Possibly, but It would require some way to turn something like Oxygen into another material, though I don't think it would end in 100 years. I think it would be something like Revelation from the Bible, and if that ever happens I would definitely shout the news here lol. How do you think it would end though MMD?

As someone who gets quite anxious about the end of the world and whatnot I have a few thoughts :P In no particular order:

    1. Nuclear War
    2. False vacuum theory. I once found out what that was... and regretted it. From what I understand, there's a theory (and a very real possibility with our current understanding of physics) that the universe exists as a false vacuum. That means something like its in a low energy state, but not its lowest potential energy state. If a huge cataclysm generates enough energy, It could trigger the universe to become a true vacuum. Which would basically involve a giant bubble of death expanding at light speed, compressing all of matter and the universe and everything into a giant molten ball where the current laws of physics dont apply. And we would probably never see it coming. Apparently. That... does scare me. Like one could exist in the universe right now. At least with human made disasters you know we were just too stupid to exist. But the universe could be trying to kill us too because thats fun...
    3. Disease. Probably.
    4. Meteorite
    5. Sun expanding in 5 billion years and baking us all
    6. Global Warming

  • Pharmaceutical companies are going to release a medicine that causes mass death.

Elixir sulfanilamide the medicine that killed 100 people in less than a month in 1937 as an example.

Then everything will go resident evil since Pharmaceutical companies are the bad guys in that series that cause nearly every problem.

Interesting take on that. A medicine that causes a disease. That could happen when you think about it. don't think it would be world ending unless people flew all over before the disease was recognized.

False Vacuum theory would definitely be scary, and the scariest part about that would be not knowing when it hits. Though Nuclear War isn't a possibility unless someone is able to develop a way to take out Nukes before they explode consistently.

Hmm, now I don’t think Zombies would really end the world. In all the horror flicks, There is usually discrepancies in them. Here is why I think the WWZ doesn’t work.

    1. Zombies decomposing. Essentially waiting for a certain amount of time in places zombies would have a hard time getting to (Like the Himalayas, Any kind of Mountainous terrain, a Island far enough away) And waiting it out with good enough supplies, eventually you could return to the mainland and most if not all zombies would be so decomposed that they could barely move or even walk, heck some of them might die off, or turn to skeletons.
    2. The Bible: Revelation definitely doesn’t state zombies.
    3. Initial plauge: How would the disease or virus even get out, and how would someone design it? I think we have a few decades before that is capable.
    4. Humans. I think we would be more likely to die because of ourselves than zombies if Revelation didn’t exist. Though zombies could happen in a few decades, by that time there would be good enough tech to develop a antivirus. Heck, unless there are zombie right activists, I don’t think that Humanity would fall. A zombie apocalypse is less likely to happen hypothetically, than a Nuclear war/Other disease like a smallpox mix with something else. Hypothetically speaking lol.

On a serious note, I'd narrow it down to one of three scenarios:

1: a war goes nuclear and we blow ourselves up
2: a pandemic (something which we've been long overdue for) sweeps the globe
3: a previously undiscovered extraterrestrial object slams into earth and we go the way of the dinosaurs

Anything can happen, at any time, but I personally believe these things are something I could very well see in my lifetime.

I remember seeing on some documentary that there were a couple of super volcanos over due to erupt and that if they did the ash cloud could block out the sun for a long time and make the air unbreathable. I think Yellowstone was one of them. So we have that to look forward to.

Then if the virus was airborne, then you would have to wait it out yourself, and by yourself. Or you can destroy the bodies of those who die. Better to probably take the family and a few trustworthy friends and find a place that you can survive in away from the population. Though you could always stake it out alone!

Well, we could wait for the sun to explode... Or we could have a nuclear war sometime soon. Probably the latter. Then, five minutes before the end of the world, a three minute clone wars season will drop, featuring everything the community asked for and more. We watch, go "oh my gosh, that is amazing!" Putting my serious head on - since you said this lifetime @GenxDarchi the only realistic one is nuclear war.

Thinking about global warming etc - they will happen in the next few hundred, probably longer, years. Meteorite hurtling towards us - debatable, as these things are generally mapped and known which direction they will take. Guess it could happen though.

Nuclear war though - especially with the leaders in place currently and the types of politics arising, that could happen at any time. I'd like to think that countries would be sensible enough to 1) avoid war completely, or 2) extend the accords in place that ban chemical weapon usage to include nukes. Not going to happen though.

I don’t think people are willing to use nukes without a system to distrupt them. It leads to a stand-off essentially, unless someone pulls the trigger first, then the world is doomed.

The world as in the planet? Well that will end in a firey blaze in approximately 10 billions years, when the sun has reached it's maximum size during it's expansion phase, to become a Red Giant.

Humanity on the other hand, will not doubt die out way before then, as the majority of us are too stupid to be given the amount of power that is readily available in the use of governments. Someone mentioned Nuclear war as the only realistic option, but that's not true in the slightest, natural disasters could cause global famines, a small comet impact can cause global fires(there is a theory that this happened 12,000 years ago called the Yunger Dryas impact hypothesis), global warming could lead to mass flooding sending us back into the stone age(Fukushima is a smaller scale version).
Nuclear holocaust is the most likely scenario, but it's not the only scenario.

We'll create A.I. and machines that can build themselves. They will find that humans are no longer required for their existence, possibly come to the conclusion that we're the opposite and 'remove' us.

There was a documentary that I saw about 10 years ago, I forgot what channel or what it was called, but it was awesome. It theorised what would happen after machines wiped out humanity. For example, their space exploration, what they would do on other worlds, and how they would react when met with an alien species. I really wish I knew the name of this documentary because I would love to see it again.

I feel it will come as a result of humanity messing around where they shouldn't. Whether that's a biological weapon that spirals out of control, a nuclear holocaust, the advance of A.I., etc.

    It will be on humanity.

A purple alien guy is going to visit us to collect a glowing rock and when he has it he’ll snap his fingers and half of the worlds population will instantly dissolve into nothingness. The human race will live on but it’ll be the end of the world as we know it

I honestly believe the things in Revelation are going to come first, as it would have to be unexpected meteorites to be able to hit us without warning.

Yep, I am a firm believer in the John's Book of Revelation. I may not know everything that will happen or in what particular order. But we are called to be ready for when it does come.

As far as I can tell, there will be a darkening of the sun for a period of time and the moon will turn red, and then a great earthquake will be the beginning of the end.

A third of the earth will also be wiped out.

On Yoda's Flying Chair: The floating chair has a little area in between the hovering part and his cushion that allows him to go whenever he wants. That is why Mace always looks like he just smelled something bad.

That comes after the initial sign, then the first four trumpets, then the woes, then the final wrath, symbolizing the closing of Probation.

Well it will be over 1000 years at least before the world is no more, but before the 1000 years it will be horrible
And after it will be the end

And then the beginning. I will post a thread when it is beginning.
