Will you buy skins to support the game?

Prev134
Just wondering will anyone here buy skins in the hope that it will lead to more content? You do risk buying skins for a game that will die anyway. Personally I buy skins when things I like come out. With this May update I will be buying 1 or 2 skins and if we get a good clone wars season after this I will buy 3 or 4 then.
Scorch: I think we may have to blast our way through that... And I'm *not* just saying that because I love to blow stuff up.

Ben said the plan is to port over full Starfighter assault with objectives over time.

Already supported it by buying the Elite Trooper edition, I just wish with Elite, Collector etc editions we got reversible covers like the standard cover on one side and the other edition on the other side, for if we wanted to switch them around.

How much I spend will be directly related to how good the Starfighter arcade and Jabba’s Palace for arcade turn out to be.

When I see the Elite Trooper edition on sale for $15 in six months or so I will get it just to have the different cover in my collection.

I don't think so, I have so many credits yet have very little interest in current and future options. The only skin we have right now I would have considered buying with real money is helmetless Iden. Trench coat Han I really like but probably wouldn't have spent real money. Not interested in Lando's disguise because I love his general outfit. Leia is a maybe. I have so many credits and will continue to earn credits but the customization options just don't interest me.

So far I bought Endor Han & Leia with ingame credits. I'm probably going to buy a few skins for real money (like Boush Leia), but only the ones i'm really intersted in. I try to unlock human trooper heads with ingame credits.
You do risk buying skins for a game that will die anyway .

You can still use all the skins in offline/arcade.

  • I will if we get some cool clone skins, or something like a TPM or AoTC skin for Obi Wan (if he ever makes it into the game...)

If they make more skins like Leia maybe. Right now no.
I’d like the skins to be cheaper so we get more but I don’t see that happening. So two new skins every couple months doesn’t warrant support imo.

Unlike Battlefront 2015 where in offline the skins were random.

No. But I would support it by purchasing other types of trinkets or shinies.

Like my own capital ship that I can ram into starfighters! :D
  • Yes, if SA arcade is a direct port of the MP version, just not TDM.

I will support even if it is a TDM style. My big question is will it have all the maps. If any knows the answer please respond thank you!
  • I honestly don't know atm. I feel like either option is potentially bad.

I would pay $20 for a player controlled capital ship! (even if it was offline only)

  • **** no. If I ever buy skins then it will be because I really want them. SWBF2 isn't some kind of charity. DICE has already made a ****-ton of money off of it.

    1. I would not buy a skin I don't like.
    2. Nope it's not a charity, its a business so if they don't make money they wont make content
    3. Yep but EA needs to see cash flow. If by purchasing skins I like anyway and they are more likely to give me more content because of that it's a win/win.

Maybe so, but not if I get the impression the game is not going to last long. I’m not wasting money to get skins with no new maps or new game modes
  • Does anyone know how much the Boushh skin will cost? I've seen plenty of speculation but haven't found anything officially confirmed.

if they add good skins for sure but nothing they have put out has impressed me like even boussh leia like other then jabbas palace it would just seem off for me.
  • If they add Leia in a slave's outfit, no, I will never spend money on a skin.

That's a few times you've had an issue if Leia's slave outfit released. I think she looks lovely in it.

Not sure it would be wise for her to be running round Endor in it, but I certainly wouldn't stop her.

    Get over yourself.

Probably not now, I feel it would be a pointless exercise if the current flow of new content is anything to go by, I think it would take more than a few skin sales for them to make any serious re-investment into the game.

A woman should be proud of her body
I appreciate the sentiment and gave your a post a like even so. But for future reference,
A woman shouldn't do anything that she doesn't feel like doing. (The same thing could be said for anyone of any sex or gender/identity.)
A better choice of words could be "The human body should be celebrated."

Slave Leia/Jabba Slayer Leia was a costume that was against the wearer's choice.
This makes sense because, exploitation, slavery, and being forced into anything is usually something people avoid.
That being said, to leave the skin from the game is to censor this knowledge.
To leave this costume out of the game is to leave players without choices and personal freedom to wear what they want. (Because some women do want to run around in metal bikinis, just as some men want to run around in loincloths, or be shirtless all the time. Nudity doesn't devalue a person, because we're all nude, all the time, under our clothes. Our clothing doesn't change our value as people.)

I want Leia's Slave/Slayer costume. :) Because I would enjoy the skin. I think it's empowering, because it shows even in the worst conditions, she was able to overcome her imprisonment and accomplish something regardless of what she was forced into wearing.

Oh yeah, and to address the opening post, everything dies anyway, but we still busy our lives with things/jobs/relationships. /Give attention to entertainment that we enjoy.
The game may die but I'm going to happily spend my money on it, while it's here, because I want to support the game/it's creators in some tangible way. (I doubt additional content will be made based on these actions, but if it does, Bonus~!)

But not when it is deliberately shown in a slave's outfit against her consent. This is my opinion, and I was just stating it. I have my reasons for pushing strongly against it. I will not say what they are, because I have seen evidence that it will start a firestorm.

It will not promote the knowledge you hope it will. Yes, the body should be celebrated, but not in that way. In a way that honors it instead of objectifying it. People are free to run around and do that in real life, if they so choose. I do not think that it is okay for them to have the freedom to run around unclothed in a Star Wars video game, else this would be an M game and I am pretty sure Dice does not want that. Even then, if they included that skin, they would have to change the rating of the game. This is my opinion, and since not everyone likes it, this is the last time I will bring up the subject.

  • Not a chance I would buy anything.
  • Probably not because they don't effect gameplay.

I would if it guaranteed content though because it's the only way theoretically to get more, but I don't trust EA to not just keep the money and keep stringing us along.

I would need transparency. Like if ea says " if make 100k on skins you guys get couscant map for ga and hvv, 2 new heroes and some star cards." And include a visible money/progress tracker.

I hope people on here don't expect new star cards in any volume since they got rid of loot crate system. However we will be getting a lot of skins to use - what good they are as the game dies from boredom and repetitive maps and modes.

  • I would bet that most of the money made from selling skins goes directly to EA. DICE gets a piece but the piece isn't very big.

EA did the same thing to Star Wars: The Old Republic (MMORPG). I played it for over three years and even with the huge amount of Cartel Market sales the game updates became more infrequent and smaller.

The main reason I quit playing it was EA's decision to merge all of the servers into two servers, one being West Coast, one being East coast. What they failed to mention before the server mergers was that both servers would be physically located in Virginia (U.S.A.). My server ping (you can see it in-game) went from 17ms to 90ms. I already had one foot out the door and that made the decision for me.

A couple of weeks later I start reading about the SWBF2 MTX fiasco and decided to buy SWBF2 Deluxe Edition. Started playing on November 20th and still playing to this day.

I play the PC version on a high-end computer (GTX 1080ti 11GB OC, 27" 2560x1440 G-Sync Monitor, all settings Ultra/Max) and the graphics are absolutely amazing. Starfighter Assault is so beautiful that I honestly do not care if I get my butt kicked. It is such an amazing-looking game mode and I wish every player could see what I see when I play SA.
