  • I'm not expecting Galactic Assault, because Dennis specifically stated that it would be too difficult to get the AI to do things like pick up and fire the Ion weapon at the transport.

This was a while ago, granted, but we've heard no more since then about GA, so don't expect it.

Plus, as I said, Dennis stated it's NOT a port of a multiplayer mode. It's not something currently in the game.

That was a long time ago. Something could've changed since then, especially given the advances DICE has made in creating AI for Capital Supremacy and improving AI in Arcade.

Hopefully that means one Linear mode and one Non-linear mode. It would be really sad to lose one of the Geonosis maps if they only did one ground based mode. Either way I'm really excited!!!!!! I know that DICE will nail it!!
Instant Action is on the horizon! Thank you DICE so much for this incredible addition to the game!

I think one of the two modes will be SA or something similar. The other one will be the large scale mode. We'll see what they set up for us. It could be anything at this point, like WA from 2015, CS ground phase, large scale TDM....

  • I was too
  • I have to admit, i was expecting conquest but had some doubts about ai reinforcements.
I didnt believe ai heroes could ever come.
Now, cant wait for the IA mode CT to see the numbers of bots on the front, how many ai heroes there will be on each side and if you can set the options of the game like number of kills needed.

"For now. We feel that our eyes are starting to focus on eras other than Clone Wars"

    @F8RGE comment about this.
We can expect ot and st maps to be added to CS and Instant Action in the near future.
  • Now they just need to give Instant Action the option to be played with 1-3 friends and it would hit peak Battlefront levels of nostalgia. I like the idea large scale pve missions or whatever that they are hinting towards. I just hope that it is not stuck with 4 players, and that if I only have like 1 or 2 people i wanna play with that I can freely. I also hope it isn't like Combined Arms from BF5. But then again, Star Wars has such better atmosphere and immersion in the universe than that game does for it's time period that I could probably overlook it.
  • Finally the gameplay from the first Battlefront game from 2004 will be playable with better GFX.

Will be able to play vs AI Heroes like it should have been since day 1 of the reboot in 2015.

No more having to play Cheaters Online on PC.

  • i know my 6 year old son will be thrilled by the instant offline action. Where he can get in vehicles, be heroes whenever he wants. I'm looking forward to playing this with him.
  • Pleased with this CT news, see you all in September.
  • I finally rest. And watch the sun set on an offline universe.

Alright so here's the sad news: The mega huge mode with vehicles called PvE (Player vs Environment) is Online 2 to 4 player Co-op ONLY. Aaaaah that's okay, we can fight for that Offline latter, it's time to celebrate people. Ooooh yeah.

    Are you ready for this????

We have Heroes and Enforcers A.I. for Offline!

Dude that means enemy A.I. Commando Droids, enemy A.I. Jump Troopers, enemy A.I. Destroyer Droids, wow. That means one A.I. Bossk or some other villain A.I. etc, etc, etc will be running around on the map, oh my word. I hope we can pick who that will be.

And here's the insanely good news: We get something very similar to classic "Conquest" for Offline. Thanks to the new spawn in system they are ushering in. We also get all the maps from "Capital Supremacy" as well as any new maps they make for it (including Felucia). We get to use vehicles just like "Capital Supremacy" so I am sooooo happy. B)

Oh yeah and the Republic Commando is coming too, so we will get that Offline as well, happy day.

I'm including only what in the Community Transmission will be available for Offline to us. The rest does NOT apply to this thread. Here's the whole enchilada:

    Incoming transmission!

Back in June, we mentioned we would be sharing more about the future of Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II. Time doesn’t stand still and today we have a host of details for you. What’s coming this month and beyond.

Let’s dive in, but before that…
    aahgqaikw3qr.gif

    AUGUST

    4aoff7z3quo2.png

August kicks off with both the Separatist Dreadnought and Republic Venator becoming playable in Heroes vs Villains. Since the release of Capital Supremacy this addition has been highly requested, and we’re incredibly happy to be adding them to our rotation.

We’ve taken areas within both capital ships and turned them into playable locations that we believe will be great for the small-scale Hero gameplay.

    hc294828dxa4.png

After watching discussions around Capital Supremacy and, in particular, the Capital Ship phase. We’ve made some changes to the interiors of both Capital Ships.

The assault on the Capital Ship will continue to have two sub-phases, but both are evolving.

Once you're breached the enemy ship, you have five minutes to destroy it before the action returns to the ground. In order to destroy the ship, you must first capture one of two available Command Posts located on the ship. If you succeed in that, your team will gain an additional five minutes and be able to fire on the enemy target.

Any damage caused to the enemy target will be persistent, meaning even if you fail in destroying the target fully, you can pick up right where you left off in subsequent Assault attempts.

Next, we’re changing the Capital Ship phases to be based on a timer. This means that the attacking team will now have a five minute window to destroy the generators. Once the time runs out, the battle will return to the planetary phase.

We are also implementing some new changes to the artwork within the ships themselves.

We’re incredibly happy with the way Capital Supremacy is going and these changes will continue to be something we evaluate and monitor over time.

    hx1hk0p9vbug.png

Following the trend of making updates to Capital Supremacy, we’re bringing a much requested, and beloved, feature into the game, Through our new Contextual Spawning system you will be able to spawn on dynamic tactical assets on the battlefront, starting with Command Posts in "Capital Supremacy" and "Instant Action".

Once you have been defeated in battle you will be presented the Squad Spawn menu as normal. Alongside your Squad members, you will now be presented with a list of Command Posts to spawn onto as well.

You will have the ability to spawn onto any Command Posts that your team has currently captured, even if it is being contested.

You can spawn on any Command Posts:
    • That your team is in full control over
    • You will spawn close to the Command Post at one of the pre-set spawn locations.
    • That is contested but under your team’s control
    • You will spawn a little further away from the Command Post at one of the pre-set spawn locations.

You will not be able to spawn on a Command Post if:
    • It’s under the enemy team’s control, even if your team is contesting it
    • It is a neutral Command Post that has yet to be captured

    1qay17h6i2up.png

Over the last few months we’ve released a number of appearances for clone troopers, across a variety of legions. So the Separatists don’t feel left out, we’re bringing three new appearances for the B1 Battle Droids this month. Each of the below appearances will be for all four Trooper classes: Assault, Heavy, Officer, and Specialist.

    55uw3vghb95o.png

Bridge crews serving aboard the Separatist flagships consist primarily of battle droids responsible for managing the fleet’s autonomous capital ships and starfighters.

    cl0rnkimhslk.png

When fighting in jungles and dense forest environments, some tacticians apply camouflage to their detachments of battle droids in order to minimize the chances of detection.

    et47j6z8h757.png

    lmt3m3kvi3pa.png

Inside the secret cloning facilities on Kamino, cadets spar against training droids in simulated battle scenarios.

    3izdypbnxtou.png

The Battle Droids will also have the default and Geonosis based appearances. Both of which will be free to everyone and selectable should you so wish.

The August update is scheduled for deployment on August 28, and we’ll be back with the full release notes next week.

That covers’ August. What about September?

    SEPTEMBER

September is shaping up to be a great month. We have a new large scale map, two new ways to play, a new reinforcement, and a Community Challenge for one of the most requested appearances to date. We’re still a month away from release, but we’re currently targeting a deployment date of September 25.

Here is what we have planned for September.

    zy11xa8ahj9g.png

The Separatists’ invasion of Felucia is nearing its end. With only a single, powerful vehicle left to cover the evacuation of a Felucian farming community, the clones struggle to maintain their last line of defense long enough for Republic transports to collect a large cache of valuable medicinal plants from the village.

As the droids advance towards the clones’ position, the squad chooses to go on the offense, destroying the dreadnought responsible for the attack. However, the droids have a plan of their own: Ensure the Republic can’t escape with the plants by bringing down their Venator.

Similar to other Capital Supremacy maps, Felucia is broken up into multiple areas with a set theme for each Command Post. Themes range from the traditional Felucian farm, a cave that used to be inhabited by an indigenous Rancor or the remnants of the mighty Sarlacc.

Felucia has been built from the ground up with Capital Supremacy in mind and is shaping up to be one of the best-looking planets we’ve built to date (if we may say so ourselves), and while we’ve been having a ton of fun during our internal playtests on it, we’re eagerly awaiting your arrival.

    agql56jm6f79.png

We’re happy to announce that "Instant Action" is making its return to the Battlefront franchise, and we think it’s something a number of you are really going to like. Each month, we’ve seen the comments about a large-scale game mode that can be enjoyed within a singleplayer environment. We know that solo players matter and can confirm it’s real and it’s arriving in September!

In this mode, both teams are fighting over five Command Posts (similar to Capital Supremacy). Hold a majority of them until your team score reaches 100% to win the game.

    Key info
    • Single player large scale combat experience
    • Fight to control Command Posts
    • You fight alongside AI
    • You fight against a team of AI
    • The enemy team will be made up of regular troopers, reinforcements, heroes, and vehicles.
    • You can spawn on Command Posts using the Contextual Spawn system
    • Control a majority of the Command Posts until your team score reaches 100%
    • Able to choose to play as either light side or dark side
    • Can be played offline, without the need for an internet connection

At release, you will have access to all the maps that are currently available within Capital Supremacy; Naboo, Kamino, Kashyyyk, Geonosis and Felucia.
    xvtfdcvkni4c.png

    0x00laea392q.gif

As one of the most elite forces within the Grand Army of the Republic, the clone commandos would come to be respected by allies and feared by enemies. With conflict raging across the galaxy, the Republic organized the Commandos into squads who quickly became a pivotal resource in the ongoing war effort against the Separatists.
    b54yvbt2dwr9.gif

The ability to switch from blaster to grenade provide the clone commando with a great deal of versatility, allowing him to adapt to the situation ahead of him. We’ve been waiting for this moment for a while now and the arrival of the clone commando is almost upon us. We think you’re going to absolutely love playing as them.
    onw7bzil5xj0.gif

For added cool factor you’ll also see your Commando making the change from primary fire to grenade himself. In addition, we’ve added all the necessary animations to ensure we stay as close to the source material as possible.

Primary Weapon: DC-17m Repeating Blaster Rifle

    Left Ability: Anti-Armor Attachment
Reconfigures the DC-17m into a grenade launcher that fires up to three small grenades, with high efficiency against vehicles and shields.

    Right Ability: Repulsor Blast
Discharges a short-range shockwave that temporarily disorients enemies and knocks them back.

    Middle Ability: Battle Focus
Activates a damage protection aura for the Commando and nearby allies. Additionally, any damage the Commando deals to enemies replenishes his base health.

    t98y7z28mma4.png

During September we’re releasing a community challenge that grants you the ability to unlock a highly requested appearance.

More details will follow closer to the challenge, but we have a sneaking suspicion that fans of Luke Skywalker and Star Wars: A New Hope will enjoy this one.

We’ll be back in September with a number of transmissions dedicated to Co-Op, Instant Action, the Republic Commando and the full release notes themselves. Be sure to keep an eye out for all of them.

So that’s August and September, what about later in the year?

    h8xtb32517co.png

As we move through the remainder of the year, we will have new reinforcements, appearances, and a brand-new front menu system which allows you to play the era of your choosing.

We will also be working toward the release of content inspired by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

While we don’t want to go into the exact specifics (no spoilers!), we can confirm that we will be building a new planet and some new reinforcements based on the conclusion to the galaxy-spanning Skywalker Saga.

We’ll be back with more details on each of the above as we get closer to their release.

The next few months are an exciting time for the game and we’re incredibly grateful that you’ve chosen to come on this journey with us. We can’t wait to experience more of Star Wars Battlefront II with you!

    fc5aopydjgk2.png

May the Force be with you.

  • As far as I'm concerned, they've hit perfection with the core game mode design aspects for Offline Instant Action.

I've been going nuts on Twitter for the past hour or so now. Just can't believe this is really happening.

Just take a moment everyone, to realise the sheer exemplary effort that has been into this mode, which is still only catering to a small portion of their community, by the way.

    Absolutely. Incredible.

We should all be incredibly grateful for this 👍

Sounds to me like they've done it. And then some.

  • At long last a true instant action. Its only starting with CT but when OT and ST gets added online for Capital Supremacy I bet Instant Action will be updated in tandem. Its looking like a really awesome rest of the year for sure.
  • "Single Player".
    Where is Split-Screen ?!

I've been asking this too, as my arcade playthroughs (of which we'll obviously be doing more when this beauty releases^^) are done in split screen co-op.

I've not had a response yet, but just because they haven't officially said it'll have split screen, doesn't mean it won't. Might just a given, as it's offline 👍

Just can't contain my excitement right now. They've actually done it, guys 😊 let that sink in.

So far Instant Action looks perfect... Except for the fact it is only available for Clone Wars maps and not the OT and ST maps as well.

But it makes sense since it uses the Capital Supremacy maps and Ben did say that the other maps will be added eventually so I guess that is good enough for me :)

I hope they keep their word and add more maps, but it's something...for now.

looks like i will be reinstalling soon...

Like I said a few days ago to the people speculating about the new modes requiring online and being online only, I figured it would be a mixture of both. It doesn't seem like this game is designed for vehicle use offline outside of the campaign or starfighter assault. That being said, I feel like 2-4 player co-op is a good compromise as it shouldn't be hard to find at least 1 player to play it with.

  • I really don't know, if i am happy or a bit disappointed. One the one hand side, we're finally getting big maps, objectives, vehicles and AI-heroes.
On the other hand side, we know now, that this conquest-style mode will be the only mode, we are getting. No GA/WA mode, no SA and there will be no other eras at the beginning. And of course the fact, that this mode isn't coming in august, but in september (by the way, i would be far more happy, if DICE would have said that before).

    Beyond that, no word about:
    - is IA customizable (difficulty, team count, heroes on/off, ...)?
    - will the trooper AI be updated again (abilities like Ion grenade, flash grenade, stinger pistol)?
    - will IA be playable in offline co-op?
    - can we change skins of our own and of the AI in the spawn menu of IA?
    - will artillery playable in IA?
    - is Arcade getting any updates (AI heroes, Dreadnaught and Venator maps)?

PS: After i survived the shock, that it's only one mode for one era, coming one month later, i can say, i'm happy about this CT.
  • i4tap7rumab4.png
I'm really excited do see the Instant Action gameplay!
  • That CT was a brilliant read! Very excited for Clone Commandos, Battle Droid appearances and the Episode IX stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But the real nugget in the gold mine is INSTANT ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never thought that AI heroes would be added, I just heard others talking about them and thought "nah, not happening". But DICE have done it! They are real and I am stoked to be going up against them next month. AI reinforcements and Vehicles as well which will be awesome! Running around on all those wonderful maps are going to be great, and we get to play Felucia immediately!

Plus we know more maps will be coming so that just gives more incentive to keep the excitement rolling for the foreseeable future!

Only thing I'd like to know is if Capital Ships will be coming to Arcade? I can't wait to try out all the new droid appearances on their respective maps! Clone Commandos!!

Sith troopers for Episode IX perhaps? Those guys look cool!!

I'm a bundle of excitement right now and I really want to jump right in to the fight! One month to go!! Thank you DICE!!
Instant Action is on the horizon! Thank you DICE so much for this incredible addition to the game!

Coop and Instant Action will be in the Felucia update on September 25.

The delay was real but better late than never and it gives me time to get through Gears Of War 5 before then.

I just hope they for sure add the OT and ST maps as well because Endor, Jakku, and Crait are my 3 favorite Galactic Assault maps in the game !!!
  • Guys, I cannot believe it, I really thought they would disappoint us, but finally, after 3 years since skirmish BF2015, we got justice to our cause. Love it!!!!!

The CT states that there will be AI vehicles in the offline instant action so hopefully no issues! And gives my greedy side hope that the online version can be ported offline in the future for pure solo play or customisation 🙏🏼

    Where is Split-Screen ?!

Yeah, hopefully they are able to add local-multiplayer if once they realize AI works fine and challenging in a near future.

Besides being able to play vehicles, because it seems vehicles would only be available for AI.

I did say there was some issues. So 1pt to me.

But for reals, the only thing that bugged the crap out of me is....

In June they said wait for news in July. In July they said they had something for us in August. Now in August they telling us we'll get it in September. So right now the only thing is killing my buzz is I think come September we won't get it and they tell us October. 3 months of wait till news. They could of told us back in June "hey we got a game mode for offline coming in September so hold on. ".

I don't like being baited for months at a time. Just give the damn info and let us sort out the pieces.

Such great news, all around. Here's hoping that the OT and ST maps eventually make their way into Instant Action, but that appears to the the way things will go based on Ben's comment. Thank you, DICE!
  • This sounds great!
  • Quick question, I've never played GA online, so hopefully people who have can clear it up for me.

As we know GA is divided into phases or sections. Arcade maps were based on several of these sections. For the CW maps were are getting for instant action (likely the areas available for Capital Supremacy) , are the Arcade map areas like (Kachiro beach (treetops), Naboo Palace area/throne room and Kamino area accessible in the CS modes (later on instant action modes)?

I know Geonosis GA map is different than the CS map, so we'll likely get the CS map meaning no Trippa Hive area for instant action.

So, in essence, will we be able to play the arcade map areas in Instant action on the large scale maps? Are the treetops we play in on Kashyyk in the CS map, and therefore, be accessible in instant action?
  • The hero AI seem incredible, can't wait to get killed by them over and over! I hope that the Episode IX planet will be made for CS rather than GA, that would mean we could run around as FO troopers offline in the next batch of Conquest maps!! We get Felucia on day one though so I couldn't be more hyped!!

Today is a great day! This deal is getting better all the time!
Instant Action is on the horizon! Thank you DICE so much for this incredible addition to the game!
  • I'm very happy, they listened us! I just hope for instant action to be playable in splitscreen
  • As promised.._

My apologies to anyone I may have worried with my giant wall of text I wrote a month or so ago claiming the new pve mode was going to be online.

What do I know? I'm just a man with a stuffed unicorn.
  • My one concern is whether or not Starfighters will be playable in Instant Action. @F8RGE said a while back that the N-1 Starfighter would be playable in the new offline mode... so can we safely assume that it will playable on Naboo in Instant Action? Along with the other starfighters in the game? That'd be awesome.
