So I'm starting to really like Bossk..

Anyone got any how-to tips for putting him to his best use in both GA and HvV? Cards and the like.

Remember to include the "Why" as well! It's more important than one would imagine! (For me anyway)

  • Bossk is a beast and great at defending or attaching an objective. The cards I use and sorry but I can't remember the exact names of the cards. But I use the card that gives you an extra mine. The mines are really good and you can plant them where the enemy team is close to or right next to an objective you have to defend. They are also useful to use if you know where the enemy team spawns in. Like naboo they spawn in those rooms so plant them and kill them as they come out. Then I use the card that gives you less damage whilst using predator instincts since that thing is great for killing groups and heroes. So taking less damage is helpful. And then use the card that makes the gas spread out more. As that way it can get to more people, which means potentially more kills or assists. Either way bossk is easy to use and it's not hard to rack up a lot of kills and assists with him. Plus he grows back all his health making him great if you want a hero for a whole match. He's my fav from the dark side
  • I love Bossk, I find him very versatile. In HvV, if you can find a vantage point to snipe from, it's a good idea to put your mines by where you are standing, in case a sneaky saber user tries to muscle in while you're looking down the sights. Also stand in a cloud of your own gas for similar protection (there is a card which helps this regenerate your health)
    His weakness is that if Rey or Luke gets the jump on him and manages to get close, Bossk can't emit as much DPS as they can, so it's almost impossible to fight them.
  • I used to never play as Bossk. He's still not my top picks for GA or HvV, but he's fun to play as occasionally. My preferred cards for him is the one that gives him an extra 2 mines with a larger detonation area, lingering Dioxis (makes Dioxis grenade last longer), and faster mine activation time. I think Bossk has great abilites, I'm just not super big on his rifle. Its amazing at distance, but most of Bossk's powers are for close range, and his rifle is terrible at close range, in my opinion. There are for sure better Bossk players than me, so they can probably use his rifle in close quarters, but I certainly cant. Like @Voter_Colonel said, if Luke or Rey get too close to you, even with rolling, you arent going to out damage them, and you'll probably die.
  • Regenerate health in dioxis, lingering dioxis, less damage during predatory instincts. He's almost invincible.
  • Lingering dioxis, bigger dioxis cloud and extra mines for GA. He's the master of objective control, imo and can attack and defend with ease.

    For HvV, i switch out bigger dioxis for trap arming speed.
    I've yet to experiment with any predatory instinct cards because his thermal vision is still buggy.

  • For hvv, I prefer both of the mine cards, and the dioxis heal card. The mines do insane damage against heroes, and I like to bring out their potential. Heal on dioxis is great for close quarters. You can pop it on your feet, be constantly healing as your foe is constantly losing health.

    For ga I prefer all gas cards. I’m very aggressive with him, and I simply use his gas whenever it’s available to scramble a choke point, heal myself, or simply get some damage up. I like the additional mine card, but the three mines work just fine against troopers. I would probably drop lingering dioxis for the predator instinct additional time, however predator instincts is inconsistent. If I don’t have wall hacks with it, I’ll just cancel the ability and go about my business with his shotgun sniper
  • Bossk is good for securing objectives in G.A. especially in maps that has closed areas ( rooms or bottleneck ways). in an open field he's kinda in a disadvantage.
    for star cards, others use the "spreading the disease" or "name your poison". personally i use cards like "predator resilence", "multitraps" and "ultimate predator" since l always dive and clear the wave of troopers so my teammates can do objectives. after clearing the troopers, you can lay the traps in front of the obj. or advance your traps much further to have more space for your team. dive, kill, lay traps, back in cover, wait cd, repeat. not a fan of sniping bossk.

    just be careful with blurgg users whos not afraid and also dives. will kill you in an just a matter of seconds.
    or specialist who knows how to flank and will kill you with multiple punches. P.S. i killed a lot of heroes just by brawling

    for HVV, hes good against light saber heroes .
    range heroes destroy him especially leia.

    As for the why: Trap arming speed was the most recent addition, for myself, it prevents people from sprinting/dashing past mines allowing for guaranteed hits with them. Combined with Multi-traps and clever placement it's reasonable to take out 2-3 people by having traps down with the cd back up and using two sets back to back. I almost never leave this skill off cooldown

    Lingering dioxis in HVV is decent, it does something around 20 damage a tic, stops regen, and adds up quickly in aoes combined with grenades/mines. AND the other cards are worse. Bossks heal is far too slow and doesnt pay off because it heals in bursts rather than per second and is a poor replacement for cover+regen. Smoke area is unneeded as most people cannot move out due to placement or combat chaos. And damage reduction is unneeded in predator instincts my opinion due to his mobility (his jump spam at various heights is amazing and that ability increases his speed considerably).

    For GA the default mines are plenty to hold objective points or deter people going down halls. Smoke however will simply prevent people from going through corridors and wipe out entire rooms if placed well with its through walls aoe. Grenades duration is a must. 2 hits kills all but heavies/buffed officers + is an aoe / wall hack. It's the main killing tool along with smoke.

    Easily my go to for both GA/Hvv despite having all other heroes to blue/purple cards. Can easily carry solo in HVV and is hard to counter once you're familiar with him. Extremely strong in GA, add in a single officer helping you with recharge command and he can push and hold any objective. I feel he's the strongest hero without being broken in both modes in all situations. Is fantastic running solo and becomes easily a top placing hero with proper team work. ( in my experience in organized 4v4s all against good players, solo, and grouped GA)

    The potential tips on how-to-use are endless, if you're a pc player you're welcome to hop in discord and bombard away with any questions or just group up. May not be the best player in terms of physical gameplay but absolutely love analyzing builds/tactics for all heroes due to my past history with mmos/pvp/raid leading.

    I just dropped a bunch of CP on him post patch. Bossk is such a beast controlling choke points and smaller rooms with lingering dioxis and spreading the disease. I still can't get the hang of saber wielders, so Bossk is my dude.
  • Just finished a 16-0 finish taking kashyyk (how many Y's is right?) - first beat run in such a short time in a long time.
    - plugged: Chewie, Luke, Yoda and Rey as well as a wookie warrior and an aerialist.
    - run the extended dioxis - because people are used to when it will fade and then go in and die
    - run ultimate predator - especially on GA - victims will present themselves
    - additional mines whatever it's called
    then gas a mine the objective as necessary and set the objective yourself - gas is your friend. Be prepared, like Han, as Bossk is a glass cannon and it's best to get out of dodge when the dodge comes to you...don't be proud, know when to retreat. Map knowledge and drop a few hours over time to feel where and when to do what, position yourself and hit from afar and then hold points with the cards. He's fun but very much glass and so cannot call him OP...Luke in his worst days would ruin Bossk in cqb.
