A Beer Drinkers Guide to Galactic Assault

First off a disclaimer : Drink Responsibly 

After indulging in a few beers while playing some GA I soon started to realize normal strategies and play styles were not going to continue to work for me the more I continued to drink. As I had started to dwindle down the leader board I altered my play style, this guide represents my journey back up the leaderboard while continue to enjoy frosty cold adult beverages.

Classes (in order of effectiveness)

Heavy = You really need to think in terms or AOE damage, your accuracy will get worse and worse. So I went with the DCL15E , exploding shot does splash damage .. barrage, impact grenade and either supercharged sentry or explosive sentry (to be honest the stationary position of explosive sentry you would think would help, but it actually kind of throws you off.

Officer = Officers Presence, Turret, Officer Buff of your choice , none of these things require you to actually hit anything (which is good) Weapon choice, there is only one SE44C , you are going to need A LOT of bullets.

Assault = FORGET ABOUT VANGUARD , on the surface this seems a natural fit. You are feeling good , got a buzz , lets charge some foos … This ends badly 95% of the time, just forget vanguard is even there. Once again think AOE damage ION grenade is great because even if you totally miss your target it sits there active for a few seconds like a drunken trap. Weapon choice here CR2 (once again , you are going to need LOTS OF BULLETS)

Specialist = Only really viable on maps when enemy vehicles have spawned. Nt242 and disrupter shot , aim for the largest vehicle, the bigger the target the better. Other than that , umm not much else you can do..

Map Tactics

Any map that has ION disrupter objectives , PLAY THE OBJECTIVE , because you can still hit the broad side of a barn this is right in your wheel house.

Any map that has the possibility of falling off .. play FOR AWAY from the edge , in your state it won’t take Luke to knock you off but a few misplaced steps

Hero Selection

Only two viable choices here

Light Side Rey = Use Insight , stand behind cover, Use insight more, You may feel brave and try and take out a villain or two , but pick your spots the other person most likely has not been drinking and will only be fighting one of you. While you are fight two of them.

Dark Side Vader = Just Buff up and hit people with your light saber , also throwing the lightsaber has such a large range/aoe that it’s also an option.

Tend to find going to the pub for a few before playing and maintaining a steady stream of Gin n tonics during game play works great, though cant hit anything when sober, so tend not to be. Usually always need to top up my drink right on re spawn which is weird.
Love doing SFA whilst inebriated, find i can dodge the debris better, and great scores just by shooting the middle star ship (LOL).
Drinking and flying, gotta watch out for the Fuzz.

  • LOL I have to try SA out next.. Space Cops beware!
  • Lol, been in this boat a few times! My K/D plummets and I start wondering how the game could be so broken ;) I usually just run officer and find someone to be their guardian angel. Either that or I just stand there...swaying.

SA is usually just as bad, for some reason I'll pick up the ONE enemy that wants to chase me into oblivion so I feel like I spend the entire match dodging and evading. I love tie bombers and the fire/forget missile barrage at that point because there's a whole lot of forgetting going on!

Only way i can keep up with the constant in game LAG is to be drunk it all fits together then.

Never thought of that , this may actually explain my rise back up the leader board the more i drank :)

Haha, I definitely get in a 'zone' of having to switch from specialist to heavy using sentry mode
  • starting recently, in order to cope with being a lowbie and getting mowed down repeatedly I've been going through Aguila (Colombia's watery South American lager) one after the other. My wife isn't so fond of me then lobbing empties across the apartment like thermal detonators hoping to land in the sink or the trash...

Actually had some "success" (middle of the board or higher) with Heavy.

  • Lets keep the posts short a sweet please my old eyes (84) don the like reading that much. But the game really has spectacular graphics. My 10 year old grandson Is really good (up to 300bp). ALSO KIND OFOFF TOPIC BUT I LIKE ME A GOOD BUDWEISER EVERY COUPLE OF MINUTES. ALSO NEED HELP ONLY CAPITAL LETERS SHOWING UP. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.

Lmao, you got that right KD_Trey5 B)

I tend to stress less when drinking so it makes for a slightly more relaxed experience
  • great post!
  • Sound tactics! As a fellow beer drinker I approve :)

I play SA first, when the buzz is first approaching. Have some really good games in the initial stage o:)
After a while I have to stop SA as I start hitting too much debris...

Tried Ewok Hunt, amazing, a game where i couldn't see them drunk or sober, thought my booze had made me go blind looking into the darkness. So stayed drunk just for the fun of it, the sound of splashing water and the water fall itself, kept making me need to Pee, then top up with booze, then Pee then top up, rinse and repeat.

Just realised, killing small fluffy animals whilst drunk would be an arrestable offence. Found melee the most effective method, like clubbing baby seals to death. Oh no drunk again, did i say that out loud.
