Extraction: how to not die

So I've been playing this essentially non-stop and I've found a very frustrating and common 'tactic' I've run across.
Lots of people will try to run through the same main entrance, this causes some explosive sentries and snipers to set up a shooting gallery. Yet the team will continue to try to run out that door and before long it's all stacked up and no one can get to the cart.
People need to use flanking to their advantage on Extraction, the maps are built for ambushes.

I think I also understand what makes so many people call for Officer nerfs, because the other team isnt using Shields and neither is the extraction team. What ends up happening is a bunch of officers having a shootout and no one moving.
The shield is an epic tactical tool. Not only is it great for getting around a tough corner, you can also flank some enemies who have set up a shooting spot and put the shield around them, nullifying their ability to Target your team for a period

  • Another great use of the shield. On Kessel in the halls I will sometimes out it behind us to cover the rear, this has made the difference so many times

First, you are a patient dude to play the same 2 maps over and over like that.

Second, I agree that flanks are under utilized but mostly by newbs and maybe they will figure it out eventually.

Third, I am not sold on the effectiveness of the shield. It can sometimes cause as many problems as it solves.

Fourth, any class can have a shootout in that mode. Not sure why you called out officers.

Fifth , the only thing I have run into as an issue in that mode is grenade spam.

Finally, any tactic can be countered by another tactic. I would suggest players should just adapt if they run into a barrier to objective progress.

officer shield is the only reliable way for rebels to move the cargo out the final door in Jabba Palace, since there is no way to flank opponents.

Grenade spam is well controlled with diffuser+shield. It's hilarious fun to pop a shield around an enemy who is about to throw a grenade, watch them bounce back into their faces haha.

I called out officers because they're one of the top "plz Nerf" classes I see in here, and IMO that feeling is a result of this kind of play rather than tactical play.

I wholeheartedly agree with your final point. I felt compelled to post this because so perilously few times have I seen someone effectively trying to counter a situation, just end up throwing bodies at them and getting nowhere then complaining the enemy officers had tons of kills

Indeed, I will often take the side doors, hide behind the big open door and drop one there.

The shield often servers as a great distraction too, moreso in GA. I'll set it up around an exit that no one is actually using and it will usually draw a handful of enemies in to check it out or give away their position by shooting it while I capture the objective unseen
  • Another thing that actually frustrates me is when on the extraction team and NO ONE will go get the cart except me. Everyone is afraid to die or something. I've personally inched it over the line by throwing bodies at it. Sure I died 14 times but I just earned us 5 more minutes ad and a Wookie
  • I'll

I'll do that by using specialist with a purple personal shield just to inch it over the line.

Yep, have resorted to this from time to time.

People seem to either not realize or not care that you don't have to sitting with it he whole game to win. If the other team is laying into you just get it moving. More time is always the most important part of the extraction game.
  • ok cool...
