    +1

Terrible analogy guys, first of all, nobody is "demanding" anything, and secondly, in your analogy, the TV would be FREE "six months later" not "half price". So yeah, no.

Anyway, from "EA's" point of view, refunding credits for unlocked heroes would "interfere" with their desire for potential income via selling cosmetic crates for crystals/real money, so that is the reason why ultimately they are most likely not going to say anything on the matter or refund any credits at all.

[bunch of tags clipped out...] et al,

We understand that the no-Credits-for-duplicates issue is a frustrating experience for you. We will get back to you in the next couple of days with our thoughts on this. Thanks for your patience.

    /T

    Thanks for the heads-up.

Please keep in mind that "hang in there" is basically all we've ever heard about this bug, aside from some questions to get us to prove it even existed. Some people are pretty frustrated by now. This really should have been jumped on with the same intesity as matches not giving credits, or the milestone bugs, as it's all progress-related.

I hope that as you discuss this you keep the progress aspect in mind. My classes are all short on cards because of crates I can't purchase. No amount of cosmetic credits for fancy new hats is going to compensate for cards. Any time I spend in the new progression system has to first spend time catching up to where I should be without this duplicate credit issue - and that includes getting levels up to the ability to buy rare/epic that maybe I would have had already unlocked.

We really need skill points to get our cards up to the amount we earned. (I believe 1,000 credits convert to 1 skill point would be the exchange rate.)

    thanks

I will simply say that I disagree. And that we were encouraged to spend all of our credits by the devs/forum staff, and told that we were basically selling ourselves short if we hoarded them.....but that's neither here nor there. I would bet the zillions of people who gave EA the most downvoted comment in reddit history would agree with me. Your "Why" questions don't make any sense, and show a fundamental misunderstanding of what I'm saying (if I hadn't unlocked heroes, why would I be asking for my credits back??).....and as I said, you have zero incentive to step in disagree with paying customers who are asking for a need to be addressed. other than a desire to suck up to the devs, as I see you went out of your way to reference them all.

They should be commended for participating in the community, but it's highly unlikely that any of them have the final say in what we're asking for them, so your show of solidarity is likely misguided. Just like it wasn't their idea to base the whole progression system on frustrating your users into microtransactions....

Still, that's where we ended up, so I'm simply asking for them to complete the task of retroactively undoing the grind for past players, the same way that they are undoing the grind for future players. Is that really so hard to understand, or do you still want to argue on the internet about an issue that has zero effect on you?

I'm not disagreeing about the state of the system that was put in place. I'm not arguing for or against its fairness, Reddit notwithstanding. Simply put, you didn't answer my question, viz. the difference between 10,000 for Luke in November and 10,000 for Iden/Tallie in February. The answer of course is there is no difference, only in your perceived value of time.

Thank you for determining I am sucking up to the developers, as though that earns me anything. I suppose you are simply biased against the developers and are going out of your way to stand against them and demand something back for misplaced loyalty? Or is it just an opinion, and mine differs, and neither of us is sucking up or biased against?

You being a paying customer has zero bearing on whether I can disagree with anything on an internet forum. I expressed an opinion. Sorry you didn't like it.

I understand what you are saying perfectly. I hope that I have expressed myself clearly enough that you have some understanding of what I have said.

Again I reiterate: If they decide to refund you, I'm not going to say a word of complaint about it, because I will benefit as well. But you were the first to respond to my thoughts on the matter. So if you'd like to stop arguing over a non-existent balance of virtual currency later to be exchanged for graphical representations of unrealistic matter in a form of electronic entertainment... be my guest.

Again, you don't seem to understand what I'm talking about (or remember what the heroes actually cost? Do you actually play this game? :p). I'm not talking about time, either. It's very simple, and I've explained it a few times now.

I don't have anything against the developers, pretty sure I've said nice things. However, I don't have any of their names in my sig.

  • Hey EA/DICE:

So, as the Credits are being used for non-game related items starting, pretty much, tomorrow, some of us (ie: me), just went through and blew a ton of Credits this week on unlocking all the locked Heroes as Sledgehammer70's post didn't mention a *very* key detail that is only found in the FAQ, (which is even less noticeable to those of us on consoles that don't frequent these forums):

"Q.) Will I still use Credits to unlock Heroes and Hero Starfighters?
A.) With our Progression Update, we will be unlocking all currently available heroes and Hero ships for all Players. When new heroes and Hero ships are introduced to the game they will be unlocked with Credits."

Had I known that, I would *not* have spent my Credits on unlocking the currently locked Heroes and would have saved it for Crates or for the April update. I feel this is a major rub in having such a key detail tucked away in a FAQ on a separate page. Will EA/DICE address this issue and give out any refunds to those of us that essentially just wasted thousands and thousands of Credits on needlessly unlocking Heroes? Thanks.

You know.....what you just said perfectly sums up why they should care more about happy customers, rather than being stingy with the above.

@KillerAero13 The cost in Skill Points will be linear, i.e. 1+1+1+1, for a total cost of 4 Skill Points to take one Star Card from not owned to Epic.

Can you expand a bit on your crate question, as I am not 100% sure what you mean. I will try to find an answer.

    Thanks!
    /T

Really? Great, now I have been on the losing end twice.

Not only was I gifted with the "duplicate star cards to not give any credits" bug for weeks now, severely hindering my progression. But in anticipation of the new progression system I spend all my saved credits on crates and then all received crafting parts to upgrade my star cards to higher levels (usually blue or purple).

Apparently that was a mistake, because an epic upgrade of a common card cost me 80+120+480=680 parts, whereas the new system only requires 3 points to get from common to epic and since the conversion is 40 parts = 1 point, I could have upgraded to epic 17:3=nearly 6 times.

So I missed out on 5 (6 minus 1 card I received) epic cards per upgrade to epic performed.

Why couldn't you communicate this important piece of information regarding processing in the in-game link?

I read all official information about the new progression system and still I made a grave mistake. I am sorry to sound ****, but EA really knows how to upset their customers.

On the one hand your are invalidating all credits by turning them from a currency for progression into a purely cosmetic currency. And on the other hand you are making crafting parts 6 times more valuable (who would have expected that???), but that is only revealed after someone asked the right question here.

We are in the same boat. My special class will never go up cause I really not a fan of that class. Which means my officer (who punches light saber hero’s to death) the officer is nice and high

But I worked my fingers off to get all the crafting parts like I did the same mistake. I calculated I had worked up 41 skill points. To me I thought it was low. But my guess I might not spend them when we get to April. But I learn I got nice free star cards with rare which was pure luck, I saved all lot on crafting parts which I stop buying.

Maybe you need to work extra hard and if you can sacrifice the time to do it. Do it.

I worked hard all last month JUST to get the unlock guns, the specialist will never see that day cause I not into that class. Unless I decide to go be ninja and punch people. Which I get more kills that way. I got up to 10 kills just from punching. I even killed a few hero’s that way too.

I am not the best player too. I am after a 48 year old lady. Level 42 and still get my butt beat. But with my own game style I some now make it the top 5 players on my side and sometimes I get up to 3 rd place in Galactic Assault. I am a lone wolf with no friends to play. So I guess I a, pretty good for my age. lol

    I am a 45 old ;) lady, Shark-Mami, can we play togheter ?

We get 45 plus lady unit beat up these youngsters lol

    Two players on different teams....

Cool down Turbo. That's bad math and not everyone played battlefield 1. Plus I highly doubt they had a trade in for parts for different points 5 months into the game....

If you don't have anything to contribute to the discussion don't bother to post mate. Almost all the relevant information is already on the FAQ, we're not posting to explain anything, just to help people decide how to best prepare for the new system.

But at the moment of trading in, I can divide parts (Skill Point) for different units???

Ah, so players won't be able to bank some skill points to save for future heroes.

This can't be right. Once the progression update is live tomorrow, ALL your Crafting Parts should be able to get converted into "universal skill points". You can assign skill points one by one to a unit/hero of your choice "at your own leisure". Nothing prevents you from hoarding those Crafting Parts/skill points until a new hero is released. Heck, some people may even have more skill points that they can even use on day one, due to the revised level requirements to upgrade star cards.

You could already do that with Crafting Parts: for example, you could use CP's to craft star cards for Finn/Cpt. Phasma when they were released. I see no reason to think otherwise.

This is how it will work:
    1) You are in the screen for a particular unit
    2) On that screen, you can trade 40 Parts for 1 Skill Point for that unit

Given this flow, there is no such thing as a truly universal Skill Point. You can however choose to hold on to your Parts for a later time if you wish.

@trydling I have just now read through the thread, and hence for the first time become aware of the trade-in ratios for crafting parts. I must say I am quite shocked that this was buried in the forum and not mentioned at all in the main announcement, or the FAQ.

I play on Xbox, so have only read the announcement. I assumed that crafting parts would become worthless once the patch goes live, so I spent ALL of my crafting cards on upgrading from rare to epic.

All in all I upgraded 4 cards over the last few days, that is 4 x 480 crafting parts.
3 of them on my enforcer which is now level 18 (will be 19 post patch)

Really disappointed that apparently I could have gotten 48 level points for any class for those 1920 crafting parts (and that is only for the epics, I upgraded many to rare too on the heroes). I don't believe I'm the only one.

That being said the progression seems a great step in the right direction, but this is such a bummer right now.
  • Will you guys be increasing our level ranking as well like from 50 to 100? SORRY IF THIS WAS ADDRESSED ALREADY

Actually the insanely favourable conversion rate wasn't.

What I am trying to get at here is that I am now quite concerned about the fact that players that did read the announcement and saved their crafting parts can get purples far cheaper than either under the old or the new system. Thus there is a huge conversion bonus for those 'in the know'.

    Q.) What happens with Parts?
A.) As of the Progression Update, Parts will no longer be awarded. You will keep your current balance, and in April you will be able to convert parts into Skill Points (at 40 Parts per Skill Point). Player’s Parts totals will be rounded up so that players will not be left with unusable Parts.

I'd like to know the same as well. Is it based on time played, score, or BP? Will using bounty hunter accelerate leveling? If it's time based we may see a return of AFK farming.

  • Hi @trydling

Just some quick feedback on the duplicate credits issue....

I've downloaded the new patch and the system for reimbursing lost credits appears to have worked correctly in my case. I received 115 000 additional credits when opening the cosmetic crates, which is within my estimated range of lost credits (at the lower end). Also, all of the cosmetics received were duplicates of things I already have, so I received 1000 credits for each which, thankfully, were also credited to my account correctly.

I look forward to hearing your feedback on the bug overall in the coming days. In addition to your thoughts on how it has affected our progression, it would be nice to know (just out of curiosity) what you think caused it in the first place and why it was so difficult to rectify for all players. I assume it was something quite complex, as it seemed to affect random people across all platforms, sometimes in slightly different ways if the forum posts are anything to go by....

As for the rest of the update, I've not yet played multiplayer, but the patch notes look good to me, broadly speaking. Also, compliments on Bespin and the updated UI, both of which look very nice indeed! A tiny nitpick with the UI - it would be nice if the unit ranks were coloured to reflect the level of star card you can upgrade, as was the case previously, but this is hardly game-breaking I know ;)

Thanks to the team for all your hard work. I'm looking forward to the game going from strength to strength.

Wow, you are - in all the discussions I've followed so far - only the 2nd person that acknowledges that the Patch 1.2 did in fact solve your duplicate card problem and gave you back your lost credits on top of that.

I wonder why the fix only helped very few people and the fast majority of players affected by the nasty duplicate bug did not benefit from it at all. I can understand why the issue wasn't fixed, but the catch up in missed credits should have been quite easy to determine. Anybody with a different character rank in the main menu and the starting of a round (like for example the assault trooper) was definitely affected by the bug and should have been included in the compensation routine.

It all was said in FAQ. You are not the only one but a rare one yes.

The FAQ said only, that crafting parts (CP) would be converted into skill points at a ratio of 40:1.
It didn't say anything about the fact that the amount of currency needed to receive an epic card was dramatically reduced from 40+80+120+480=720 crafting parts to only 4 (four!) skill points.

Before spending your crafting parts on only a few selected star cards was a smart strategy, because the chances to get a card unlocked at the lowest level in a star crate was quite high. Even green star cards pop up often enough to have a good chance to get your star card by just buying a crate. Blue cards were by definition quite rare and Epic cards impossible to received, so it would make sense to spend your CP preferrably on rare and epic cards and hope to unlock the rest via crates.

Now in hindsight and with the new system it was ****, because for every epic card I unlocked investing 500 CP or more (500 CP = upgrading an already green card to epic), I could have waited, converted them into >12 skill points and then uprade at least 6 green cards to epic cards. That hurts, especially if you spent all your saved CPs recently after reading the FAQ, but not knowing about the important detail about the 4 skill points for an epic card only mentioned here in the thread.

That is what I meant with "EA could improve tremendously regarding their communication" in my previous post:
That epic cards are so much easier to unlock now should have been communicated prominently in the FAQ!!!

@trydling : So what is your advice regarding what we should do with these credits?

Should we just keep them so in case whoever is making the decisions for this game at EA finally understands our problem and is willing to compensate us with something actually useful to rank up our star cards, how do we prove our eligibility for that swap from "compensation credits" to skill points?

I will definitely make a screenshot first thing today when booting up my Xbox and having received all the compensation credits and I am not really interested in any cosmetics, but what happens if I buy a fancy outfit for one character just for the fun of it? Would that be lost as a calculation base for skill points?

    Any advice is highly appreciated.
