It’s honestly getting sad at this point. So Rey was so powerful in TLJ simply because she touched kylo? She was magically able to learn force powers simply from a touch? LMAO

Luke should've just done that with Yoda. A lot faster than doing all that running with flips.

TLJ... its painful at this point. I probably won't even buy it when it releases on DVD/Blu-Ray.

No. It wasn't simply from a touch. Not too many people really understood the gravity of what was happening when Kylo was attempting to invade her mind and she managed to look right back.
  • Rogue One is great and Gareth Edwards should get to create a new trilogy and we'll see whose is better, his or Johnson's.

No I understand what happened. This information is from the upcoming TLJ novel, and the video explains just what happened. When kylo and Rey touched she was able to look into kylo’s mind and learn force abilities. She bypasses the training that was needed for Jedi in the past simply from a touch and looking into kylo’s mind. If you like this then that’s fine and up to you but Personally I don’t like this at all and think it’s a horrible explanation of why she didn’t require require training to learn such abilities.

I also loved Gareth's cinematography, Rogue One has the best cinematography of all SW films IMO

Yeah man, it's hard to put my finger on why, but Rogue One is just not controversial. It's almost perfect. It's nostalgic yet fresh, has Vader in a Mustafar scene, has Bail Organa with the most beautiful musical introduction, has new yet familiar info on the Death Star (try to pronounce it like mads mikkelson did, I certainly cannot, lol) it has the original Gold and Red leaders! That made my jaw drop in the theatre, as did Tarkin's appearance. There's also something REALLY special about the Saw Guerra (sp?) scenes with Bodi Rook and Two Tubes that just is so well shot and so well acted that it makes me almost squirm with joy. Bodi Rook has the best lines. He gets to make up the title callsign, he calls Admiral Raddus on the radio, he has the bright idea to radio the Tower and ask for help on Pad 9. I really care for these characters.

Oh definitely. CGI tarkin was great

  • No to mention that Tarkin was a total and complete surprise. Also I gotta say that Forest Whitaker just killed it when portraying Saw's emotion. "Did they send you, did you, come here to kill me?" That line could have been delivered poorly and ruined the scene, but no, it's delivered with raw emotion and undeniable passion, and I find myself quoting him very often. it's a trap, isn't is? I also want to watch some Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai right about now.

  • While I'm at it, I should give praise to the two Chinese actors in Rogue One, Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen. Yen and Wen! I was familiar with Yen from one of my favorite films, HERO, but was unfamiliar with Wen, who I learned didn't speak English before tackling the role of Baze Malbus. But again, both of these guys were fun to watch and played off each other very well. I have both of their action figures, the heavy Elite ones from the disney store. They're rad.

  • The only scene in TLJ that irritates me is when
Luke tosses the lightsaber. I really wanted him to be amazed to see it and tell Rey about his Father and Ben Solo and wow, that scene could've been something really special. But as it is, I cringe. But I like the rest of the film Not love, like.

JJ doesn't bother me at all, I really like Lost and the 3rd Cloverfield movie, I think he's really creative, but yeah Edwards is the best of the new directors so far in my opinion. I want to see whatever he makes next regardless.

Rian set a new gold standard for Try-Harding. He sacrificed the quality of the movie and any possible hope of it standing under repeated viewings for measly horrible "TWISTS!". To surprise first time viewers and proceed to destroy the storytelling quality for the rest of time

Don't forget about the moments he clearly wanted to see and forced into the movie. He didn't think about how it would fit in with the established lore. He made the bombers super slow, and weak to get that WW2 imagery in there, and i'm sure he really wanted that shot of all the star destroyers getting sliced, but didn't know how to get there.

I certainly don't subscribe to the idea that the new Force powers in TLJ are Saga-Killing or anything like that. I especially appreciated it when Rian tweeted pictures of his bookshelf with that Jedi book and how it described Force Projection across great distances. Here's a snippet of the multiple-page tweet. It even says a Jedi can shrink to the size of a single atom. How weird would that have looked? Pretty weird, but hey, it's a 2017 star wars movie is how I cope with it.
    DT60Nj1U0AAD_xW.jpg
For me, that cleared up the debate over Luke "new" abilities, far fetched as they seemed at first. I also can admit that I'm in too deep in my fandom to give up now, I just can't. There are redeeming scenes in all the SW movies I don't love, even Phantom Menace. That scene where Qui-Gon thrusts his lightsaber into the sealed door to get to Nute Gunray, and there's a close-up on his face and the star wars theme plays, that's downright beautiful filmmaking, I never tire watching that. But then of course minutes later we meet Jar Jar and I'm like, what just happened to this movie? Fast Forward 30 mins....lol

This is a director, who holds such little respect for the work of Writers and creators that came before him. That he even took out the Wilhelm Scream because "I want to make my own new traditions"

Heck Kylo even says "Kill the past"

If that doesn't tell you all you need to know about what Rian plans to do I don't know what will

    At this point

If the new Star Wars novels don't amaze me. I'm moving on back to Godzilla and you should all come with me at that point

I'm not writing off Rian just yet. I'm not looking for reasons to hate him, I'm looking for reasons to like him, to be a more positive person, that's all. I hate the lightsaber toss, but that doesn't ruin a beloved franchise for me. I've only seen two of his films, this one and Looper, and Looper was pretty cool. if his new SW trilogy is something I hate, then yeah I'll be on board with the curmudgeony (not a word, but you get it), but as of right now, I'm still into it.

I'm already reaching that point :D . Here within the next few years we'll be having plenty of Kaiju mayhem to soak up.

I haven't played Battlefront 2 in quite a while now. Needless to say, my general interest in Star Wars has slowly decreased ever since TLJ. Solo may be the factor that determines whether or not I step away and let things rest.

    Here it is folks:

Not impressed by the trailer, if anything the trailer lessened what little hype I had for this movie. The actors sounds nothing like han or Lando. But i guess I’ll just haft to wait and see it.

Also where are the familiar alien species? It looks like yet again it’s going to be all new species of aliens with the same bland earth tones.
