Points After Death Situation
Has there been further discussion (most likely but I'm not sure) on whether or not points after death will either be removed or tweaked specifically for when Officer's Presence and Defender are equiped? The points system basically feels perfect (especially since Officer's Presence was fixed), but points after death seems to be rewarding pretty high point stacking for when those two cards are in use (are there any other cards affected?). Anyone else notice this / have evidence to show, etc? Just feels more logical to remove points after death altogether.
Not expecting a change by Wednesday, but in the May patch would be ideal.
Would be great to get some feedback.

Also, the same applies to Trip mines, turrets, assists, thermal detonators, imploders etc.
Basically all classes recieve extra points for dieing, and extra points after dieing.
Dieing to heroes rewards a lot too!
Will upload vid in a few hours.
I'm also fine with players getting points from a kill or whatever right after they've died (no one should be robbed of points and kills from, say, getting a kill from their grenade by throwing that grenade right before being killed, etc).
I'm just talking about what I've mentioned in my OP. Officer is one of my main classes, and I use Officer's Presence. When I've been around teammates and then died I've noticed my points just somehow keep increasing for a while after death, and then when I spawn in again at the bottom it'll show I got a pretty big amount of points (lingering presence or something). Something similar happens when using Defender. Not sure if other passive cards are like this (recharge command?).
I'm sure there have been other discussions about this over the past month or two?
Some discussions, though nothing noteworthy. Officer's Presence can persist a long time after death, and it's not just for the initial first seconds after dying. It also still applies Officer's Presence when being in a vehicle, something that seems to happen to the Defender card too, but less frequently.
Yeah that's what I'm talking about - it's like if you stay alive for a while as an Officer with OP equiped, then every teammate that you've been near gives you points for each one of those teammates that's died, which then seems to be rewarded all in one when you die.
I though there were discussions a while ago about Defender rewarding too many points after death or something and that's how people were getting heroes and points quickly?
OP and Defender shouldn't work when in a vehicle, lol. That sounds like a bug.
All just seems a bit suss.
The Defender bug (with it being applied when being in a vehicle) was fixed in a previous patch, but managed to make its return with the most recent patch.
Of course it did lol, hopefully it'll be fixed next week.
We can always hope

Maybe it sums you up how many total points you have earned from Inspiring presence.
Haha yeah man exactly this, and yeah it does kinda feel cheap
It also goes to enemies after you die. Thats the only thing that needs fixing
Aside from that, that class and all other classes and the points gained seems reasonable.
Yeah I know man, pretty annoying.
I don't get what you mean by Defender getting points after you die. How does that work? Surely you can't be taking damage after you die? Or is it just a bug which I've not seen/experienced so I can't understand it. Or I misunderstood your point. Idk.

I've had the vile OP card unequipped, since the last time I was in one of your Officer threads (so extensively.)
That makes me think that once presence effects someone you start getting a flat rate that is only being tracked on your end. And then even after you die the game thinks it's still active since it isn't tracking other people and is just looking at you.
Well those are all fair way to get points after dying. It's not like a officer or heavy they just stands there after they die and they just get a bunch of points because of this star card they have.
Im not sure i agree, maybe in blast i would but in objective missions i think BP gained after death is fine, imagine you storm a checkpoint objective with your squad, their healing is regened quicker due to OP card, and you drop a turret, one lucky headshot can drop you while others are benefitting from what you brought to the party, it would completely negate these cards and the point to them,
Getting BP from dead bodies in your team is wrong that i agree with, but if you die after your card effect has kicked in or your turret has dropped then you should still benefit from it imo
I took the OP card as something that when you went near an injured ally their regen immediately quickened, and its for the length of their regen (or until they died whatever came first) so its not like you continually had to be there, so its like a one time boost hence why it continues after you die
Maybe we should think of it like the officer gives a medikit to the injured party (or whatever star wars calls it, bacta juice or whatever lol) like in final fantasy when you apply regen on your party,
The logic for it has to be consistent. The Acid Launcher has to damage enemies for a fixed period of time. If it's damaging enemies, the player who fired it is contributing to his team effort and should therefore be rewarded for that help towards his team. If people didn't get points for it, then the acid would have to stop damaging enemies the moment the player died, which would be ridiculous. Same goes for scan dart, grenades, anything. Deactivating a grenade by quickly killing the person who just threw it would be silly, so as long as it causes damage or contributes an effect, points should be awarded.

That Specialist rework was disappointing.
Things that deal instant damage or damage over a fixed period of time (as mentioned above) should continue after death until they've ended as they don't last long anyway.
Thats just daft though, the OP card is a one time hit to a fellow teammate, you only accrue points because its when their health regens at a faster rate because of your card, so if you affect 5 soldiers before you die you've still done your job, the points gained are based on their health regen, think of it as DoT except the opposite, DoT gets you points as damage is accrued, OP card gets you points as health is accrued by affected soldiers

^^ THIS ..... usually when my phone rings or one of my kids is bothering me while i'm playing.... then I'll just die for the points too
Put it this way. If you throw a thermal detonator or fire your acid launcher just before you're killed, I imagine you don't only expect the kill, right? Wouldn't you expect the points associated with the kill? I think the same theory applies here assuming the effect doesn't immediately wear off for Officers Presence. You're using a Star Card slot to equip it and Officer has quite a few good cards to choose from. Wish we could confirm that Officers Presence continues to effect teammates after death. If you don't effect your teammates, you should not collect points. But if you do continue to effect your teammates, you should collect points until your teammates are no longer "inspired".
Not sure how Defender works in this scenario? I don't recall earning points after death with defender equipped. Maybe I just didn't notice.
Either way, doesn't bother me. Right now I generally only use Officer Presence when my team is holding a choke point for the round win. Nerf it again, I will just not use it anymore in those situations. Not a big deal. My favorite build for Officer anyway is: Improved Battle Command, Bodyguard and Brawler.
Edit: Another scenario is that kill assists shouldn't give you BP's either. Maybe gives you a score but if you assist your team with health regeneration after death with no BP's then it's only fair you receive no BP's by assisting your team by damaging the enemy.
Remember, this is all assuming you continue to inspire your teammates after death. Otherwise, BP's shouldn't accumulate after death.
