Order 66 Game-Type Suggestion (UPDATED)

Hello there! Quite a while ago, I made a suggestion for a new game-type that I had imagined would have been really fun; Order 66 - a game-type where there are two teams: Republic and Jedi.
Since it's been a long time after the Beta, I've decided to write a new, updated article on this matter.

Once again, this suggestion is being made with a Jedi Temple map in mind. With this being mostly inside the Jedi Temple (with the front stairs being one of the few places outside), this is going to involve a lot of ground-based combat.

To balance things out, the game would have to be 30 vs 20
(Republic would have 30, and Jedi would have 20)
To win, you would have to eliminate the other team (like in Blast) while completing/defending various objectives (capturing a Cargo-like Holocron, capturing Control Points, downloading Jedi Archives, placing Explosives, etc.)

With these objectives in mind, this could easily be a part of Galactic Assault or Strike - however, I'd imagine you would have to make a new game-type in order to balance the teams and create new classes.

Speaking of Classes, I will now list the Classes for each team:

Republic:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Republic would have all the Classes seen in Blast, with a few new Classes to spice things up a bit and keep in interesting. They would have a blue colour palette, because they are the 501st.
The new Classes are:
• ARC Trooper: (Edited) When this post was originally made, there were no ARC Troopers. It would be perfectly fine if the ARC Troopers used were like the ones in Capital Supremacy. If you wish to read my original ideas, they're just in the spoiler below.
• ARC Trooper: This Class would wield two DC-17 Blaster Pistols (hold down left mouse to constantly fire). This Class would look just like Captain Rex. Combat Rolling would also be more effective for this Class, as they're highly-trained commandos.
Star Cards:
1. Charged Pistols – Something like Han's Lucky Shot from SWBF1.
2. Sharpshooting – Much like Han Solo's Sharpshooter Star Card, this Star Card will allow the user to shoot their Blaster Pistols rapidly. The difference is that the ARC Trooper will shoot faster (as they have two Blaster Pistols) but they’ll do less damage.
3. Ysalamiri – A buff that temporarily makes the user immune to Force Powers, but weaker against physical attacks. While active, the user will give off a faint yellow smoke. The Ysalamiri is canon, as it can be seen in Grand Admiral Thrawn’s office in Star Wars: Rebels, and this will help to restore another piece of Legends material.
• Galactic Marines: This Class would wield a WESTAR-M5 Blaster Rifle, which would behave like a
TL-50 Heavy Repeater with a few minor differences.
Star Cards:
1. Stouker Concussion Rifle – This is another weapon from the Jedi Knight games. It’ll be a timed gun like the Assault’s Vanguard. This gun would shoot 3 Concussion Missiles that do large amounts of damage and knock people off their feet. This weapon also has a Secondary Fire of shooting a large blue/purple beam that does a massive amount of damage, but instantly uses up all your time. As this is rather overpowered, it’s recommended that it has a long recharge time.
2. Burst Fire – This will temporarily make it shoot in small bursts, rather than rapidly. These short bursts will do more damage than regular fire.
3. Grenade Launcher – Very similar to the Barrage from SWBF1, works exactly the same.
• Anakin Skywalker (Edited): Much like the ARC Trooper, Anakin wasn't added back when this post was made either. The current hero we have would be great. Although, we would need a Hooded skin and Dark Side voice lines. Once again, feel free to read my original ideas in the spoiler below.
• Anakin Skywalker/Lord Vader (Hero): Anakin would be a Hero available in all game-types, usually on the Light Side. However, in Order 66, he’s more of a Villain with different dialogue to what he normally would. He would come with three skins:
- Default Robes
- Hooded
- Clone Wars
He would control similarly to Rey, but with a lot more “Prequal Style” twirls and spins. His theme song could be Anakin’s Dark Deeds or Anakin vs Obi-Wan.
Star Cards:
1. Lightsaber Throw – This speaks for itself. Works exactly like Darth Vader’s.
2. Lightsaber Spin – Very much like Kylo Ren’s Frenzy, Anakin will spin his lightsaber around from enemy to enemy.
3. Force Choke – Works more like Darth Maul’s choke, rather than Vader’s. Affects Jedi, but it does less damage. For visual realism, it’ll crush Battle Droids into a ball of scrap.
Jedi Order:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you’d expect, this team is mostly made up of Jedi. These Jedi Classes will have a bit more health than their Trooper counterparts, but not as much as Heroes.
• Temple Soldier (Assault/Heavy): These Classes are not Jedi, but they do help protect the Jedi. These guys are very similar to the Temple Soldiers in Classic SWBF2's Coruscant mission. He would probably be a reskin of a Resistance Specialist or something. These guys are just your standard Assault and Heavy Troopers.

• Jedi Padawan (Officer): This Class would behave a lot like Luke Skywalker with his Saber Combat and his running speed.
Star Cards:
1. Lightsaber Throw – This speaks for itself. Works exactly like Darth Vader’s, once again.
2. Force Heal – Works exactly like the Officer’s Battle Command Star Card.
3. Force Speed – As the name would suggest, the user would get a temporary speed boost while running (like the Assault’s Vanguard, but faster)

The rest of the Classes on this team will be Special Classes (Classes that cost Battle Points):

• Jedi Temple Guard: This Class would behave a lot like Darth Maul with his Staff Saber Combat and his running speed. The Jedi Temple guard is from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels.
Star Cards:
1. Lightsaber Throw – This speaks for itself. Works exactly like Darth Maul’s.
2. Force Throw – Very similar to Darth Maul’s Force Choke, minus the choking.
3. Mind Trick – Works just like Rey’s, but for a shorter duration.

• Jedi Master: This Class would introduce a new Lightsaber Style – Dual Wielding! This would have new animations and new gameplay. This character would be a Kel-Dor, like Plo Koon.
Star Cards:
1. Dual Lightsaber Throw – This makes the user spin around in a circle and throw both sabers.
2. Electric Judgment – An orange lightning attack similar to Palpatine’s, but with less damage.
3. Force Leap – Makes the user leap forward and attack any enemies in front of them.

• Master Yoda (Hero): Obviously, Yoda’s already a Hero in this game, so he’s nothing new.

Now, since I took the time out of my day to rewrite this whole thing to be updated, you obviously didn’t read my first suggestion. I hope you won’t make the same mistake twice. Now, it's your responsibility to make these teams as balanced as possible. Once again, these don't have to be exactly how I suggested, as they are suggestions, of course. But I have asked a lot of people, and they agreed that they would like to see an
Order 66 game-type.

Another thing: Allow us access to all game-types that were previously just limited-time events. I personally enjoy Jetpack Cargo and Ewok Hunt, and I’d hate to lose them forever. I’d also hate for this game-type to be a limited-time thing as well. As for the challenges, sure – go right ahead with those, because it encourages people to play those games.

But anyway, please make this happen DICE/EA, because it’s such an iconic scene, and it would be a shame to waste it. It would also make a great promotion for the upcoming Jedi Fallen Order game, as that seems to be set during Order 66 on the Jedi Temple too.

Sincerely - Droidy365

  • Well darn, I see other people are getting the idea to have Jedi Classes for Order 66. I'm still working on mine, but I think I'll just leave some parts out for the community to decide.

    Nice ideas though.
    We need a Tier System for the Heroes. It would justify the "op-ness" of Vader over Han and Chewbacca. It would cost much more to unlock Vader, and would require you to save a lot more than for other heroes and vehicles, but it would be rewarding in the end...

    "It would essentially ruin the eras and turn them into nothing much more than the same thing and same experience but with a different skin. Which is contrary to the point in having eras in the first place." - ZmanGames
  • Nice ideas, but I think the Jedi would get pretty much steamrolled if they had the same amount of HP as the clones

    Yeah, I did think about this... I might edit the post :smile:
  • Ok, should be all good now :smile:
    Any other feedback?
  • le bump...
  • That idea would definitely be cool to see. I like it

    That Specialist rework was disappointing.

  • DICE has apparently been reworking the saber heroes' combat. This is probably for the new Hero Showdown mode, but it would be good for this too :smile:

    Make it Ewok Hunt except with a different theme.

    As much as I love Ewok Hunt, I personally don't feel that it would really work with this sort of game. At least, not with the "Horror" aspect of it (darkness, flashlights, etc.)
    Perhaps the "Zombie mode" aspect of it could potentially work, but I'm not sure...

    Here’s how Jedi Hunt: Order 66 could work...

    Make it a 20 player mode on a Jedi Temple map. One person starts off as Darth Vader/Anakin and there are 19 Jedi. Vader is basically an invincible god and he doesn’t appear on the radar while the Jedi all start off pretty weak. Jedi appear on Vader’s radar only while Focused Rage is active. When a Jedi is killed, he becomes a clone on Vader’s team. Assault class only but you can set your Star Cards and weapon like usual. With each Jedi killed, the remaining survivors become stronger and stronger until there is one Jedi left who has basically become a Jedi Master with a ton of health and he can OHK clones. Play it out until this last dude is killed and the player with the most kills or highest score at the end of the match is the winner.
  • May I bump this post? :)
    I must say: This would work very well for a Jedi Fallen Order promotion.

  • @Droidy365 will you edit the post because Anakin and ARC Troopers are in the game already?
    Where's the offline content?

    I don't necessarily agree with all the new units, per se. But I will not lie, an Order 66 sort of gamemode (Operation Knightfall? Could've sworn that's the canon name for it.) sounds very nice.

    Iron enigma treateth, Ultima
    Shielding light retreateth, Ultima
    Hydaelyn defeated. Ah, Ultima

    The fact is that if you're running it's because you suck, and the game shouldn't pander to players who suck.

    I believe the name "Operation Knightfall" was coined in Classic SWBF2, but I think it's been used a few times since then. As for the units, I'm always open to feedback and criticism :smile:

    We won't need this game mode. Jedi Fallen Order revolves around the Order 66 storyline.

    We're getting an entire game of Jedi fighting for survival. I can't wait! ;) B)
    For the Rebellion!
  • Id probably play it

    I am very curious to see how they end up playing it out. But at the same time, I hope they tone it down some. We don't want the protagonist to be at Force Unleashed tiers of demigod.

    Yes, I couldn't agree more. I hope it isn't OP Starkiller nonsense.

    Teaser trailer comes out on the 13th, 3 days from now. Let us hope that EA hasn't ruined it.

    I respectfully disagree. I think it would be fun playing on either side on a massive scale in online multiplayer, and I feel like it would make for a great promotion for Jedi Fallen Order. Besides, they've added 501st clones, Anakin, and ARC Troopers, so I feel like this would be a great next step. I am really hyped for Fallen Order, though, can't wait :smiley:

    I have a very strong bias against sabers due to their obscene overrepresentation in this game as is, so I couldn't begin to tell you what the Jedi team should look like. (Carefully chose my words previously with not "necessarily" agreeing :D ) But that aside, I do think a mode like this might be entertaining. It has the potential to be, for sure.

    Perhaps something to consider after we get a round of new weapons for troopers and maps?
