Yeah, I saw that. But obviously it doesn't affect Battlefront because they removed loot boxes in favour of a much better progression system. So we're all good!

Was thinking more about the future of games

There's a massive amount of money to be made in gaming, they'll all adapt, overcome, and make more money then ever before.

I guess star wars commander is illegal, it is full of unknowns (I.E. loot box) that you can buy with cystals which can be purchased with real money

  • Well I feel sorry for those gamers in Belgium. There will be a lot of games banned.

  • Sounds depressing. But hey, Dice was smart enough to dodge that bullet when it came at them, or in Star Wars terms they blocked it.

Not really Fifa was one of the Games investigated

  • Couldn't you just get around this law by instead offering card packs with codes for in game items?

Issue is Random rewards for money is Gambling and products focused on under 18s
  • There was some other news in Korea. A few companies were fined, one in particular, for a big chunk of money because they used deceptive and misleading practices when disclosing the chances of getting an item from a loot box.

And now Belgium. It's a step in the right direction. Where that direction is heading only time will tell.

But I mean if your game didn't contain lootboxes in the game but instead had yugioh style random card packs that then give in game items would that be a way to get around this law in Belgium.

Don't understand. If the random item, however you get it, leads to a benefit it is a gamble

That's because people who love train simulators are bat-****-crazy when it comes to trains. :p

I should know. My uncle is one of them. Car in garage? Nope. He used the garage to make his own train depot and city. Not even kidding. Real grass and bonsai trees, man. It was something to see. :D

Oh okay but ...first understand the law? ;-)
  • Paid DLC is fine for me - my choice if I buy after it has been delivered. As a father I want children to be protected/parents not pressured by random items :-)

The problem is consumers perceived/are not willing to pay $100 upfront for 'free' Map/mode DLC

Sounds perfectly sane compared to UK train spotters

Sounds like an interesting hobby. Have you ever tried to practice these loopholes?

unfortunately, darth maul couldn't block it ;)
Many of the arguments we have about this game would not exist if this was a single player focused game like it should have been since day 1.
  • I’m also fine with a paid dlc, I like to know what I’m buying and have a solid outline, not a guessing game pulling slots.
