EL-16HFE damage

Some info to start off... Weapon stats from one year ago.

Default Weapon - Head 68, Body 36
A280 - Head 63 (x3) = 189, Body 33 (x3) = 99
Cr2 - Head 32, Body 17
EL16HFE - Head 93, Body 49
Vanguard - 294 anywhere you hit (14 pellets, 21 dmg per pellet)
Vanguard Slug - Head 228, Body 120 (single slug)

Heavy
Default Weapon - Head 30, Body 16
DC15LE - Head 30, Body 16
FWMB10K - Head 46, Body 24
TL50 - Head 38, Body 20
Sentry - Head 29, Body 15
Mobile Sentry - Head 29, Body 15 (duration time only expires when you fire weapon, allowing you to move after activating ability without worrying about time expiring)
Supercharged Sentry - Head 29, Body 15 (plus 10 splash damage and duration time expires regardless if you are firing or not)
Explosive Sentry - 150 for direct impact anywhere, 100 for a hit right next to them, falling off the further away you hit. Time expires regardless if you are firing or not.
Ion Turret - 14 damage per shot, 10 round volley (14x10)=140, volley resets after 5 seconds, 150 damage for Turret Detonation

Officer
Default Weapon - Head 65, Body 34
S5 - Head 127, Body 67
Blurrg1120 - Head 70 (x4)=280, Body 37 (x4)=148 (4 round burst requires attachment)
Se44 - Head 65, Body 34
Blaster Turret - 25 damage per shot, 6 round volley (25x6)=150, volley resets after 2 seconds, 150 damage for Turret Detonation

Specialist
Default Weapon - Head 86, Body 45
IQA11 - Head 125, Body 66
A280CFE - Head 63, Body 33
NT242 - Head 201, Body 106
Infiltration - Head 38 (x6)=228, Body 20 (x6)=120 (All versions of Infiltration fire 6 round bursts)
All of the above assumes maximum damage within close range.
So... CR-2 and EL-16HFE have had no damage alterations as far as I know. Judging by rof, and some multiplayer onservations, the CR-2 deals 2 times the EL-16HFE damage. AQA11 has a similar rof to the EL16-HFE, npbut deals 125 head damage as opposed to 93. There is a one bar rof difference. Thus, neither does the EL-16HFE excel at damage, or range. It is quite weak given its rof and dps, so the question arises; give it a damage buff? It is rather weak, especially for a tier 4 gun. I mean, dps should ideally remain the same unless your hp changes, as only rof and spread should change over long distances in order to even the playing field.

    I like the post in it's entirety. The thing is with the EL-16, it can go 1 of 2 ways, Either Damage per shot is slightly upped, or fire rate is slightly increased. Either way is fine IMO as long as it's (SLIGHTLY). But personally, I'd rather it do a bit more damage than fire faster. That's just my two cents.

    Agreed. No over-buffing. And to fit with the mid-long range rifle intent, it would have to be more damage per shot, not a higher rof.

    There's only one problem with a damage buff. If it already does 49 damage in a bodyshot, that's a 4 shot kill or 5 on a Heavy. If you literally add even 1 point of damage then it becomes a 3 shot kill or 4 on a heavy. Its right on the cusp of where a single point of damage could have very noticeable repercussion in time to kill. I'm not saying this would be OP or anything, just a critical observation (if that is the correct damage). That would actually make it comically better than the default specialist sniper rifle in terms of damage output while being automatic as a bonus.

    Altering Rate of Fire is a bit more flexible as you can adjust the DPS in smaller increments in this situation without altering raw shots to kill.

    I'd rather bump up the rof, damage on it seems fair, especially if @JediJulius 's numbers are correct.

  • Agreed with OP. The gun's useless. The officers S5 PISTOL is better at range than an assault rifle. The a280c is also better and higher dps when u easily land the whole burst.

    Yes. Also, the rate of fire should remain the same, as it alters the guns mid-long range nature.

    If we suppose that a CR2 gets 10 shots out at 17 damage each, yielding 170 damage a second. (ROF from bar charts in the game).
    An EL-16HFE lands 3 shots, at 49 damage each, yielding a mere 147 damage... Not to mention it still has a range drop off, and the last known number was 30 where it flatlined. This is from BF Fulcrum. It does not take long to get to this, either.

  • I agree the EL16-HFE should be boosted either in speed (which i prefer) or damage to get more DPS.

    I feel an extra shot or two a second would be good. Assault is not meant to be a sniper.

    I was playing with the EL16-HFE on Naboo last night. As droid players entered the main door to the throne room, I'd kill them with 2-3 shots easy. So, I was rather surprised to see a thread asking for a buff to this weapon instead of a weapon like the DC-15LE which is clearly underpowered or the TL-50 which is no where near as good as it was in SWBF.

    I think the EL16-HFE is adequate right now depending on whether you feel like fighting up close with the CR-2 or from medium to long range with the 16.
  • Headshots at medium range when they're forced into a bottleneck is reeeeeallly situational though. Trying to engage a couple people at long range (alleged purpose of this gun) its about 5 shots IF they dont roll to safety which they always do. Any movement a target does, this gun is useless because of low fire rate. A280C is better in almost every scenario since hitting the whole burst does way more damage, burst is great for tracking because it allows you to miss some shots, and climbs up each shot so guaranteed headshots.

    I don't recall it ever taking 5 shots with the 16 to kill a normal trooper player. 3 at most even if they weren't forced into a bottleneck situation. It might be 5. I am not playing the game right now. The damage on paper seems to match the damage output in game. Granted, the weapon fires like the CJ-9 but fully automatic. I'll have to do more testing with it. I usually prefer the 16 over the 280C in SWBF II. A few of the guns just don't perform as well as they did in SWBF like the 280C and the TL-50.
  • Just tested the EL-16HFE on battle scenario with default trooper health. The EL-16HFE killed in 4-5 body shots, and the A280C killed in 6. Not much of a difference in damage. It may be easier to pull off head shots with the A280C at close range with the high rate of fire but the EL-16HFE can be just as deadly. Still, the EL-16HFE is better suited for medium to long range fighting and you could even act as a secondary sniper with the increased zoom attachment.

    Unfortunately, damage dropoff makes body shots do 30 damage at mid-long ranges.
