Running seems like a pretty viable strategy to win the game... I would place the blame on DICE for creating the ruleset which rewards said behavior rather than the players who are doing what they can to win.

I’d place the blame on the players as well, considering we don’t need to run to win. Maybe you’d run to win, and that’s why you sympathize.

Then again, I am speaking to someone who believes that running is an "exploit" and that Palpatines lightning through walls was a "bug" (despite DICE directly stating otherwise), so I am probably wasting my time lol.

I consider an exploit anything that can allow you to cheat your way and “cut corners” to potential victory. Essentially stalling in hopes that you can win when you know you wouldn’t stand a chance against the opponent ready to fight you.
So, yes, I’d consider running, camping, hiding within the map, or hiding on top of the map to be a cheap exploit/tactic.

Well, technically an exploit is using bugs or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers.

Finn is the natural counter to the Emperor and that's just about it. Unless they can nail him to a corner, the Emperor can farm Luke and Rey all day long. I've done both at once before.

With Boba, you just gotta hope you catch him flying with Chewy. Otherwise, he can hide all day long.

HvV is just not a viable mode ATM due to the inability of DICE thus far to balance heroes & villains appropriately. It would probably be a nice QoL change to implement an "exhaustion" mechanic as in WoW CTF to prevent perpetual runners, but with how terrible saber mechanics are coupled with their inability to balance GA and HvV seperately, there are a lot bigger problems with the mode than people being able to run. I don't even play the mode at all because it isn't worth the hassle.

  • Tatooine and Yavin 4 its most annoying map for HvV
They just make game base on Star Wars , nothing wrong with Dark Side stronger than Light Side
And nothing wrong with running or hiding , u just mad because u can't catch them
Run and hide rather than **** only know run into enemy team while being target and died
I feel fun with run and hide
After all this is just your point

what...no. One team should not have a much easier win. That is ridiculous to even consider.

I just played two rounds on Tatooine with @lerodemmy , @Zepheon , and @Phantom_A320 . We were the light side for the first match. We stayed together, strategized, and had to fight off hordes of enemies throwing themselves as us while their target ran around the map 24/7. We were Rey, Leia, Chewbacca, and Lando. The enemy team was Palpatine, Iden, Maul, Boba, and Kylo. As you can guess, the Maul and Boba ran the whole time when they were the target. We destroyed them in terms of overall eliminations; it wasn’t even close. However, since this mode and the target system promotes running and juvenile tactics, they won the match either 0-5 or 0-6. Here’s a glimpse of how we dominated them but couldn’t win because of how terrible this mode is designed:

    trkekqjdmepk.jpeg

We finished with 56 more eliminations than them but because they had the DS on Tatooine - the easiest map for the DS to run as usual - they won.

Fast forward to the next round where we got the chance to be the DS. They stood no chance. They couldn’t run away because we had heroes that could catch them. We were Vader, Boba, Maul, and Palpatine. They were Luke, Yoda, Han, Finn, Lando, Chewbacca, and Rey. Here’s is how hard we destroyed them:

    xm383pogsekf.jpeg
    67c3b41r8hq7.jpeg
    qmsrxcfxrmwu.jpeg

When they didn’t have their crutch to run around the map while the target, they were not only dominated again but we won 7-0. Want to know why we won 7-0 instead of 10-0? Because we stopped killing their target after we were up 10-5. We could’ve swept them in straight sets but decided to show how exploitable the target system can be. We had 169 more eliminations than them in that match.

What’s the point of this thread? To show you how terrible this mode is designed. I don’t know how anyone on the development team can tell us with a straight face that this mode is loved and in a good state. Since day 1, the mode has been infested in terrible exploits. At the soul of the mode is the biggest potential exploit of them all: the target system. It either needs to go altogether or needs to have a 3 minute timer. Skill has completely been taken out of this mode for cowards who want to run and/or hide because they’re too scared to fight. Something must be done about this atrocious mode. Please listen to the people that have played HvV 2015, HvV 2017, and have put hundreds of thousands of hours into the mode. We may know a thing or two about why this mode is broken and needs adjustments.

Lastly, this shows beyond a reasonable doubt that the Dark Side is lightyears better than the Light Side.

I'm surprised they stuck around and played as lightside. The trend I see, especially on Mos Eisley, is they win as darkside and quit after they win by running and camping.

Yes, it's a problem but not sure of a solution unless they changed it to the way HvV was in BF2015, which they wouldn't do.

prices, do you mean proud? I didn't think I have to say this but alright. This isn't a single player game. It's perfectly fine to me if a boss in the campaign was hard (However there is like, one boss...). However regarding a multiplayer online competitive shooter, everything should be on fair ground. It should be determined by skill alone, and if you suck the you shouldn't be able to steal a victory by such an...unfair manner.

HvV sucks. Loved it in 2015 BF, was my favorite small mode and probably the one I played most besides WA. But in this game, yikessss. Could not have been a bigger downgrade. Terrible concept executed to the worst degree. Got me wondering if devs even tried playing it themselves before release. Should’ve just gone the simple route with a hero blast mode smh

The point of OP's post is that the mode is flawed and his team as a team outstandingly destroyed the other team, but that team still won due to villains being able to run away or hide, and also catch any light side hero relatively easily. I never said we should be able to 1v4 so stop imagining things, and finally, life isn't fair. But that doesn't mean DICE shouldn't make a mode balanced in a game I paid 60 bucks for and quite enjoy.
  • The main point in this thread is that the light side needs major buffing to rival the dark side, unless we’re getting extremely powerful new heroes on the light side soon, (Anakin and Obi) that will have more leverage compared to the newer villains.
  • This can be solved by removing the targeting system and replace it with classic elimination or score oriented, like it was done for progression.

Or keep the target system as it's own variant in the new HvV hub and add the classic versions and 1v1.

So let me get this straight, you are crying about a target running in Tattooine HVV yet you were playing on mics with 3 friends and couldn't work out a solution? A running Maul is incredibly easy to stop even for a solo player like me with no mic. He has a big red target over his head! Gauge his running angle then cut him off. Maybe split into pairs to do it. 2 chase and herd him towards the other two waiting with cheap stuns and blaster combo. Done.

Boba could be dealt with the same way unless he's hiding on that tall building near the light side spawn.
Want to know why we won 7-0 instead of 10-0? Because we stopped killing their target after we were up 10-5. We could’ve swept them in straight sets but decided to show how exploitable the target system can be. We had 169 more eliminations than them in that match.

This is a hilarious humble brag attempt if ever I've seen one. You and your best buds realized you were playing against awful unco-ordinated players and decided to abuse the target system to farm kills so you could screenshot your PB's and attempt to show it off. Embarrassing stuff dude.

Evading as the target in HVV is a viable tactic. If it wasn't DICE would've fine-tuned the game mode to disallow it. I don't run but I don't feel the need to whine about those that do. Yes it can be annoying but four semi-competent players on mics should have ZERO problems dealing with it.

Crying? Lol. Again, on a map like Tatooine with Maul and Boba running, only Rey had a chance to catch up. What am I supposed to do? Pick Luke and chase Maul? That then leaves only one person to defend our target. Meanwhile, they have three enemies always seeking our target out while their target runs. So we are either fending off a Kylo, Palpatine, and Maul or Kylo, Palpatine, and Boba.
Brag? No. It’s showing how pathetic and exploitable the target system is. So you try to defend someone running in your opening argument then have the audacity to say we are embarrassing for stalling the game? Careful not to be a hypocrite. Their target camped while this went on so they changed from running to camping.
You call running “evading” and a “viable strategy” but call us pathetic? Lol please. I’ll venture to say you have nowhere near the amount of hours invested in this mode as we do. If there was a way to defend a target from three enemies while simultaneously tracking down a running Maul or Boba Fett on a map like Tatooine, we would’ve figured it out by now. But when the game puts the three fastest heroes on the villains, we have to defend our target against hordes of enemies with endless lives, and their target is just looking to run, it’s easier said than done.

    Yep. +1

The system is flawed from the start. They either need to change the system or balance the two main modes separate so HvV can return to the roots. Or just make it hero blast. Otherwise, the mode has gone downhill.

I’m extremely doubtful we’re getting heroes all season. And if we do, the chances of them being anyone we want are even slimmer. The supposed leaks indicate that Grievous may be coming around August, and with him maybe Obi-wan and an underwhelming Geonosis map. Besides this, I doubt we’ll ever get substantial content.

I hope that you’re wrong lol. While I’m not expecting anything, I figure they have to do something about more heroes.

Went on quick solo game before work. I was the first target on Naboo as Palps, opposite target was Luke. I managed to hit 10k before my teammates took down camping Luke lol. Juvenile tactics has to end, I am begging for it for months.

Saddest thing about it for me is seeing teammates of camping targets trying hard death after death to lower opposite target's health- even considering the fact they are using unfair advantage. Sad, reminds me happy teammates of Lando abusers.

With EA, first you must lower your expectations.

    Then, lower them even further.

While I agree that the Dark Side is far better at running away and using cheap hiding tactics to win, I must say that you and your party like to brag a lot TC.

I'm gonna take this opportunity to congratulate the WolfAvenger player on the opposite team, who managed to out-score you and your teammates despite being on what looks like a far inferior team. I'll say this too: when I've played in a party of 3 (I don't play in a party of 4 because it's far too unfair on the enemies), I've never lost a HvV match on the light side. Especially not against a team of randoms!

So yeah, congrats to WolfAvenger on his well-earned victory. Hope he's reading this.

WolfAvenger was Boba Fett who died over and over divebombing us with rockets to get his points. The match after that, I was only attacking them fir about half of the match, which is why my score was lower that time.

Also, he sent our whole team friend requests after this.

    Who is TC?
Of course you would congratulate a Boba who camped when he was the target then suicided with rocket barrage when he wasn’t. Easy way to make a lot of points by doing very little.
Congratulate me for having 10 more elims than him the first game and more than 6x the elims in the second game! Congratulate me for having 14,655 more score as Boba Fett as opposed to him when he had Boba Fett! Lol

I have to take the bait, though. Play against our group and you won’t be able to brag anymore about never losing a match as the light side (nor do I actually believe you). And this isn’t me bragging on myself. It’s me bragging on my friends and having confidence in our ability. But we’ll continue to let our gameplay speak for ourselves.

While I agree that running makes HvV boring and garbage, I would run and do cheap tactics when I face a 4 man premade and my team isn't a premade. Pub stomping ain't cool either.

(looking at your screenshots I'm pretty sure they weren't a premade since some of their players change across the matches.)
