INCOMING SPOOKMISSION

The night is dark and full of things that go yub-nub in the night. Welcome back to the forest moon of Endor, where Ewok Hunt awaits!

It’s October and with Halloween fast approaching we thought there was no better time than now to bring back Ewok Hunt. But we’re not just bringing it back, we’ve got some changes on the way that we hope you’ll enjoy.

ze3n8gkrjdd3.png

When we were discussing how we could improve the mode we quickly came to the idea of revamping the play area. To do this we’re going to bring the regular version of Endor into the mode—with some key improvements tailored for the mode itself. You’ll have much more of the forest available to you, and you’ll need it to stay hidden.

For those of you who haven’t yet experienced Ewok Hunt the premise is simple. When the game starts the teams will be split between one single Ewok, while everyone else playing is a stormtrooper. Each defeated stormtrooper will respawn as another Ewok, multiplying their numbers until the Empire’s forces have been completely eliminated.

Imperial forces will need to survive until the evacuation shuttles arrives. Do so, and they’ll make it off of Endor and claim the win. Should all the stormtroopers be defeated, it will be an Ewok celebration taking place.

Of course, this is Endor at night, and the night is dark and full of terrors. Stormtroopers will have to make good use of their flashlights as without them, the last thing they see will be an Ewok shaped shadow and by then, it’ll be too late.

5uhxd44b47bu.png

As a stormtrooper you’ll be wanting to keep your eyes out for any supply crates that you happen to stumble across. With your visibility being reduced to nothing but what’s in front of your flashlight, these crates could easily be missed.
Should you stumble across one, you might find a special Transmitter. This transmitter will send a signal to the Imperial fleet in orbit, expediting the time of arrival of the shuttle.

The Transmitter will spawn in a random place each time. There’s a lot of risk with venturing out into the forest alone to look for it, but should you find it, the payoff will be significant.

gwchpnc854q1.png

Much like the Transmitter, stormtroopers will also be able to find upgrades in the form of a DLT-19 with a flashlight that never runs out of battery, and an incendiary grenade.

The permanent flashlight is a welcome upgrade as it removes the need to stand in perpetual darkness while it comes off its cooldown. With multiple of these located throughout the map it can be a great idea to locate another stormtrooper who has also equipped it.

You’re stronger together, and even stronger with a DLT-19 with an unlimited flashlight.

As for incendiary grenades, who doesn’t like a bit of fire? Perfect for when you find yourself backed up into a corner.

v9u63na01u6a.png

As you walk, run, scuttle, and hide throughout the forest you’ll need to be on the lookout for any traps that the natives have left.

These can be very easy to trigger for unsuspecting stormtroopers, especially when you’re frantically running from the sound of Ewok’s chasing you. Take the wrong step and you’ll find yourself on the wrong end of a trap, and you will become yet another stormtrooper that has been lost to the forest.

3f7a53i6xwz6.png

We’ve made some changes to the Hunter Instincts ability of the Ewoks as well. While active, Ewoks will now be able to see other Ewoks, making it easier to find a partner or two to hunt with.

They will also be able to distinguish between wounded troopers and regular. If you’re wounded then you’ll show up with a red outline, while stormtroopers at full health will be yellow. This will also affect the footprints that get left behind, allowing Ewoks to stalk their wounded prey with greater ease.

yefbcmyrryxb.png

With the addition of this variant of Endor we will be adding it to the map rotation to the Ewok Hunt Playlist.
The Another Night on Endor Update arrives in just a few days time on Oct 23rd, and we’ll be back tomorrow with the full release notes.

    My priority list:

    1. Fix Split screen mode bugs
    2. Fix bugs
    3. Bigger play area for Duel mode
    4. More love for Starfighter modes
    5. First Person only mode

The GA map is coming on top of the one already existing.
  • Can the DLT-19 "permanent" flashlight be turned off ?
I understand it is "permanent" in terms of battery but I admit enjoy (failing at) sneaking with the flashlight turned off.

  • will the upcoming update have the ai for vehicles and other reinforcements for instant action? anybody know?
  • No news of AI vehicles for instant action, seriously @F8RGE? What's going on there, your playtest failed or what?
Video games, music and movies for life!
  • I remember you guys mentioned that Ewoks as reinforcements on Endor was discussed a while back.

Do you think you guys could now add them? :)
  • "and the night is dark and full of terrors"
  • Are you really reducing the number of starting Ewoks to 1? I see this as a bad move.

There was a glitch months back that caused this and Ewoks rarely won in this case. Please reconsider.

It's good to finally get confirmation on the number of maps, since the "revamping" sentence was ambiguous and it seemed to imply that we would only have one map. I hope that these improvements might mean that we'll get more hunt modes as part of Ewok Hunt (like Wampa Hunt, Genosian Hunt, etc.).
Agreed. Super excited for the new map, sounds awesome and like it will enhance the gameplay. New hunt modes attached would be so awesome though.

  • Awesome! Loving the sound of the changes. Good stuff. :sunglasses:

I really hope players will participate in this. I love Ewok Hunt, but haven't been able to play it in ages because players don't queue up in the MM (we REALLY need a server browser and private matches, DICE). I'm eager to give Ewok Hunt another go. Especially with these improvements.

  • This should be fun!

The real question remains, when will ewoks be coming to GA on Endor as reinforcements? They don't need a class or have starcards, just make them available during phase 2 for 50 BP.

    PLEASE! @F8RGE
  • When I first got Battlefront 2, I will say the first game mode I played was Ewok Hunt. The amount of terror I felt when I was being hunted by alien teddy bears armed with spears, bolas, and some kinda firefly creature was astounding. Here is hoping that this game mode does not flop as hard as starfighter assault!

I'm pretty sure the CT on the rest of the update is coming tomorrow. This one is just talking about Ewok Hunt

I think it would be even better if they were a bankable class both in Hunt mode and on certain maps, like Geonosians on Geonosis. This would really bring to life certain planets! Also in Instant Action. But there's several other important classes as well though to focus on like the rest of the Infiltrators in the other ears, a Pilot, and Guard Class. Of they di those and the native class on select maps, reinforcements would be perfect! I think if we knew the full spectrum of SW content was coming at some point people would be upset about the size of the updates if we knew wed eventually get what we should. Tell me if I'm wrong but the reason people get concerned about the content is because we get so little news, it comes out last minuet and we don't know how much longer they have plans... which is concerning. But thankful they'll at least be supporting it through 2020, hopefully at minimum!
  • Awesome. I haven't played this mode in like a year, will be cool to hop back into it again.

    Sorry...not excited for this.

Don't really care for this mode at all.

Would've rather had seen this mode dumped and extraction left as it's own mode as I now rarely bother with extraction since it's been dumped into the strike rotation. I get tired of quitting matches when extraction doesn't come up.

This 100%. I also wish they'd just bring Ewoks to GA on Endor and get rid of Wookiee Warriors.

  • I think this is a nice simple update to the game after we got the HUGE content release in September :)

    Agreed.

Also are you the actual Emperor Palpamemes YouTuber? Just curious
  • I would prefer the ewoks as a reinforcement, and an ewok glider as new vehicle in Endor (GA).

    F8RGE...you’re a legend😂
  • Awesome, I played the mode when it dropped last year and it was really good. I'm glad they're expanding the map and making it more risk and reward to go out into the dark to get equipment and comms to speed up extraction instead of hiding in a cave waiting to have their heads be put on pikes. Those little fur balls can now see other fur balls to team up and see troopers injured and non injured making it easier to single them out if they do not have a team to cover them.
  • Add Ewoks to all Endor maps as an Enforcer and add the Survivors of Endor map to other modes ie. Blast and HVV. Wasted assets.

will we get new extraction map someday in 2020 ?? i dont know why ewok get a new one . servers are always empty and now we will have 2 maps ?!?!?

i dont want to be negative but i expected something different when i read the word 'terror' in a previous post...
  • was hoping for more substantial changes/additions to this mode than this, but better than nothing I guess
  • Would have much rather seen the time put towards extraction instead of burying it for this nonsense. Won't even bother clicking on it.
  • What a pointless change ewok hunt will just be dead a week later. You should have given us a new hunt mode
  • I think that there should be other tipes of hunt like on other planets Tatooine the hunters are difrent pit droid tipes.

"The night is dark and full of things that go yub-nub in the night." Lol, very funny. 🤣
Are you really reducing the number of starting Ewoks to 1? I see this as a bad move.

There was a glitch months back that caused this and Ewoks rarely won in this case. Please reconsider.

Devs I just noticed from this gentleman's comment you said, "When the game starts the teams will be split between one single Ewok, while everyone else is playing as a stormtrooper.
    🧐🤔

That does worry me just a tad. Before it was 2 vs 18, now with the changes it's 1 vs 19. 😐 It is very hard to win as the Ewoks with only one Ewok. I played once when I was the chosen Ewok and the second Ewok quit right at game start for some unknown reason. I don't know maybe it was that glitch KillerAero13 was talking about, who knows. Any ways, the enemy was all in the cave, they had 2 troopers with the DLT-19, infinite flashlights and incendiary grenades guarding all entrances. Plus the combined fire power of all of them. I did manage to drop 5 by game end and those I killed dropped even more, but by the time that occurred...5 troopers made it into the shuttle. For the record the new addition of placing a transmitter outside to accelerate the evac is clever, it makes troops possibly leave the cave. Though there is no guarantee they will take the bait. But still cool.

I think having only 1 Ewok (19 vs 1) gives the Ewoks (who already have a weapon disadvantage) even more of a disadvantage, just sayin'. Not trying to whine here, but you may want to reconsider that number, just sayin'.
    DarthLando wrote: »
Should’ve given the Ewoks bows & arrows.
Good idea, plus spears and rock sling shots. But I am very grateful devs. 🤗
    kdb15heccdv6.gif

Devs if you decide not to change it back to two Ewoks at game start or do change it, ether way, here are some cool was to amp the mode.

Allow Ewoks the option of UI toggling different weapons:
(1.) Sling shot a sharp rock it does NOT kill but stuns if it hits armor. Unless you hit the exposed neck then it's a kill. - canon (make this the second alternative choice to the Wisties).
(2.) Throw a tribal spear, it does NOT kill but stuns if it hits armor. Unless you hit the exposed neck then it's a kill. - canon (make this the third alternative choice to the
    the Wisties).
(3.) Bow and Arrow it does NOT kill but stuns if it hits armor. Unless you hit the exposed neck then it's a kill. - canon (make this the fourth alternative choice to the
    the Wisties).

    U.I. Environmental Help:
Piles of large rocks Ewoks can pick up and hurl from catwalks - canon

    Ewok Gliders - canon
How to implement it: Have a bonus reward for a 3 trooper kill streak by an Ewok to be able as an Ewok to activate an Ewok Glider Air Strike, dropping 3 boulders on whoever is unlucky enough to be in the flight path. Think the Tie Striker Air Strike on Scarif, same idea.

Thanks devs for the new map you rock as always, keep up the outstanding work. Sounds like a lot of fun. 😎👍🏼

    Yes please. 😇

Wampas next please, please, please, pretty please. 😇

P.S. - Since you guys at DICE are becoming so proficient at A.I. could we get A.I players to file in empty slots please. This will allow us to really have fun. You could maybe say have a timer countdown and if it does not fill in after say 60 seconds then the computer fills it in with A.I..

  • Will we ever see some other hunts? I.e. Wampa, geonosian, gungan, tusken raider, nightsister, Order 66?
  • Do you know what could have been so much better? Adding the Ewoks as the Rebel Alliance Infiltrator Class on Endor.

  • Yes I love this event! More Bucketheads for my collection!
  • I don't care about this mode I'd rather have Extraction changed into droid Extraction. Like the battlefront 2015 death star droid run map with r2d2. This would bring more people in and spice up the mode. The first update could be extraction rework into droid extraction with C3po on jabbas palace, gonk droid on kessel, Death star could be the new map with r2d2 ported from bf 2015 and the 2nd update would be scariff update where they could add scarif for both CS and extraction with k2so And jyn erso and krennic to go along with it as new heroes in a big OT update which people have been asking for a while.
