[Faction Thread] First Order vs Resistance

  • Is this going to be the sole objective? Gonna be pretty easy if it is. I play specialist the least, but even that won't be tough over that long a period of time.
  • The biggest problem with the challenge is the specialist.

The class is so freaking awful to play. Way too squishy, way too little damage.
  • I was going to pick resistance but then I saw that first order was going to be picked more. It seems like a safe bet that the first order was going to win so I picked them.

  • They are going to continue to roll out challenges, I think they said.

I, for one, am looking forward to spending time as the Heavy and Specialist. The whole point of these challenges is to get you to play parts of the game you haven't checked out yet and try new things. Nobody is forcing you to participate.
  • I've been disappointed by this initial set of Last Jedi stuff. Completed the five Blast games quickly enough but although the kill objectives for the other challenge coincide with other challenges, it is still a bit of a grind. It doesn't seem to have been thought through fully either; the end of match challenge page doesn't track the objective and the Last Jedi challenge section doesn't break down the kills (you have to get 50 for each class) by class. Who knows how many you've killed by each class?

This is a damp squib after all the build-up. I hope The Last Jedi DLC is more worth the wait.
  • I'm your Backup!

Yes, they most certainly are forcing us to play the challenges. If your choosen faction doesn't win you won't get the Epic Trait Crate for Finn or Phasma.

We'll see. The forums are minority of players as many have said. I think resistance will get a good showing as many want to play as the good guys.

Maybe just play the game and enjoy it?

I do play to enjoy it, that is my point.
Why should I have to play objectives I hate or else not get the reward?
    I would rather buy it

    "why should I have to..."

    You don't.

    ???

My point is, are you telling me that when you play the game you only try and get kills if there's an objective attached to it?

Also I saw many youtubers pick first order as well, saw many internet polls in favour of the first order, and a lot of forums all in favour for the first order.

Sorry, but I want those rewards. I'll always be good at heart.

There is no good at heart if you are on the evil side. Also I think resistance will have more people. YouTube critics obviously will choose the FO, along with a majority of ppl on forums because they are generally the ones displeased with the game. All the kids will be resistance and many others. I think most ppl not one the forums will choose resistance as most people like being the good guys.

I've switched over to Blast when I want to knock down some of the challenges. It's not really fair to your team to play as a Specialist (UGH this is going to be a grind) on a map or at a time when the Specialist has no business being on the field of play.

But it goes pretty quickly in Blast. Other than the Specialist, I'm knocking down 7-15 kills per map (at the top end of the range with assault, middle with heavy, bottom of range with officer).

We have nearly a month and a half to complete this challenge. It's not really a grind unless you make it one. I played for less than two hours this morning and I'm around 70 kills. Plenty of time to play normally and close the challenge if you want to do it that way.
  • Oh, and I grabbed a sheet of paper and pen. I only play one class per round of Blast and then track my kills by class at the end of the round. It's an easy way to find out where you're lagging (eg. my extreme suckitude at Blast with the Specialist and how it took 5 rounds to get 20 kills).

I wish there was a way the game could track the number of kills you have for each class overall for this challenge let alone for the entirety of my carrier. As of now I’m going with the paper and pen method.
  • I have already completed 50 for the Heavy but I'm not looking forward to the Specialist. DICE obviously have shares in companies selling pens and paper, that is the only explanation for the lack of detailed stats tracking.

  • You don't have to do the challenges. Is is too much to simply play and enjoy the game as it is?

  • this is just rich
  • You don't have to do the challenges. Is is too much to simply play and enjoy the game as it is?

You're right, of course. But to do the class kill challenge effectively (that is, within the 42 days), really you need to go at it in an organised manner. However, I'll probably just play the Specialist in GA rather than Blast to complete that part. The bigger problem is I think people just expected a bit more from the Resistance Vs. First Order stuff than this, after all the hype. Something more than just a couple of challenges which are pretty much the same as what they'd already done.
  • So it says that when you choose a faction it will change the entirety of the season and your rewards unlocked. So are we not going to be able to unlock everything coming out of this DLC since we have to pick sides?

I feel like I'll have no problem with getting kills with all the classes until I start using the specialist. Then I'll flop pathetically.

  • So what does picking a faction has to do with TLJ challenge? Obviously both sides will complete the 200-kill challenge. What is the reward for it?

It has nothing to do with which fraction will win and its associated Finn or Phasma reward, right?

To be fair, isn't this the first set of challenges of many? Essentially, we got a 1.5 day Blast challenge, probably to get people thinking about the overall 42 day challenge of the trooper kills.

I expect more, interesting, challenges will be coming after Blast expires.

Also, I will probably end up joining you in finishing my Specialist challenge in GA. It's just too brutal in Blast and the Specialist isn't really equipped for those small, focused maps with players coming at you from every direction.
  • So it says that when you choose a faction it will change the entirety of the season and your rewards unlocked. So are we not going to be able to unlock everything coming out of this DLC since we have to pick sides?

Basically the First Order get free crates. Anyone choosing Resistance will have to grind for it in a salt mine.

Yes. It seems a lot of people have forgotten that this is the first of several challenges.

  • I think it's 50 per trooper class, which equals 200. We have a while to complete it so I don't think it will be too much of a grind unless you want it done faster. A few games of Strike or Blast should rack up most classes. I know Specialist will be the hardest for me.
  • I agree in that I wish the goals were more objective oriented. That being said... it's an extremely hard goal for a lot of people to accomplish. I have a really rough time getting any kills with the Specialist, so grinding to that 50 is certainly going to be tough challenge to accomplish. Good thing I have all month!

    you are a ***** community !

I have already finished all the challenges! it's so simple. 42 day !! 42 day and it finds the way to moan to play the specialist!

I made 50 kill with the specialist in 15min.

and even !!!! for me the challenges should be even harder.
moreover the epic card of Finn & Phasma is given for the weekly challenges and not the faction challenges ! Learn to read seriously !!

So I thought I recall someone saying that if you complete challenges X, Y, and Z you still get the reward even if you're on the losing team? Is it actually winning team only?
