As much as I'm enjoying instant action , the bots feel like they are spread out too thinly on the maps because the bot amount isn't high enough. Having played the PC version with 20v20 mod it feels much better, so maybe they should have considered adding more bots for Xbox one X and PS4 pro consoles because I'm certain 4k consoles have enough CPU power for more.

I don't think it's even related to performance. The number of bots increases slightly as you turn up the difficulty, so maybe they limited the number of bots to keep the game from being too easy/too hard? I've been defeated a few times playing on just Normal difficulty.

Either way, games need to be 20v20. I'm on Xbox One X, so I can definitely handle it.

I've played modded IA with 32v32 all ai hero's enabled mod. Performance is fine, what becomes more apparent is bots getting stuck, running into corners of the map and converging to one control point. Less bots hides those flaws in the ai.

I play on ps4 not even on ps4 pro so when the bots on Co-Op and IA spawn in like the groups there is a lag spike; they could fix that by not spawning So many in One spot and I know that's probably not what you were talking about but that would fix a lot for performance and then they could add 20v20 for ps4 and Xbox and more for PS4 Pro and Xbox One x and Pc, and yes they need to work on the ai pathfinding but remember this is the first update with IA and Co-Op and more ai not the last update, if it was the last update I'd be pretty confused a little too. Not trying to sound rude to you I understand but give them time lad.

  • The only thing that modder likely did was alter the spawn rate of AI heroes. From what I've heard even a lot of PC users cant handle the 32v32 mod. It wasn't done for a reason.
I have a 2 year old computer that was mid range at best when I built it. I have all graphics settings cranked to max and am playing the 32v32 mod. Zero lag, zero lag spikes. Don't know what my frame rates are but they must be above 45 all the time because it's perfectly smooth. This is actually something I've always been amazed by, both in the 2015 game and the 2017 game. The graphics are insanely nice and yet the hardware required to do it seems minimal to me. Score one for Frostbite, I guess.
Anyway, at least when it comes to PC, there is never a good reason to restrict players from changing any options/settings. They should always start us off with their recommended settings, for example 12v12 team size (or whatever it is), but then let there be an "advanced options" toggle that comes with a system performance and gameplay warning that says "we haven't tested this, do with it what you will."

I sidegrade, rather than spend hundreds on the latest hardware, i just move to slightly faster hw than my last pc.

currently using; i3 3770k, sli mobo, gtx 1060 6gb, 18gb dd3 ram, ssd 120gb for os, 1tgb msata for games

last pc was a sff, itx mobo, i5 3570k, gtx 1050 ti lp, 10gb dd3 ram.....

i purchased my latest tower case for less than £20 used, pretty banged up, i buffed out the dents and repaired some damage.

why spend more than you need to ? :)

been using computers since windows 3.1 and this is the first mobo with overclocking capability (purchased it so i could play wildlands at a decent fps due to it requiring cpu power over gpu power)

but you are right, the frosbite engine is very optimized.

  • All of us here want the Sequel and Original Trilogy Maps added to INSTANT ACTION and COOP. Although there’s been no “official confirmation” on the addition of these eras, Dennis’ comments about wanting to get to parity between multiplayer and single player, then continue adding to both from there, give us an idea of what to expect.

We also know from Dennis’ comments that we are moving beyond the Prequel/Clone Wars era for the time being and shifting focus elsewhere. He has said that the sequels will be the next focus, which makes perfect sense.

We know from the Roadmap that we’re getting new reinforcements and appearances between October-November. And we know that we’ll ALSO be getting reinforcements and a new large scale (read Capital Supremacy/Instant Action/CoOp) map in December from ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’

They have said that December will be the “biggest update yet.”

All of this had me salivating for what’s to come for INSTANT ACTION and COOP, So let’s look into the crystal ball for the rest of 2019...

    October -November 2019
We know about the skin events for Luke and Maul in October, we know CoOp will get another 5 attack/defend scenarios, and we know about a new menu system for Era Selection, but nothing else has been confirmed. Rumors of skins for PT Infiltrators are there but nothing solid.

With December Rise of Skywalker content on the horizon, It wouldn’t make much sense to jump to OT content then back into ST content.

So I believe that we’ll see SEQUEL TRILOGY reinforcements released in Oct-Nov. Maybe one a side. Maybe more.
Likely Candidates are Resistance Pilots and First Order Pilots or possibly Praetorian Guards instead. Executionor Troops and Riot Troops. At this point, I think that the Wookie Warriors will be replaced by Resistance-Specific units.

There could also be some Legendary skins for Luke, Han, and Leia during this time. This gets a variety of additional heroes ready for inclusion to play in the upcoming SEQUEL TRILOGY CS maps.

Remember, OCT-DEC 2019 are in preparation of a large scale CS map (and likely the beginning of the ST for IA/CoOp). If parity is to be achieved you must offer a similar experience to CS/IA/COOP as there is in the PT.

In December, the BIG update happens. Could be the biggest for a few reasons, but my money is on the launch of CS for the ST.

I think come December, we’ll get the following:

    1. New Large Scale Map (CS)
    2. Obviously, the Launch of SEQUEL TRILOGY for CAPITAL SUPREMACY with this new Rise of Skywalker map
    3. New Heroes: Poe and Hux
    4. New Skins: (Ep 9 Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo, Palpatine?
    5. Legendary Skin: Ep 9 Lando
    6. (More) New Reinforcements: Sith Troopers, Knights of Ren (maybe). Resistance is hard to guess but there will be a new light side reinforcement here.
    7. Launch of SEQUEL TRILOGY INSTANT ACTION and COOP with the entire roster of sequel Maps joining the rotation.
    8. The entire roster of SEQUEL maps joining CAPITAL SUPREMACY.
    9. I personally hope for Rise of Skywalker Starfighter Assault map in December. Much like Last Jedi. An epic conclusion to the saga would likely feature a massive space battle that would be perfect for SA. Besides, the trailers have shown X, A, and YWINGS and posters have shown new tie fighters so it’s a good bet that it could happen. A new SA map would also help generate interest in the mode.

    JANUARY 2020
I think January will be a quiet month for updates following the massive December one, but if it has any substance it would probably feature any maps that didn’t make it into the CS/IA/Coop rotation in December,
And/or any Legendary Hero skins that didn’t make it in earlier. The skins are far
More likely to happen here instead of in 2019. I can see them as events... But I think it has to happen by January. Because after December/January the SEQUEL TRILOGY will be pretty much finished. There simply isn’t that much content to be had for maps. This clears the deck for 2020 and sets us up for ORIGINAL TRILOGY CONTENT.

With a stated desire to move on from the Clone Wars, and the Sequel Trilogy in the rear view after The Rise of Skywalker , I believe that 2020 will predominantly feature ORIGINAL TRILOGY CONTENT.

But before we get there, I think we’ll take a detour back to the PREQUEL ERA...

    FEBRUARY 2020
February will see the release of Clone Wars Season 7, so it’s a perfect time to release some long rumored content:
    1. New Heroes- Ahsoka and Ventress
    2. New Appreances - 332nd (Ahsoka's Legion) and Galactic Marines

    MARCH 2020
In March, the Original Trilogy will be in full swing. I fully expect a larger update featuring:

    SCARIF

With Scarif, I think we’ll see the following content:
    1. New map for Capital Supremacy
    2. Scarif for Instant Action/Co-Op
    3. New Heroes - Jyn Erson, Director Krennic
    4. New Default Skins. Rebels Marines (Assault, Heavy, Specialist), Rebel Officers (like Tantive IV and Rogue One Yavin Base. For the Empire, three default Shoretrooper skins for Imperials (Assault, Specialist, Officer) 3 and Tank Commander Heavy
    5. New Vehicle - Imperial Tank
    6. New Reinforcements - Enforcer
Empire = KX ISB security droids for Rebel = shock trooper (like Cara Dune)
    7. New Reinforcements - Infiltrator
    Imperial Pilots
    Rebel Pilots ( Blue squadron)

SCARIF is the only movie NOT represented by a map and Rogue One is Dennis’ favorite... so there’s that.

    APRIL 2020
“Light” month content wise with the addition of 1-2 OT maps to CS/IA/COOP

    MAY 2020
    1. DEATH STAR TRENCH RUN.
An iconic map from the OT AND a perfect starfighter assault map
    2. Legendary Appearance - Obi-Wan Kenobi (old Ben)
    3. Epic Appearance - Han Solo ANH
    4. Reinforcement appearances INFILTRATOR (Rebel Pilot Orange jumpsuit)
    5. Death Star Officer skins (black uniforms )
    6. Death Star Trooper skins black helmets
Maybe this is wishful thinking, but by May 2020 we could be in a position to see the INSTANT ACTION verison of STARFIGHTER ASSAULT. With the addition of Death Star Trench Run it would be a perfect time...

    JUNE-DECEMBER 2020
    1. All remaining maps added to the CS/IA/COOP rotations (including those NOT currently in CS like Jabbas Palace and Administrators Palace.
    2. New Reinforcements: ENFORCER (Imperial Royal Guards and Rebel Honor guards.)
    3. New skins: imperial Shocktrooper, Rebel alien/human heads (helmetless/helmeted )
    4. New Reinforcement: AT-AT pilot, and Wookie Warriors removal from OT
    5. Four (4) New Maps for CS/IA/COOP (all but one map would be new creations—not 2015 ports). These maps include:

    SULLUST
New default skins for rebels the yellow and brown uniforms from the SULLUST map and magma troopers for the empire. Sullust
would draw heavily from the campaign for inspiration. The indoor sections are reminiscent of the Sorosuub refinery and pipeline maps from BF2015 and the outdoor sections recall the Sorosiub Centroplex.

    BESPIN CLOUD CITY
Also using the Campaign map for inspiration, Bespin would be a map with night lighting (and a dusk and daytime variants like Cloud City from BF2015).
Reinforcements - Rebels would be map specific Bespin wing guards.
Hero Appearances- LUKE BESPIN And if you’ve played the campaign, you know that the lighting, coloring, smoke, and steam effects from both Bespin and Sullust heavily recall the lighting from the next map...

    CARBON FREEZE CHAMBER
This would be a completely ported map, and would hopefully come along with BESPIN. Most locations don't have two different maps except for Naboo and Geonosis. But this would be an incredible, iconic map for CS, IA, and CoOp.

    BATTLE OF JAKKU
The Battle Of Jakku was done so
Incredibly well in the campaign that it would be a waste of potential in a year of Original Trilogy content to not make a return. The Battle of Jakku is probably the BEST argument for having Starfighters available (at least on certain maps) in Capital Supremacy, Instant Action and CoOp. This map more than any other, perhaps, is perfect for the CS rotation. When playing through the Battle of Jakku in Campaign the skies are utter chaos. Tons of fighters, Capital ships, cruisers, laser blasts, and explosions everywhere in the sky... meanwhile it’s all out warfare on the ground as the two sides fight for control.

    Random 2021 Content
    This is total wishful thinking...
I still have hopes that at some point in the future we’ll get a “second assault pack” of maps including ported remastered versions of Outpost Beta, Forest Moon of Endor, Jundland Wastes, and Sorosuub Centroplex. Would also love a Battle of Coruscant SA map and a Jedi Temple/Library map for CS/IA/CoOp. Heroes like Padme, QuiGon, Mace Windu. Villains like Jango, Cad Bane, and Aurra Sing.
Rebels Content like Kanan, Sabine, Thrawn, and Grand Inquisitor, with the Ghost (featuring Hera and Chopper) as a hero starfighter.
Sequel Content like Maz and Snoke,
Mandalorian content... I this game goes on for years it’s all in play.

  • Scoundrel That's pretty good except I disagree with the 2021 (I know you did say wishful thinking, but). It's just Soo.. weird It sounds like a mod I would never play them or want them in the game. I think 21 will be the year where they start slowing down but other than that, a few things that I'd be surprised to see in the game but, pretty good.

  • Here guys watch BattlefrontUpdates' vid @2:00 mins to the end, he says a LOT about Instant Action!

Yeah I watched the vid yesterday. Main reason I subscribed to him years ago because he doesn't have bias towards any game mode or feature and finds/asks the questions the community really wants to know about.
  • Is it possible, that the "learning process" of the AI in Instant Action is still ongoing?
I played as Obi-Wan yesterday and faced AI Maul and we started slowly walking towards each other, blocking. AI Maul started attacking me, but only, when we already stood "in" each other. This made me think, that Maul could be possibly a bit more aggressive.
Today i played as Obi-Wan again and again i confronted Maul on the battlefront. We blocked and started walking to each other but then Maul used his Spin Attack to get behind me and started immediately attacking me. He did that 2 or 3 times. He also did the same in another match on another planet against Yoda.
Did someone else of you experience something similar (behavioral changes of AI characters)?

Yes shortly after release I experienced this in every match maul doing that I also seen bossk gang on me to and coordinate whenever I see this I run away now. If I can get my recording software working I will try to get footage
  • Instant Action is soooo fun!!!!

I just really hope we get some more maps soon! Capital Ship interiors would be perfect additions whilst we wait for Episode IX!
Instant Action is on the horizon! Thank you DICE so much for this incredible addition to the game!
  • If DICE are saying December will be one of the biggest updates ever, could they mean ALL ST maps for CS/IA or COOP? That would certainly be the largest. A map and a couple reinforcements are big, but not one of the biggest updates. With all the ST maps in December, people won't just be playing one map in CS as in sure map rotations will be geared towards the ST instead of CW. Just a thought

Perhaps the ship interiors could be added as a separate mode to Instant Action. Basically just the ship phase with hero and reinforcement AI, about 12vs12 and playable in splitscreen. When the OT and ST are added to CS, both IA modes would receive new maps.

It could work as another mode. But that'd probably take much more effort and time... I just really want those interiors to finally come to offline modes. I think you could fit 5 command posts inside of them, they are quite spacious and would be fun conquest maps.

I mean they did say Geonosis is the biggest map they ever made (I think DICE as a company, maybe not but anyway) before we got it for GA and when they released it, it's a pretty big map so if they say largest update maybe it will be TWO large maps idk but good thought.

I believe it was in the CT for the September update.

  • Would be possible allowing us to change tank CIS skin? I prefer the basic brown
    Battlefront OFFLINE with BOTS
  • I would like to see a pre battle naboo map for I.A , or at least a mid-day time for it. Also a port of the walker assault maps from battlefront 2015. I think those maps would work perfect for I.A. I miss the endor map from 2015,still the best map in my opinion .

If we're lucky, that feature will come as part of the Reinforcement Appearances, which I believe are coming in the October Update. While it will most definitely focus on Special Units (Aerial, Enforcer, and Infiltrator) it might include vehicles and starfighters as well.

"Nothing to confirm on this right now."
    Oooof.
Most of the other info the video mentioned sounded pretty promising though. Since Instant Action released I've basically done nothing with my life but work, eat, sleep, or play IA (mostly work, sadly). I have tried to provide some feedback, but I think it has all been said multiple times at this point, so here's my last bit of feedback until the next update.
Instant Action is awesome. If anyone from DICE reads this thread, please know that it is awesome and we thank you! There are many things we would like changed and improved and some of them are even reasonable requests, but still, great job. We all sincerely and earnestly hope you continue devoting time to this mode.
  • watching that video and hearing the developers say they are working on ai to have era specific planet appearce is 100% the problem with this game. That logic fundamentally limits the possibilities with this game and increases the work load needlessly for DICE. All planets should be developed to support any era, it's a planet not person.

So what if we never saw Luke on geonosis doesn't mean one day someone from Lucasfilm will write 1 sentence making it so there for making it cannon. Games have to separate themselves from movies so gameplay doesn't suffer.

I don't get why DICE keeps putting self imposed restrictions on their development and tripling the work load they have to do to support any of their new game modes.

"Era-specific appearance" (clone legions according to planet) is the something THE COMMUNITY has been asking for. That's not a dev-imposed restriction. It originally WASNT done that way to help make their lives easier, not harder.

Making skins for each planet is more work than using the same skin for each planet...

I don't understand the crux of your complaint here 😕

I got all 4 of my classes up to Level 70 and unlocked the last attachment for the FWMB-10K (the only weapon attachment I was missing) during Triple XP, and I got every single ability milestone for Anakin, Obi-Wan, Dooku, Grievous, and Yoda. My Specialist is sitting pretty on Level 69, but I maxed out all of my star cards for that class anyway.

The Community Calendar for October isn't up yet...

EDIT: Never mind, I just saw it. But the update does mention new Appearances... maybe the new Reinforcement Appearances that were on the roadmap? And we'll probably get the rest of the AI Heroes, plus Vehicle AI for Instant Action and Co-op.

  • Ben confirmed no reinforcements appears this month. I was gonna spend crystals on those. :( Hero appearances don't interest me as much as soldier ones do. Hopefully November will be excellent!!
Instant Action is on the horizon! Thank you DICE so much for this incredible addition to the game!
  • Not sure what people were expecting this month. It was never on the cards to get anything other than the missing heroes and reinforcements. From what I’ve seen it might just be the heroes this month and vehicles/reinforcements in November.
They may hit us with the news that the new map in December will launch for instant action and coop at launch though. Then the sequel maps to follow in jan/feb. That’s about the best we can hope for, with OT support in March onwards.
  • Ewok hunt for Halloween, what a missed opportunity to do brain invaders on geonosis.

pretty odd but I can see why The September update was huge and they need a break, Although I am pretty disappointed to have the large endor map I liked the small one it was a callback to the 2015 map and I liked it. I would've preferred if it was another hunt map and hunter like

    Geonosis and Geonosians,

Hoth and Wampas against Rebels or Snowtroopers,

Tusken Raiders against Jawas or Rebels or Sandtroopers,

TheOzzyJedi's Idea: Gungans against Battle Droids, and then on Naboo replace the Wookie Warrior (pls DICE). I don't know about Gungans,

(This is Where it gets dark) not my idea: Anakin against Younglings (lol definitely not but lol)

EDIT: whoops this is offline content not gamemode ideas sorry won't do it again

  • I’m actually pretty interested in the new Ewok Hunt map (which is the “big” Endor map, btw). The fact that they are addding to the mode is only good news for its future. If it gets renewed interest it could be the start of something. It’s a great mode, just got a bit stale.

As it stands there are only two problems with Ewok Hunt.
    1) obviously, it’s one map and only “ewok” Hunt. More maps and scenarios (like Wampa Hunt) would be ideal.
    2) from a gameplay perspective the fact that stormtroopers can just hang in the cave the whole time takes away from the point of the game and turns it into a run in cave, die, repeat scenario , until the stormtroopers run to the spot where they now the shuttle comes down and board before any Ewoks can get there. There should be more ways to get to the troopers. Less shelter. Force them to be hunted.

I’m interested to see if there would be any new mechanics to the game. I could see a scenario where a command post of sorts comes into play. Maybe in order for the shuttle to come, the stormtroopers need to “secure” the post or the landing area before the shuttle can touch down. Forces them to NOT hide in shelter the whole time.

I guess we’ll see. But I’ve talked about this before, I think the way is being paved for HUNT MODE to be a much larger thing and for AI to be involved.
  • Anything on ai reinforcements and vehicles etc are they coming or in this update?

The AI for Grievous, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Dooku will definitely be coming in this update. Apparently the only reason they aren't appearing is because of a glitch.

Droideka and Clone Commando AI are still being worked on. We saw functional Droideka AI in the Gamescom build, but they are improving it for the final release. They intend to release both at the same time; given how long they've been working on them, I would say there's a chance they could arrive in this update.

Vehicle AI I think has a good chance of being in this update; that's a big piece of Instant Action and Co-op that was missing from the release, and given that they originally said they hoped to have it ready for release, I can't imagine it's been pushed back more than a month.

Galactic Assault, Starfighter Assault, and Heroes Vs. Villains for Instant Action in Battlefront II!

Idk Commandos are done it's just the Droidekas left for reinforcements and that gives them a month (not trying to rush them) I think they'll squeeze it in.

  • Hero AI with tweaks will 100% be in
    Droidekas should be in
Vehicle AI was being tweaked after having it working internally. I could see it being delayed until November.
Hopefully we get all 3 this update which looks as though it will be on Oct. 23.

Yea that is pretty logical although I do hope they add more game modifiers!

  • I have got It! Custom battle scenarios ! I put together several game modes and filled in the gaps with my imagination . First I played arcade star fighter on the ryloth map as maul because the map looks alot like the blockade from episode one. Then I played a onslaught match in the naboo hanger map again using my imagination as if I landed in the hanger after the dog fight in space, fighting my way though clones to make my way to the streets of naboo . Finely I played a match of I.A on naboo for the last part of the scenario . It was amazing , I felt like maul sent to naboo by his master to retake the planet . With more options added to I.A , like a option after the meter is filled to 100 you would have to defeat the enemy hero in a dual before you win the match .I could have set obiwan to be the enemy hero and had a epic "boss fight " to finish the scenario . Tell me my fellow I.A fans if custom battle scenarios is something you would like to see come to battlefront ?

I looooooooove "Instant Action" and "Co-Op" a lot. But I am a tad worried. The modes are already a great challenge. If they add enemy A.I. Destroyer Droids, enemy A.I. Star Fighters (doing strafing runs on Command Posts) and enemy A.I. in AAT tank vehicles, wont it become nigh impossible to win?

Just imagine your playing Co-Op at Command Post A on Felucia. I call that spot "Custer's Last Stand" because they come at you from all sides (I love that by the way). But now imagine the A.I. are strafing you from above with a star fighter and they have a droid AAT tank blasting the Command Post. On top of that the Droid Army troops are coming in from every direction. Even as a hero you'd be hard pressed to survive.

This is why we need the ability to play in Split Screen Offline "Instant Action"; even then though (based on what I have seen) it would be near impossible, the A.I. is that good.

This is why we need a Engineer Class to hack enemy vehicles to highjack them.

Don't get me wrong I want the option of the A.I. getting vehicles, I'm just not sure if the match would be winnable, without the above to help us, also to have Split Screen for "Instant Action".
    “There is always hope.”

I haven’t heard anything definitive. Does that include friendly AI heroes as well?

Come on.Nobody likes the idea of creating your own little clone wars stories? Or recreating your favorite battles from the clone wars? Their are so many cool battles from the show, that with more setting can be simulated or make your own original scenarios. That's what it is all about to me, the immersion . I.A has that potential if dice will devote development towards it,but they want our ideas and thoughts on how the community wants them to move forward . Instead every page is filled with the same thing, post after post ,after post repeating the same issues they already know about. People we need to start throwing some ideas out there.
  • Addicted to instant action. Finally able to create my own battles. Please add all eras and maps DICE
  • if your on pc droideks and clone commandos/all hero's/offline co-op have all been modded into the game already.
One thing DICE needs to evaluate is how to get small quick fixes out faster before the end of the month update for the larger fixes. All successful MP game companies live and die off of this. Noclip did a great documentary on digital extreme and they do a great job explaining it.

The highest difficulty setting should be impossible to win, that way you always have something to strive for if you want to challenge yourself in that way. If it's too easy on the highest difficulty, you're going to say it's boring. And if you're not looking for that kind of challenge or you're trying to mess around and create some cool scenario, then you should always be able to lower the difficulty.
This is why I've been saying we need to be able to tweak various specific AI settings (both for enemy and friendly, individually) like damage, accuracy, aggression, ability use frequency, roll frequency, etc on top of the things we already had in Arcade. I know, I know, that's not how the AI works because it's self learning... I don't think I believe that. There is some built in value for these settings and that means they could be altered.
How would altering them affect the AI's previous learning? I have no idea, but I'd like to find out.
