Power To The Troopers !!

It is time for some meaningful enhancements to the base trooper class gameplay before this Live Service comes to an end:

1.) Lift lefthand ability class restrictions:
- Make all lefthand abilities available for all classes and keep the righthand abilities class-exclusive.
- Ion grenade swaps to righthand as Assault exclusive while Flash pistol will become lefthand (unrestricted)
- Officer will swap Disruption with Specialist´s Scout Binoculars (which should be tremendously buffed); both abilities would be righthand (clas-exclusives respectively)

Result: More variety and class-customization

2.) Add new ways to spend Battlepoints that allow to keep playing as a base class
- 500BP could be spend as instant in-game purchase to increase your max health by 20hp;
- Another 1000BP could be spend as instant in-game investment to further increase max health by 30hp;
= 1500BP for 50hp extra health
The extra max health bought through BP will be lost when killed.

Additionally there would be a new system to spend BP on charging base trooper Star Cards in the respawn screen and increase the Star Card level for the duration of the match:
- 250BP for charging from white to green
- 500BP for charging from green to blue
- 750BP for charging from blue to purple
- 1000BP for charging from purple to orange (legendary)
Charging Star cards with BP will persist throughout the match.
Legendary orange level will further enhance the Star Card effects beyond purple, but cannot be permanently unlocked throughSkill points.
Such system would add an extra level of ingame reward for Trooper player.
It would also allow new players to temporarily level their Star cards in game and break even to a certain degree.

3.) Make all weapon attachments available for all weapons:
- Allow weapon modifications like nightvision, targeting scope, rapid fire, improved cooling, burst mode, explosive shot, ion shot to be attached to all weapons, similar to how all weapon Charge cards in Battlefront15 could be used with all weapons.
- Add some unique effects for certain combinations (Rapid fire on a CR2? Burst mode on a A280 or NT-242?)

4.) Increase weapon choice

5.) Add Trooper / Vehicle Only Large Mode - Permanently

7.) Unmerge Strike / Extraction

8.) Give us more Extraction maps please

Thanks for reading and your support!

  • Some pretty cool ideas here. Great post👍
  • I’d take anything right now, but I could definitely get behind 2, 3, 4 and 5.
  • Down for a lot of these but no a heavy longblaster like the nt242 or the L96A1, I mean IQA-11 shouldn't have burst or rapid fire modes, nor should a CR-2 have rapid fire.

And now he felt her, really felt her in the Force; He felt a bond, deeper and more intimate than he’d ever had before; and for a precious eternal instant he was her. . .

he was the beat of her heart and he was the motion of her lips. He was her soft words as though she spoke a prayer to the stars— I love you, Anakin. In life, and in death, we will always be one. I am yours

  • Dice only cares for saber lords peps
  • 2 would need a drastic overhaul of the officer BP gain given they get so much for so little, and given how DICE havent touched the officer BP gain that much since launch (they nerfed everything else mind you) then i dont see that happening

I like the rest of the ideas though, something to spend your BP on for us trooper mains
  • 1,3,4,5. All for it.
  • I don’t think I like 1-3, but I like the rest!

Don’t worry Dice will jump at the chance to further nerf it on a whim so I think that base is covered.
  • power to the troopers is a load of horse ***** when they have officer and heavy those aint basic troops
Tactical, competitive 4v4 saber wielding, block holding, dashing only;God!

2-shot burst could work on a longblaster.
Burst attached to an NT-242 could have a unique effect on the weapon and make it shoot a sustained beam for some 0.75 seconds, like a phaser.

Rapid fire on a longblaster shouldn't turn it into a machine gun, but allow for shorter intervals between shots and allow automatic fire.
It shouldn't always be exclusively beneficial.
Rapid fire on a longblaster would decrease damage per shot by say 25-33% or decrease range, increase heat buildup, recoil and the duration of the overheat penalty, for example.
So you'd need a reduced recoil, improved cooling or improved range attachment to counter at least one of the negative side-effects... otherwise the weapon would handle like crap and difficult to use.

I always thought of a system where for example the A280CFE (in its unmodded configuration) is a modded version of the A280C standard blaster (rapid fire and improved range)
The A280 (basic configuration) would be the A280C with burst attachment.
Same for the EL-16 and the EL-16HFE.
EE-3 would fill the slot of the A280 (and be moddable itself)
Relby V10 would fill the EL-16HFE slot and another longrange blaster would fill the A280CFE slot.

power to the troopers is a load of horse ***** when they have officer and heavy those aint basic troops

In this context all 4 classes available without BP purchase are considered "Troopers".

I think the idea of buying upgrades for your class through the game is a really awesome idea. Maybe offering up a 4th ability with a strong weapon, buying improved armour, improving damage from weapons. Definitly keep the base 4 classes very interesting, like an in match progression that reset every game.

Yes, why not have these weapon / supply crates from Ewok Hunt and GA randomly spawn on a map?
As a base class you would be able to pay an opening fee of 250BP to unlock the crate and in it you would find a random single-use power-up that'd go in the 4th slot.
Such power-up would be a rocket launcher, thermal imploder, incendiary grenade, a tripod-mounted blaster cannon or a medical droid, consumed upon use / placement.
An emptied crate would reset after 60 seconds.

With colllectable power-ups, they should also bring back Drop Zone.
The 1-pod version. Not the Bespin version.
... and not include reinforcements in it.
  • If I can get legendary cards for heroes than sure.
  • I honestly like all your suggestions OP, good post.
Especially the weapon attachments availble for all weapons and to increase weapon choice. I always thought it was so weird how they made the weapons in this Battlefront, and think they had the right idea in the previous one
  • If I can get legendary cards for heroes than sure.

I don't think that would be necessary.
The idea was to implement a system of rewards and battlepoint spending for players who voluntarily or involuntarily keep playing as a base class.
If you've spent BP on a hero or reinforcement, you've already claimed a battlepoint reward.

Focused feedback on trooper weapons/equipment/cards, and a base-4 trooper mode. These need to happen.

    Agree.
The level of reserve, secretiveness, deafness and disregard towards the DICE Shooter fans in this DICE Shooter game community is irritating.

No Strike support, no Extraction support, still no Cargo, no new content for trooper classes, no responding to feedback and outright silencing a trooper content request thread like it was an issue of "political delicacy".
I sense an unusual amount of fear for something as trivial as trooper content requests.

Opening an official feedback channel for trooper content would be a much appreciated signal, that they're "here and listening" to the whole community.

Drop zone was a good alternative to Blast. Only downside to it turning up in BFII is that it’d end up with just a single map and we’d all be bored to tears with it by the end of the first month

    So....
BotG is coming back by the end of the month.
And despite all the feedback - and I dare say there was consensus among the playerbase - at least among those who didn't despise BotG in the first place -
so despite community consensus that reinforcements shouldn't be included, they just can't let go of them.

Has tiered-unit gameplay been declared such a brand-defining feature that it cannot be done without? Not even for an event?
Or would it be too embarassing to witness how the game works better, plays better and simply is better with all its battlepoint unlockable units cut away?

All I can say is, better shooter games have been made without heroes or overpowered unlockable units...

If reinforcements are such a must-have for this game, then please at least balance them against normal classes - at least in the small modes - ...
Unless you say that one player going 40+ kills as the uncontested one-man-army in a Blast match is your idea of entertainment and everything works as intended...

In that case, I'm afraid I can't help and my feedback is no longer needed.
  • Or would it be too embarassing to witness how the game works better, plays better and simply is better with all its battlepoint unlockable units cut away

I see glimpses of this occasionally, having nice little shootouts 1 vs 1,2 or 3, using the terrain, give some damage, take some damage, trying to outplay your opponent. It’s so much fun.

Then, all of a sudden, you get killed by some aerials rocket or fly through the air by some heroic push of a button.

It’s sad that we obviously cannot convey to the devs that some of us don’t enjoy the tiered unit gameplay and would be very grateful for a mode of our own.
99% of my activity here consists of the following words:

    - weapons
    - Infantry only game mode

No feedback, no care, Incredible how the (imho) core of the game is being neglected for two years now...
  • I really don't care for how much the trooper side of the player base has been ignored. It's obvious there's an agenda against it, what with how they nerfed the stinger into uselessness, a large majority of the weapons having been nerfed significantly, so much more to add.

Honestly, what's the deal with them saying they're listening to everyone, yet they silence a trooper thread with almost 40 pages, thousands of views and comments, and now when Forge is tagged for what was said up above, this is also ignored? What are we supposed to think and feel? How are we not supposed to be upset?

It's a shooter game, yet the focus has been on tiered overpowered units and the base four classes have been nerfed so much.
  • It's time for a definitive answer on whether or not trooper players can expect any of the minimal things they've been asking for
