Stormtroopers need pauldron customization

Both the Empire and the First Order.

First, they'd have to either remove the pauldrons from the Heavies and Specialists etc, or reduce them to the lowest-ranking pauldron (black for Empire, white for FO).

Then they just give us pauldrons in a setup something like this:
  • Imperial Corporal (Assault): black pauldron, Uncommon/10k -
  • FO Squad Leader (Assault): white pauldron, Uncommon/10k -
  • Imperial Sergeant (Heavy): white pauldron, Uncommon/10k -
  • FO Sergeant (Heavy): black pauldron, Uncommon/10k -
  • Imperial Sergeant (Specialist): white pauldron, Uncommon/10k -
  • FO Sergeant (Specialist): black pauldron, Uncommon/10k -
  • Imperial Sergeant (Assault): white pauldron, Rare/20k -
  • FO Sergeant (Assault): black pauldron, Rare/20k -
  • Imperial Captain (Heavy): orange pauldron, Rare/20k -
  • FO Captain (Heavy): red pauldron, Rare/20k -
  • Imperial Captain (Specialist): orange pauldron, Rare/20k -
  • FO Captain (Specialist): red pauldron, Rare/20k -
  • Imperial Captain (Assault): orange pauldron, Epic/40k -
  • FO Captain (Assault): red pauldron, Epic/40k -
  • Imperial Commander (Assault): red pauldron, Epic/40k

This would be crazy simple and easy, too. It's just a recoloring for the classes that already have pauldrons, and just a pauldron for Assault.
  • I miss my red and white pauldrons.

Stormtroopers are lame, let us customize the Clonetroopers first.
    1. Clones
    2. Empire Stormtroopers
    3. First order

I wouldn't give Assaults, heavies, or specialists anything higher then captain because commander in the case for the Empire is what the officer's rank is.

    Those aren’t pauldrons though?

From what I can speculate those have the same use as pauldrons. From what I can tell Stormtrooper commanders wear formal uniforms in places like cities

I prefer the potential clone customization too (as long as it's not just legion markings, which should be automatic by map). But that's obviously not coming until Season 3 most likely, so in the meantime they could knock out quick easy recolor like this one, and a three-tiered set of Officer uniforms for each faction...

So, there's a lot to unpack here. First of all, the Imperial Stormtrooper Commander with armor and a red pauldron is canon.

Second, the rank bars on Stormtrooper armor are seen only on Snow Trooper armor, and they are the equivalent of a pauldron on regular ST armor.

Third, the Stormtrooper Officer (black uniform, with or without black field armor) is separate and distinct from the pauldroned Stormtroopers, though there's an argument that could be made that the ST Captain and Commander are Stormtrooper Officers.

Incidentally, the grey-uniformed Imperial Officer we have in the game now is a Navy Officer, one of the higher-ranking options available. What they should do (and really should have done in the first place) is to make the base Imperial Officer an ST Officer with a black uniform, then offered skins as follows:
    • Stormtrooper Officer (Field Armor): black uniform with chest armor and a helmet, Common/5k
    • Imperial Army Officer: olive drab uniform, Uncommon/10k
    • Imperial Army Officer (Field Armor): olive drab uniform with chest armor and a helmet, Uncommon/10k
    • Imperial Navy Officer: gray uniform, Rare/20k
    • Imperial Navy Officer (Field Armor): gray uniform with chest armor and a helmet, Rare/20k
    • Imperial ISB Officer: white uniform with black trousers, Epic/40k
    • Imperial ISB Officer (Field Armor): black uniform with black trousers, chest armor and a special ISB helmet, Epic/40k
    • Imperial Junior Admiral: all-white uniform, Legendary/80k
    • Imperial Junior Admiral (Field Armor): all-white uniform with chest armor and a helmet, Legendary/80k

All recolors, except the ISB helmet (it's the one worn by Agent Kallus).

Forgot to say: I wouldn't mind the Stormtrooper Commander as a max-rank Officer skin, instead of Assault. I actually suggested that in my thread on Officer skins a while back, and in my Max-Rank skins thread a bit more recently.

They are also shown in several Canon instances wearing their uniforms on the battlefield. Endor is the most prominent example.

    Depends on the badge.

Surprised they haven't added this in yet, as it was possible in BF2015. Also would like to see gender options for Stormtroopers & Officers.

Right?? That was one of the best moments in that whole game -- not only did they FINALLY get rid of helmetless Stormtroopers, but they added in rank pauldrons for Stormtroopers. AND THEY WERE IN THE CORRECT RANK ORDER! It was amazing. So cool. =)

I honestly don't know why this game didn't just come right out of the gates with all the skins from the 2015 game, just as a starting base.

Clones could get some pauldron love, too. I mean, the big clone pauldrons should probably be just for ARC Troopers and Captains, but the small and medium ones would work.

The cynic in me tend to think that it was planned to be added in the lootboxes, as some rare, go buy more crystals, crate drop.

Possibly. I hope that doesn't mean they're not even going to bother now... this sort of thing could really inject new life into the game.

Pauldrons should go towards Officers so they can have armored customization. For the Empire and First Order, at least.

I could go with this way of doing it. That was my first idea about pauldrons anyway -- that they should indicate an Officer. Ideally this would also mean removing them from the other Stormtroopers that have them (Heavy and Specialist, and Aerial for the FO).

And I would love to see some armored Officer options, even if they required high level or were expensive. For example, Imperial Officer customization options could look like this:
    • Stormtrooper Officer (Field Armor): black uniform, free default
    • Stormtrooper Officer (Field Armor): black uniform with chest armor and a helmet, Common/5k - requires class level 5
    • Stormtrooper Corporal: Stormtrooper armor with black pauldron, Epic/40k - requires class level 10
    • Stormtrooper Sergeant: Stormtrooper armor with white pauldron, Epic/40k - requires class level 20
    • Imperial Army Officer: olive drab uniform, Uncommon/10k - requires class level 30
    • Imperial Army Officer (Field Armor): olive drab uniform with chest armor and a helmet, Uncommon/10k - requires class level 35
    • Stormtrooper Captain: Stormtrooper armor with orange pauldron, Legendary/80k - requires class level 55
    • Imperial Navy Officer: gray uniform, Rare/20k - requires class level 60
    • Imperial Navy Officer (Field Armor): gray uniform with chest armor and a helmet, Rare/20k - requires class level 65
    • Stormtrooper Commander: Stormtrooper armor with red pauldron, Legendary/80k - requires class level 70

(And of course all options that don't wear Stormtrooper armor should have male and female options, as well as various different human face/head options.)

    - - -
That said, there are several problems with giving the pauldrons to the Officers.

First, the devs seem intent on making each class visually distinct from the others, and keeping Officers in uniforms accomplishes this (though do would pauldrons, to a lesser extent, if they were removed from the other classes).

Second, even without the pauldrons, there are a lot of different customization options for the Officer class. Black, olive, and gray uniforms for the Imperials, plus field armor options for each, plus ISB and Admiral options. Black, gray, teal, and charcoal uniforms for the FO. All-tan, all-blue, and blue/tan uniforms for Rebels, plus options for helmets, hats, and hats with radios. Tan Vest, tan uniform, and brown uniform for Resistance. Etc. And that's without even going into side options like medical officers and pilots. And the Heavy and Specialist classes usually have a good number of possible skins. But Assault doesn't have many options in most cases, and it could be argued that most pauldron ranks are NCOs at best, so putting pauldrons there seems like a good fit.

Was just playing Extraction on Kessel, and picked Heavy. On the loading screen, the pauldron was orange, and I got annoyed again -- so every Imperial Heavy is a Captain? Ugh.

But then I spawned in, and the pauldron was black. Which is exactly what I was saying they should do -- bust the Imperial heavy down to the black Corporal pauldron, and bust the FO Heavy and Specialist Dien to the white Squad Leader pauldron. Is it officially changed, or just on Kessel?
