The Han Solo Season is underway and we’re back with another Community Transmission to tell you a little bit more about what’s coming in June, more specifically, on June 12th.
Kessel

Located in the Outer Rim and known for producing the valuable hypermatter, coaxium , Kessel is a planet with a lot of history within the Star Wars™ universe, and we’re excited to be bringing it to Star Wars Battlefront II.

You’ll be taking to Kessel across several different game modes; Arcade, Blast, Hero Showdown, Heroes vs Villains and Extraction – did we mention that’s coming back?

Extraction

The Rebels have located shipments belonging to the Empire and must escort it to their transport ship. Unfortunately for the Rebels, the Empire has learned of their plans and have set out to stop them, deploying troopers of their own.

Victory occurs when either the Rebels escape with the shipment or the time runs out, in which case the Empire will seal the win.

Extraction on Kessel offers a real team-play oriented experience with gameplay taking place in the tight corridors of the Kessel mines and culminates in the open area outside the mine.
You will be able to play Extraction across both Jabba’s Palace and Kessel and if you’re at EA Play you will be able to play Extraction in the Star Wars Battlefront II area of the fan fest.

Appearances

Last month we said that June will be a bit more legendary and we can confirm that we’ll have four new Legendary Appearances arriving into the game, all based around the characters of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Han Solo will be receiving two Legendary Appearances, Corellia Escape and Beckett’s Crew. Of course, where there’s Han, Lando will never be far behind. Lando will also have two Legendary Appearances; Professional “Sportsman” and Raconteur.

Finishing up the new Appearances for June will be Chewbacca with his Epic Vandor Heist look.

Lando’s Millennium Falcon

When you talk about Han Solo it won’t be long before conversation switches over to one of the most iconic ships in the Star Wars universe, the Millennium Falcon. But this isn’t the Falcon that we know from the Original Trilogy. This is the Millennium Falcon when it belonged to Lando and before it was lost to Han in that now infamous bet.

This stylish and customised version of the Millennium Falcon is faster and more agile but comes at the price of being less resilient due to the lack of modifications made by Han.

Its primary weapon comes in the form of Two Laser Cannons with alternate firing. This automatic weapon deals medium damage over a medium range but with a high rate of fire. As with all Starfighters it will have three abilities.

Coaxium Injection
  • An afterburner which gives the ship an instant speed boost beyond its maximum speed for a long time. This can be cancelled should you wish to return to the ships regular flying speed.
L3-37 Co-Pilot
  • Call upon your co-pilot, L3-37, to highlight enemies for both yourself and friendly Starfighters. Any highlighted enemies will receive an increase in damage inflicted against them.
Synchronized Fire
  • Fires both of your primary weapon guns simultaneously, with increased damage for a short space of time.

Menu Updates
In May we released an update to the menu that removed the hologram effect. One of the more prominent bits of discussion around this was if we were also going to update any of the other menus.

Coming in June we can confirm that we’ll be removing the hologram styled menus from both the Spawn Screen and the end of round MVP screen. Both screens will have a new look to them, in line with the main menu that was added back in May.

We heard a lot of positives over the new look of the menu, especially around the character models that now populate them. What if you could inspect the models and interact with them even further?

Alongside the above updates to the menu screens we are also releasing a change that will allow you to inspect the character models. From within the appearance menu you’ll be able to rotate, pan up, pan down and zoom in and out.

Jetpack Cargo
The last time Jetpack Cargo was available in the game we saw a lot of feedback surrounding the amount of time each game could take. To help combat this we are implementing a timer of six minutes to each game. We’ve also updated the User Interface, which will now display the score and time remaining throughout the duration of the game.

The map has also undergone some changes, most notably Bespin has now been replaced with Yavin 4. The final change we’ve made is that when you spawn you no longer pick a character, instead you pick the weapon you want to use.

We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback on these changes once Jetpack Cargo returns.

Timed Challenges on Home

A small Quality of Life addition is being added to the front menu and revolves around Timed Challenges. When the next update arrives, you’ll notice that the Timed Challenges will now display on the Front Menu alongside the crate notification. Should you wish, you can still navigate to them via the Career menu.

Bug Fixes, Tweaks and Improvements
As usual there’s a host of fixes, alongside some balance changes going into the update. You can find the full list over in the patch notes here.

EA Play
If you’re heading to EA Play on June 9-11 then you’ll be able to experience Extraction on Kessel. It’ll be available throughout the entire length of the show in the Fan Fest. The team have started to touch down into Los Angeles and we've got more to talk about in just a few days time, don't miss it.

    While I hate most of the Solo movie decisions (too many skins for Han and Lando while other heroes/villains only have their base skins and the 3rd Falcon is a bad idea balance-wise), I love the buff to Specialist (even if right now they only added 50 HP) or the buff to anti-vehicle capabilities of the Heavy class.

  • This is exciting. I'm surprised to hear Extraction is a separate mode from Strike, but I cannot complain. Just think that Mimban and space Kessel are missed opportunities. Looking forward to EA Play.

    Kessel map looks really nice. Never really played BF1 much (didn't have PS+ at the time), so I'm looking forward to trying out Extraction. Was really hoping for
    Crimson Dawn Maul skin
    but I don't use him all that much, so not too bothered by it.

    Extraction.....waiting for the death knell reveal of free choice Heroes for that mode . Could be an absolute anti climax after so many months of waiting ... hopefully trooper only

    Not terribly thrilling. I admire all the hard work but I feel it will not hold most of us till August? Or when ever season 3 comes. We need new hero's! New Star Cards! New level caps!

  • Extraction was my favorite mode from the last game!!! I can't wait to play it, but... I think we need more than just 2 maps for that. Don't you think?

    Also, even though all of the above news is awesome and I can't wait, I can't help but feel slightly disappointed with no new Starfighter Assault maps to go along with the new Falcon.

    One question though, with the new menus coming, will we have the ability to select our character appearance / skin at the start of a match rather than having to leave a game and go dig through the menus every time we want to change our look up? Having the ability to swap to the Hoth look when that map comes up and then change over to Endor when it comes around, or ****, even do the exact opposite, would be great.

    Gave the Ion Torpedo 3 shots per magazine instead of 1 to make it more reliable against air targets
    Increased Ion Torpedo damage to make it more reliable against vehicles overall
    SPECIALIST
    Base health increased from 100 to 150
    Health regeneration per second decreased from 60 to 30

    Didn't expect that, but looks good on paper.

    Any word on the large scale game mode with troopers and vehicles coming to Arcade?
    We NEED Offline Galactic Assault (Where the objectives are suitable for the AI and where the ENTIRE large scale maps are utilized by both the player and AI), Vehicle AI to fight against in large scale battles offline, and of course SA Offline.

    • Why did they remove the Hologram menu anyway? I liked it.
    • Officer weapons are tweaked. Take that Officer scum!
    • Still no fixes for Split Screen mode? (P2 Stick deadzone setting / Kashyyyk night time / big Input lag / P2 cant use Emotes, Appearances)

    Come on now! Im waiting SINCE LAUNCH!
    My priority list:

    1. Fix Split Screen
    2. More Clone Wars
    3. Reduce super bright glows on Hero characters (especially Yoda)
    4. Custom servers/renting servers
    5. Kashyyyk trooper skin for Assault

    1) this is the 3rd or 4th nerf of the Officers weapon. Are you going to keep listening to people constant whining until the Officer is pointless to play? People were concern with how fast the Officer was getting bp.
    2) The health increase for the specialist + harden infiltration is gong to make the specialist almost like a heavy with better weapons. Harden infiltration gives a ~25-30% mitigation. So you would need to do ~190ish dmg to kill the specialist. Why not just simply boost harden infiltration and kill streak infiltration. Harden infiltration could have mitigation and duration to make it comparable to the Assault and Kill streak infiltration could have been adjusted to be comparable to the Assault Recharge Vanguard with similar duration.
  • We really aren't ever going to see another map for Galactic Assault, are we? This isn't just disappointing, it's infuriating.
    I rarely play the smaller modes, and almost everyone I talk to is the same, yet those are the ones they keep pushing on us instead of adding to the biggest, best mode in the game.

  • No new hero and villain? It's been 6 months since Finn and Phasma. 6 months! I really liked Qi'ra and Enfys Nest and wanted them in the game. This season really bites. The rumors that season 3 will be announced at EA Play this weekend with Clone Wars content had better be true.

    I feel the same. I wanted Enfys and Beckett.
    What about trooper skins? I was hoping and praying for a Rangetrooper skin. Was that too much to ask?
    I would also like to thank the devs for Kessel, it looks really cool, and y'all did a great job on young Solo.
    Please add Rangetroopers and an Old Solo, in the future.

  • For all those freaking out about content, or lack thereof, let's keep in mind that they'll be making an announcement at EA Play, this weekend, about new content. Let's hold off judgment for just a few more days and see what they announce. We got a new map, new mode, new vehicle, new skins, a bunch of changes that sound really good, that's great in the short term, so let's see what they have for us next. If its disappointing, or we have to wait a ridiculously long time for it, then we can overreact then. But for the next handful of days wrkcqyofk5iu.jpg
  • Kinda disapointed, was looking forward to a new playable hero, not hero ship. No new starfighter maps to play the new falcon on... Also no new GA maps still!!! Thats a big bummer for me. -_-

    But, Im looking forward to see how extraction will be...
