Just had a nice discussion in belief and wanted to continue it. The thread below was the original start of it. So I am a Christian and believe the end will come just like the bible said it would. I believe in the afterlife and resurrection. What do you believe? And why?

I believe that I have no idea what to believe and live in the present. I live my life in good terms not harming other people. What happens to me in the afterlife if there is one I hope I’m judged on how I treated the people I was in contact with, not the set of arbitrary rules that changes each generation by religion.

Omnism is pretty much were I stand in a way.

I tend to like the idea that all the gods are real and exist in different pantheons that rule or ruled over certain parts of earth.

I kind of fell into this way of thinking after I saw something a long time ago on History channel that had Jesus killing Hades.

    Found it on Youtube.

Have you ever seen American Gods? Seems to be a similar concept, I didn’t finish the show but I do want to go back to it to finish it

Hey, I'm also a Christian! I like the way that the Left Behind series showed the end, but we can only guess exactly what it will be like. I definitely believe in Revelation, but idk what it will actually be like in detail. I don't think that I'll go to heaven based on how good of a person I am, because I'm a fairly ((Not great.)) person. (I hate this word censoring thing. I DIDN'T EVEN SWEAR! XP ) I believe I'll go to heaven because Jesus saved me. I'd be fine if I didn't live to see the end, though. XD

I had a dream, that one day on the sweet hills of Georgia, everybody will be able to play the Star Wars game they've always wanted.

My only problem with that idea is that some Gods are directly conflicting in the gospel, and how the Gods sound would also make stuff directly opposing to one another. Then some just aren’t even accurate.

It all depends on how you define the word "God". As a Christian, I believe that there is only one God. The thing that sets him apart from everything else is that everything else is created by God. Angels and Demons, do seem like gods to us, but they aren't God. I see what your saying, though.

Well yes when trying to fit all religions into one giant one things are going to conflict.

Like is Rod the god of the Universe or Yahweh ( just two examples there are plenty more).

Maybe it works like Dark souls. Dark souls lore has tones of religions and Deities that just exist and aren't explained.

Yeah, there are gods (Demons), and then there is GOD, or I am (Yahweh respectively.) so yes, there are other Gods people worship or worshipped, but they definitely aren’t actual Gods, just extremely powerful beings.

(I know that things come across differently when in text, than they are usually meant to be said. If anything I say comes across as rude or sassy, that's not how I meant it XD.)

Yea there's a lot of contradicting beliefs out there. The way I see it is that there can only be one truth. I know that it just can't work to have multiple deities that are all the way. I believe in the Bible, but I can definitely respect other beliefs, as long as they don't attempt to change mine. If there is more than one way, than the entire Bible simply can't fit into that grouping, since the Bible states that it is the only way.

I understand this. I respect other beliefs as well. I believe that there is only one way to heaven, and it is through my Lord. Those that believe that the Bible is included in the all ways to heaven, do not grasp the simple verse that is placed in it. I believe that the scripture is breathed out by God, and it has gotten me through many life problems, that no psychological doctor would ever think is possible.
I think that it is true because I was change. I used to do some really, really, bad things, and he changed me. I went from being considered a monster to a "huggable teddybear". Thanks, Gen, for the chance to get to talk about this.

Glad this thread got started on, while I will try to stay low about the politics on here, I won't back down on my belief in the God the father, the son, and the holy spirt. Life used to be rough before Jesus came, people had to sacrifice many animals to live sin free, but now we have Jesus, through him we can live in eternity in heaven. Anyone who has heard about or knows about Jesus and ignores what he did for us, it is said that the land that Lucifer rules (system blurs it out so I use that) it so will be 3x worse. Jesus gave his life for all of us, taking him for granted is selfish, he died for all of us to save us. There are 5 main things that is said by many pastors and in the Bible is the road to heaven. First is to accept Jesus as your lord and savior (getting saved, as it is called), another is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, another is to be baptized by the holy spirit (baptism) and to love your neighbor as yourself. First step is to become saved as a Christian or become Jewish and believe in Jesus Christ, if you already are make sure you become baptized, love your neighbor as yourself (be a good person, love everyone even if they do bad(this is not the only requirement and cannot be accepted as the only thing needed, don't let heaven pass by you by relying solely on this)), ask Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins, and finally is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, now this part is the hardest as a weak human, we must spend time with Jesus more than just Sunday, how you do that you ask? Well studying the word of God and simply praying to Jesus and praising his name is having a relationship, how can he let you into heaven if he doesn't know who you are? Yes these tasks are not for the weak, but by doing this will help you so much in life and will lead you to forever paradise. God and Jesus are one in the same, as confusing as it is, it is, God the father, the son (Jesus), and the holy spirit. Jesus loves you know matter what you do, he gave his life for us, he will forgive you know matter what you have done, it is never too late, God gave us a free will, and we can thank him for that, the least we can do is love him and praise him back

That was really good, thanks! It may sound weird, but it constantly makes me happy to know that I can't save myself, because I was doing a fairly terrible job at that before.
I would also like to state, that though similar, the Islamic Religion and the Christian Religion are two very separate things, and true followers of both of these faiths would say the same.

Thanks for mentioning that. It makes me sad to see people say that they're basically the same.

@BeastlyCrawdad you could've just asked a mod to switch your name for you.

I had to change the email, and the ea account, so I just created a new profile. It is fine. Sad to see that you are in jail.

Nah, religion is holding the evolution of the human race back in my opinion. We need to move away from the archaic belief system, and the tribal mentality that comes with it in a lot of cases.

People starting wars, hate campaigns and genocides over the same story being told a different way. What a load of tosh!

Nah, while certain religons are dumb, some religions go very much well with the evolution of the human race. WW2 was essentially Germany trying to do a survival of the fittest. The belief system for Christianity is probably the most modern one, as the rules are universal.

Sure other religions do, but Christianity and Judaism (the only legit religions) is the way all of us humans were supposed to live, but Adam and Eve screwed that up before any of us had chance to be good, so now we all are born sinners, but through Jesus we can stop sining and do good as we were supposed. Now war is gonna happen no matter what, the Bible says so, but buy trying to save all of these lost souls we can reduce it in this world, but the Devi is always on the attack so we have to battle him the best we can.

I am Roman Catholic. Whilst I don't practice as regularly as I should, I hold my beliefs close to me. But have no issue with non-believers, other religions etc. My grandmother is a staunch Roman Catholic but my Grandad was a non-believer so it was fun growing up with them both and seeing my Grandad wind my Grandmother up. Whilst I will admit that some elements of Catholicism should be updated (no contraception seen as bad is daft these days), I still think most religions try to promote peace and love - there will always be bad elements of these groups though, much like any grouping of peoples in any form or through history. Some people will try to use it as a power trip or for their own cause and justifications. But not all of us are bad etc.

I disagree with the usual Atheist thing of 'religion causes all wars' - you couldn't be more wrong. True, wars over time have had some religious causes (thinking Catholics vs Protestants, the Crusades, etc), but most have been simply for conquering, greed or non-religious beliefs in people. Examples being, off the top of my head:

    - World War 1 - no religious causes. Causes mainly being imperialist and nationalist ambitions - Austria-Hungry wanting to essentially conquer the Balkans, Russia wanting to maintain its influence, Germany wanting to establish itself as a global empire, France wanting revenge on Germany for the Franco-Prussian war (and indeed acting out of fear of Germany), Britain wanting to maintain its status as the global power and prevent German growth. Ottoman Empire called their involvement in the war a 'jihad', but it was far from religious to them - their aim was to regain territories lost to Russia through war in the 1860s-1870s.
    - World War 2 - no religious causes - A certain German leader believed in survival of the fittest and Aryans, not based on religion (obviously he did hate Judaism and other religions, but he did not start the war for that reason, it was expanding East for lebensraum). Other nations needed to stop the tyranny that came from that.
    - Korean War - no religious causes - communism vs capitalism essentially.
    - Vietnam - no religious causes - as above
    - Iraq Wars and Afghanistan - well publicized causes for this, mainly greed, but no religious causes.

Going further back into the 1800s, you had the aforementioned Franco-Prussian War - no religious causes, more imperialism. The Crimean War and the following Russo-Turkish War - no religious causes - territorial ambitions.

Basically in a nutshell, religion does not cause all wars, but admittedly it hasn't been innocent either. I would argue major religious wars started to disappear from the mid 1700's onwards (not completely, as we still have conflicts in Africa and Asia today). Imperialism came into play by that point. That and nationalism have been the main causes.

    Hey guys,

Thank you for having this conversation in the manner you did. There was a great tone in the discussion and everyone was very respectful.

However, the Battlefront forums is not really a place for religious discussions. In the forum rules, it has a piece under 'Do's' that says:
Keep it game-related. We’re not here to debate politics or religion, so keep the conversation about our games.

I will have to close this thread as a result.
