if they actually had a Scout Pistol available as a weapon, with "Flash mod" and "Stinger mod" available as weapon mods? The 3rd one something like increased ranged damage or something like that..

    I think the flash pistol would make more sense for the specialist. It would be a complement and consistent with the other abilities the specialist has that give crowed control. Since the specialist has DMR type weapons it would give the specialist a close quarter weapons. I don't think the Assault really benefits having it as all its weapons are good at close quarters for the most part anyways and they tend to use Toughen Up or Improved Scan. Since the Assault role is to push the object and to exploit flanks, it would make more since to give a weapon that complements that role instead.

    I would suggest: give the Specialist the Flash Pistol, give the Officer the Stinger Pistol, and the Assault the Homing Shot. I think that would better fit their role on the battlefield.

    That’s a really cool idea. Have a cross class sidearm card that can have different varients with alt fire. Flash, stinger, burst or poison.

  • I recently have been playing blast as specialist. Ya know, for a challenge. Low health, slow shooting, high damage against high(er) health full auto foes. Even officer s-5 has sniper range.

    In this scenario the repulsor cannon is all you want to run. As soon as I spawn I swap to it. Also have shield on cooldown. If I come around a corner and a heavy is close I blast them right away, sending them flying. As they hit the ground (some go like 50 feet lol) I switch to infiltration and finish them off. So fun and works every time. People don't realize how powerful the specialist is already.
