A rant about second phase of battlestation

If you can think of a thing to curse, you've most likely shouted it when encountered with this. The second phase of battlestation is (in my heavily agreed on opinion) the worst part of battlestation (and the death star DLC). It's a complete time destroyer and luck requiring moment in this game, especilly when R2 gets close to the transport. R2 can get destroyed 5 seconds after being acquired, and then have the rebels spend the whole match trying to get a shot at him again. The empire always puts up an im-pernitable defense that leaves more dead bodies then the death star itself, Heros and Villans almost always die shortly after spawning putting either sides at a horrific dis-advantage. And for some reason at the start the empire always leave one hallway alone for the rebels to abuse. There's to many close corridors/death traps where neither team can reach R2, and have I mentioned yet that it takes one player to completely completely screw over the rebels? Yes this is the main ground part of the death star DLC, but it's execution is so terrible I would gladly throw it away for lando abuse again. This phase is awful for rebels, and I hope it either gets buffed for rebels or never seen again in battlefront 2.

This was my rant, and I hope i'm not alone in it

  • You are definitely not alone, phase 2 favors the Imperials more, it's unbalanced AF.
Man! Could this game get any more broken?
  • Getting spawn trapped on battle station is entirely the rebels fault. Don't activate r2 unless you can get him out of his first room. Usually someone with a personal shield gets a random activation while the room is still full of imperials and gets his team spawn trapped for the next 15 mins.
Also I don't know why people take r2 anywhere but up the middle.
Phase two is easy as long as rebel heros know what they are doing. A good Chewie should be able to escort and kill the other heros by himself in his current state.
Battle station is awesome though. Definitely the mode I play most.

Sorry but I couldn't disagree more. The 2nd phase of battlestation can be frustrating but no more so than any other mode. I actually think battlestation is the best game mode and enjoy phase 2 the most. phase 2 more than any other part in this game requires you to SLOW down. Walk, never run. Pick load outs that can splash around corners. Set traps, anticipate your enemies movements. Don't just rush to the Hero coins to be killed before or as you are activating them. Don't rush to R2 with your Hero alone, you will lose both! Protect your Hero, If you just spawned in and your team just unlocked R2 don't run to him, go to the Hanger! get behind the Empire spawn bait them into turning around to attack you and not slowing down R2's advance. Most importantly never under estimate the predictability of stu pid ity! Need a partner? If you are on Xbox look me up, Masterchief1979. I'll fly with you.

I definitely have more wins than losses in battlestation so it works for me I guess. Getting spawn trapped is a rare occurrence to be honest.

I am usually the one spawn trapping, with Bossk, and it's insane how easy it is.

Yeah it's dumb easy With bossk. Chewie is the most valuable hero for rebels in battlestation in my opinion.
If he gets annihilated then it's going to be significantly harder to win as rebels.

    It's like clockwork
And I agree with MrBR210 100%. Anyone that doesn't go up the middle is just asking to lose

Agree with you completely man. Tbh before the recent patch I thought it was becoming too easy at times... as long as you had a competent chewie. That's part of the reason Ive stopped playing it for a bit...not sure how it is now.

Also as rebels a flash grenade, smoke, shield, jetpack type hand is needed for if r2 gets caught in the hangar

If it's that easy, how come I don't see it more often? Where are players like you who can beat that part without many scratches?

Play against me and my squad sometime. You'll be shocked how fast we win

Like everyone else said it's so much easier going down the middle of the map.
Honestly so many people, are too distracted trying to get the hero tokens too
If you're R2 spam the scan pulse when enemies are nearby for teammates to see and disruption as well.

    Btw R2D2 can sprint.

I've just played it a lot man, solo playing no groups or anything...I think the second hand I mentioned with flash grenade etc is really important, and as I mentioned a good chewie...Throw in a chewie/Luke combo and ive seen r2 walked to the hangar in one go quite a few times.

Besides, it should be difficult anyway, I would much rather it weigh heavily in the imps favour due to the challenge such a thing as blowing up the death star possesses.

I don't think people realize the advantages of certain load outs. things like personal shield, scan pulse, trip mine, smoke, and flash/sonic imploder all go a long way in this mode

Yeah the more confusion caused to the imperials the better. Ive lost numerous times as imps when a sneaky rebel has activated r2 whilst his comrades have bombarded us with smoke/flash.

Tbh its the kind of mode where even just two or three people working in unison can make a huge difference.
  • the only problem i find with 2nd phase is how easy it is to abuse explosives you can make it impossible for rebels to even get to r2 if played right. i like to use dioxis and thermal detonator with bounty hunter. 2nd phase is the most fun out of any map/mode that came out of the death star dlc.

Phase 2 can be very chaotic at times, depending on what the Imperials do at the start..

As long as R2 avoids bottle necks it isn't that hard to get him to the check point.
