Droids, robots and even characters in-between have always played a vital role in the telling of Star Wars stories. It is time to see some of them represented on the battlefront! 9/10 Jawas agree.

With hints and rumors of IG-88 and other bounty hunters appearing in the Mandalorian show. Also the chance K2 could pop up in the coming Cassian show... a few of us decided to toss together the perfect pair and see what they’d look like. The ugnaughts of Bespin, are rubbing their hands in anticipation.

After the release of four consecutive saber users, a change of pace is definitely needed. What better way to get back into the blaster heroes than with these two unique characters. Both would bring the obvious new aspect of droids now being available for both sides. The HvV announcer highly favors this idea, so will you?

-The comedy relief and the quiet assassin-

Them both being droids is about where the similarities end for these two. We have two concepts from Bosskfan and DJ that showcase just how fun and unique these characters could be. They’ve been pining over and checking them thoroughly lately, so please take a little time to check out what they’ve come up with.

Be INDEPENDENT
 
OVERALL ROLE ON THE BATTLEFRONT: Guardian, Punisher tactics
 
 Base Health: 1000 HP
Health Regen threshold: 450 HP
Time before Regen kicks in: 4 sec
Time before Regen Threshold is met: 5 sec
 
 
Default Melee: K2-SO Will do light slapping attacks whenever the player hits the melee button.

Unique Primary Melee Attack: Charge Punch. K2 uses his robotic strength to do a charged bash at any enemy he so happens to come across.
 
After a short charge up time, K2 will lunge 10 meters forward very quickly & demolish any enemy that is close to him.
And whoever is directly in front of K2 is dealt an insane amount of damage, as they're the one who're being hit by his hardened Fist.
 
All enemies hit by K2's punch will be launched backward, and if they hit a wall or any sort of hard surface that isn't the ground then they'll be dealt even more damage.
 
Passive Ability-Last Stand
 
When K2-SO reaches a critical state in his Health Bar, like 50 or 100 health left, the player will have a short time based option to go into Last Stand mode.
During this time, the player can press Both analog stick buttons during a 2 second duration, and activate K2 into this unique mode.
 
So if K2 gets gunned down fast enough, the player might not be able to react fast enough to go into Last Stand, which puts a skilled based effect on this ability
 
Last Stand equips K2-SO with a High Damaging Rapid Fire version of his SE-14C ability. He also becomes highly resistant to all forms of damage, but he will be slowed down greatly in a limping stance during the time Last Stand is active.
 
When activated, this passive ability will only turn off when K2 regens half of his health back.
 
SIGNATURE ABILITY (R1+L1/RB+LB) Infinite Duration 15s CD When it breaks. {Light Barrier}— K2's experience with experimental imperial equipment puts him on a superior edge to his opponents, and a daunting advantage for his allies.
 
He puts up a portable Energy Riot Shield, similar to the Gungan energy shield & the Heavy classes protective energy barrier. It can protect him & his team from all forms of incoming damage & also be used for pushing control points or any other objective.
 
After 800 damage has been taken from the shield barrier, K2 breaks off his guard & has to recharge the shield.
 
He can push enemies down with it if they ever come close, and do small shield thrusts which knockback the enemy and do a bit of damage. The shield can even be smashed the ground with it which ruins enemies by slapping them away & putting them down.

ABILITY (L1/LB) 10s Duration, 11s CD {Calculative Tactics}— K-2SO calculates the enemies next move, so he equips an SE-14C secondary weapon that can rapidly fire at enemies.
During the duration of this ability, the player can aim down the sights of the blaster to have his blaster bolts automatically aim onto enemies (Similar to Dead Eye).
Or he can aim without the sight & have the character of K2-SO target enemies from any angle on his own.
 
ABILITY (R1/RB) 9s Duration, 21s CD {Ground Shatter}— K-2SO Smashes the ground with his immense strength & shatters the area in front of him across a 14 meter radius.  
 
When the ground has been shattered, enemies will be thrusted backward & dealt 180 damage the entire flooring of the shattered vicinity.
 
The ground will change to show shards of rubble on the floor which stuns enemies & damages all that go near the shattered area. (This ability works similarly to Chewies ground slam)
 
On every planet the shards will show up differently, on Endor it'll be sticks & rocks forced above the ground, or on Jakku it might be the sharpened rubble of Star Destroyer debris.

Weapon: E-11

Health: 700/ Regen threshold 250

ABILITIES

ABILITY (R1/RB) / 19s CD /
{DAS-430 Neural Inhibitor}—A projectile launcher that fires one green blast on the ground which lasts for 16 seconds. The projectile creates a 360° magnetic field 8 metres wide. Whoever gets caught in the magnetic field has their movement speed decreased, have any health boost effect instantly terminated and loses 20hp per second while inside it), the projectile will stay active for 12 seconds This doesn't affect IG-88 in any way

ABILITY (R1+L1/RB+LB) / 13s CD /
{Sonic Stunner}—IG-88 changes his E-11's firing mode to start firing painful blaster bolts that blind, deafen, greatly reduce the accuracy of anything they touch and slowly burns its target for 5 seconds. Active for 8 seconds.

ABILITY (L1/LB) / Toggeable
{Flame Projector}— IG-88 starts firing deadly flames from his wrist. Very large AOE (basically the same range and damage with a flametrooper using overload) but with no movement penalty

    Love it! I don’t think we’ll be seeing them after the next 4 heroes, but we should absolutely get them soon! hopefully next year

  • I’m all for K2 & IS-88. Nice work. Also bring back Dengar and Greedo. I’d also love to see Jango Fett & Qui-Gon Jin as heroes.

    There should be a GA mode like Heroes Unleased at normal prices but having 9 v 9 available during all stages of the round. It’s amazing when Heroes Unleased is happening since it’s so intense with all the heroes and villains playing at once during GA.

    Besides the great heroes and villains sgguestions, more weapons and maps would be amazing. This game can more users in since it’s FPS multiplayer game play is better than other title’s

    Leia with R2... cool idea.

    I’ve thought since launch it would be awesome to have droid supports, as a semi-passive reinforcement class.

    Thanks. Yeah I'd rather Leia have R2 than the not so flashy grenade. Don't understand why no droid support for LS heroes. Jyn and K2, even though K2 could be a stand alone hero, would be an excellent addition to the hero line up. Even Poe, if ever added as a ground hero, could use BB8.
    Droid LS heroes are in deep sleep but maybe they will awake in 2019 along with the malfunctioning droids scattered across the maps.

  • One of the standout elements of Rogue One coupled with my second personal favorite of the Empire Bounty Hunters (sorry, Bossk takes the cake, I just loved reptiles as a kid) are something I'd love to see. I imagine Kaytoo being a tanky brawler, with a toggle-able SE-14C as a sidearm, and getting strong melee attacks, and @Elusive_DJ has a great concept as always! I'd love for one of the animations for either his main attacks or his standard Melee to be a downward bonk, OR maybe a jab with that- information shiv?- that pops out of his wrist. Speaking of which, it would be super cool if K-2 could use that to re-program Imperial turrets and other droids or shoot on them. Just a thought. I like that Iggy (and K-2, honestly) is really tanky, it would be cool to see Ion weapons and shot do bit more damage to the pair. Nothing absurd, but a 1.25 multiplier would be noticeable.
    The one thing I don't love about this is Iggy's ability set. No hard feelings, it is a strong and well thought-out concept, but he feels a little lacking in my personal opinion. Two of my favorite aspects of him are how he dual-wields his Neural Inhibitor and Pulse Canon on board the Executor, among the many other weapons and instruments he uses in canon and Legends. My image of the psychotic droid is that his premier ability (both bumpers) is a limited time use of both his DAS-430 and Pulse Cannon, each fired by a separate trigger. His other two abilities are unique in that they are actually randomized. After using each, they randomly spin through several other abilities, like Roulette Wheels. They are very simple abilities, mind you. Some ideas can include the ability suggestions from above (Flame-Projectors, DAS-430 ammunition change, Sonic ammo), along with a one-time use Scattergun (ala BF2015), a Grenade Toss (3-4 random explosives, like a base Detonator, Ion & Impact Grenade, and one of Leia's Flash Grenades), Acid Launcher, Dart Gun (Stinger Pistol essentially), Scan Pulse, and a limited use Vibroblade.
    Just my thoughts for the droid, I would love to see both of them someday, along with the rest of Rogue One's characters and the Empire Strikes Back mercenaries!

  • I thought something IG could have is 3 spreadable trip mines that concuss and blind with slight damage. It might work really almost too well in conjunction with Bossk’s mines though.

There seems to be a lack of creativeness from the people involved in making this game. These are great concepts, I just don’t know if this current Dice crew is capable of implementing them. Stuff like this would keep this game fresh and viable (in my opinion).

    Yeah, our concept ideas turn towards the ‘woulda-coulda-shoulda’ as time passes, unfortunately.

    Never had dillusions that these season/hero concepts that we’ve done would all get added. But I do enjoy highlighting all the potential and putting them together.

    REALLY like the idea of droid season theme. Such a big part of all of Star Wars, almost entirely omitted from this game.

  • I'm pretty sure Alan Tudyk would be delighted to reprise his role as K2SO for Star Wars Battlefront having done alot of voice works for movies and star wars video games

  • Ig-88 would be one of the few great additions from the OT, he's one of the coolest bounty hunters second only to Jango/Boba.
