Health on PTO would have been better
For those unaware, PTO is not paid time off... like Dice will be doing all of December. It is Play The Objective.
In my opinion this game would be far better served giving health to those that play the objective and advance/halt the match progress.
Too often these days, many ‘hero players’ just hug the edges of the map, spawn wreck or just hang in the back racking up cheap useless kills. All this does is stroke egos and **** off casuals.
It’s obviously too late for this sort of change. Just thought I’d toss my two cents in the empty bucket, that not everyone enjoys what heroes bring to GA.

That Specialist rework was disappointing.
For attackers, most of "playing the objective" is killing the enemies between you and it. Often, when you get there, one player presses a button even if the other 19 contributed just as much to the push.
Indeed, lots of times you don't want the hero doing the objective at all. Why have Vader wasted by standing there pressing a button when any trooper could do it just as well, while Vader could be cutting off an entire entrance route to said objective, greatly assisting his team's win?
^also this. Heroes can't pick up disruptors and most of them suck at damaging the walker (or can't do it at all)

Unfortunately I’m seeing spawn camping with heroes with greater frequency in GA. This is the result of absolutely no meaningful content added like new maps and modes. Ewok Hunt is permanent though.
Same mentality as the time spent playing as whatever challenges. Not enough focus on PTO.

When I made this thread I was mostly thinking about GA. For HvV it could have worked as health on kill, more/full health for assisting/killing the target. ?
For GA, it could give health for ‘playing the objective’ like it does now. It could also give more health the closer you are to the objective, and replenish at a high rate to full for ‘pushing button/lever/switch’ as a hero. Hell, I’d be fine with bonus health for getting in there close and personal!
I think this could also work as better health on kill. The amount of health is determined by your proximity to the objective. The amount could be adjusted for offensive/defensive since you can usually rack up more kills on defending.
Just thoughts as I type, this could have easily been implemented IMO.

To be fair, if the Devs are getting paid in December, it's not from the Battelfront 2 community.
What we should be upset about is the unrealistic, Bigger & Better than BF2015-style "Free DLC Model" that was eluded to during the advertising campaign of the game relative to the drip-feed of content we got after purchasing said game.
As far as the health on PTO model, I don't see this working very well for gameplay. The objectives need to remain highly fragile so that even a well-defensed objective still has a possibility of being overtaken by well-timed/well-thought out offensive. I would see health on PTO fortifying defenses, such as Yoda's presence or Finn's Big deal, which would make them nearly impossible to take over (if they weren't already when a good Yoda or Finn is present).
Not hating on the idea, just giving my two cents as well.
