I dont think the new squad mechanics would be fair in cargo. It was bad enough with the partner spawns.

Why not? If you're in combat you can't spawn on your squad mates.

  • Well it took like a year to get skins for the first order so maybe this time next year for real cargo?

Our only hope for that is getting the other players on board with us and keeping this thread alive, or making a new thread.

  • I would like a mixture of the strike maps and the maps from the original. I just loved how competitive it would get, the t-bagging, emoting, hate messages I loved it. Strike just doesnt really feel that competitive.

I would like more guns for each class to choose. That is one of things the updates has been missing, but I am off point.

its never coming back. this thread is our only way to live vicariously through cargo. its still alive in our hearts.

It will be in memory. Cry not in grief, Cargo is no more. But live in thankfulness that it was.
I’m still not sure why they created Jetpack cargo (with only one cargo and tons of rocket launcher spam :expressionless: ) and totally ignored the input of this community and others on Reddit.

I would have a reply to that question but I'm afraid it probably isn't appropriate for this forum.

I guess mainly somebody made a mistake, but only we, the original cargo lovers, know that they made a mistake. And there's not enough of us, despite the excessive largeness of this thread and threads on Reddit.

I suppose we could keep posting on this thread so they at least see it still. But at this point I feel like they're only gonna work on heroes, maps, that conquest-like mode and who knows what else. I love the squad spawning though.

Imagine that you've stolen the cargo, switched on your vanguard and are booking it to home base, and you're far enough ahead of them just barely for your squad mates to spawn on you, those guys in pursuit are in for a surprise!

Wish we had original cargo. I never got around to making that Reddit post about original cargo. :(

    Edited for typos

Yeah I can imagine using vanguard or infiltration to run with the cargo or run to the cargo. I can also imagine no enforcers and maybe even no aerials. No worries about not making a Reddit thread... I’ve seen many when the game first announced no cargo would be around and those didn’t do anything anyway.

I’m sure DICE thought they could create a weird mashup of Dropzone and cargo.... kind of is yet it misses the mark by a long shot as there is only one cargo dropposes randomly in the game. Also the travesty of making everyone aerials with quick refreshing rocket launchers to make it some kind of ridiculous party game that no one wanted to party with.

Rebel depot was great... gazoan badlands was cool. Really all the maps could be made for this game and would breath new life into BF2.

It's strange to me, that they didn't bring back what was probably the most loved game mode from BF 2015. I played for the first time in months about a week ago, and was sort of surprised to see several names I recognized from when I used to play Cargo a lot. It's pretty much the only thing holding me back from uninstalling that game on PS4.

I am tempted at times to go back to swbf for cargo, but my gaming partner isnt in the same time zone any more and I think the speed and fluidity would present a learning to curve to get back to where I was. Just port the game mode over and dont do that silly jet pack cargo.

So, I kinda commented here for the heck of it, but I decided to replay some 2015 Cargo. It was both the most fun and frustrating experience I'd had in a long time. 2 Space-holes were on one side for most of the game and made it a nightmare, but wow. I had one run with those two goons hot on my tail, with most of their team in the Sullust Hangar ganging up around one of the entrances to our spot. We were 1-9 (it was not my best game), and against all odds (as well as with a dose of Bacta and a Personal Shield) I brought the Cargo in the our base after what felt like dozens of failed attampts.
... We still lost, sure, but it was such a pure experience, and I want it remastered for BF2 for sure now.

There's a whole bunch of people on my friends list who played nothing but cargo. The lack of that mode in the sequel helped them to lose interest quickly and they have moved on to other games. I would love to see them return, but it would need cargo and a whole bunch of hard work which I am not entirely sure EA would put into a game that is over a year old.

Disney’s role in this is Overseeing EA and working with them towards approvals for Content & Content Tie in’s (Movies/Shows).

EA’s workload is PR/Advertisements along with Overseeing Dice and what they tell Dice they can and can’t do and when to do what they can do.

Dice’s workload is to do the best they can do for us as the players while being overseen/delegated by EA. They have a schedule of content to adhere to that is cleared/greenlit by Disney/EA.

    TLDR: Disney>EA>Dice>Us

How about please bring back 15 in general and start expanding upon it, it’s far better and more competitive imo. It’s kinda odd that every good player I know dumped this game for some reason. Imo I think for some this game is easier to be good at than 15.

I agree... the skill level of the average player in BF15 seemed to be higher. I know because I definitely wasn’t as good in BF15 and now I’m one of the best players on each server... lol. It helps my ego, I guess

I played recently... I don’t like the game physics as much since I’m now more used to BF2. But it was still fun to play the objectives we’ve been asking about

Haven't played for a while. My cousin was the main reason I play it, but he threw away his BF1 and BF2 cuz he had no self control. So now I'm less motivated to play. I had souch fun playing it with him.

  • How would cargo come back? No jet packs? That was a big part of cargo in bf15 hence why I think they used rocket troopers for jet pack cargo in bf2.
I could also see it just turn into a specialist infiltration and shield fest. That doesn't sound fun at all.

I think the amount of work required to do this (when it takes like a year to get a new skin) makes this impractical.

I don't know, they managed to adapt DropZone into a mode called Supply Drop on Battlefield, obviously no jet packs and it's an absolutely amazing game.
But yeah, looking at the rate content is delivered I don't think it will ever happen

  • Go back and play BF15, what are the two games you can get into? Walker Assault and Cargo, what does that tell us??!
With all the calls for more content surely a simple solution would be to use the existing maps and put in the Cargo mechanics.
  • Cargo is awesome! Bring it back! No jet packs, no enforcers, and all 4 trooper classes.

I don’t think the specialist/bubble will be that big of a problem. The bubbles were also in BF15 and they are both in Strike currently. Strike works fine with them

I don’t think JetPacks are really necessary. I rarely used a JetPack and did just fine in Cargo. You also couldn’t even use the JetPack while you had the cargo.

Some of the maps I found the JetPack to be just a detriment.

Agreed. I never used a jet pack in BF15, and did very well in cargo. They aren't a necessity for the mode.

Totally agree DropZone and Cargo will both play fine without JetPacks, it just takes decent map design. The Squad System will make sure the pace of the game flows along at a decent rate.
I'd keep Enforcers out of it too, winning Strike by just hurtling over everyones head with the Rocket Trooper is just way too easy. And it would be nice to have a game mode that's dependent on Infantry skill and team work, rather than how many Wookies you have.

To slow imo without packs on drops zone, this game already plays at a snails pace imo. Again, I think Cargo is absolutely fine with no packs, but leave dropzone dropzone, enough has been done to cater to scrubs already in this game imo.

I would have said exactly the same thing until I played Supply Drop in Battlefield 1, that mode on it's own is better than every single game currently in Battlefront 2.
It's difficult to imagine until you've played it, but it massively works.

Quick weapon advice because I wish someone had told me what to aim for first. You'll have your own play style so different guns might become your favourites but these are really solid weapons while your finding your way.

All the starting guns in BF1 are really strong but as you progress.

    ASSAULT:
SMG 08/18 Factory- Best CQC gun in the game, lethal up close, recoil takes a bit of practice but it's a beast once you get the hang of it.
Ribeyrolles 1918 Factory- Good at everything, strong CQC but it's got the best range so you can hit medium and with it's bi-pod long ranges.

    MEDIC (Strongest Class):
Auto loading 8.25- The God gun of BF1. You can spam the trigger so it shreds people up close, but it's got virtually zero recoil so you can hit medium ranges no problem.
Mondragon Storm- Long range, medium, even up close it's pretty good. 10 shot round is it's only weakness.
Farquar Hill Optical- Monster weapon at almost any range, no weaknesses that I can see.

    SUPPORT:
Parabellum Low Weight- Lethal in CQC, insane recoil but if you master it this is a bit of a God gun.
lmg 08/18 low weight- Similar to the Parabellum, fires a little slower but easier to control at range.
ChauChat- No recoil packs a punch, good at any range
Huot Automatic- Massively underrated gun, great at any range, no recoil, but a level 10 unlock

SCOUT: Not my best class, I like to PTO. I'm not skilled enough to offer the best advice for these guns but I really enjoyed the Russian 1895 Infantry.

Let me know what you think of Battlefield and what games modes could cross over to BF2.
    Have fun

Apologies for taking the conversation away from Cargo.

Probably right man. The 1st one is just a different game, it plays totally different and jet packs are a big part of that game, no way around it. Also in a drop zone with no jump packs I feel like there would be an unlimited amount of grenade spam on the pods non stop. Ttk is also sooooooo much faster, it’s really no comparison, again a totally different feeling game mechanic imo.

I would still like something, but I kinda feel like this game would just water down a good mode and make it feel second rate.

you mean like jetpack cargo? You know I think the least they could do is add regular troopers minus enforcers to jetpack cargo and then make it so there's 2 cargos instead of one.

If they would have only left out the word Cargo from the modes name it might not be so cringey to me.
