You can do it yourself in the forum settings. I have mine set to suppress images, but keep the text.
Victory should still be enough gratification for them, though, they shouldn't have to rub it in afterwards. The one emote that's ever been worth using/seeing, is someone doing Winner in those few seconds before the even battle starts. As though they're excited that the base is getting attacked.
That signature is marvelous.

Would a lack of emotes seriously be that game-breaking for you? Would still having your emotes and just assuming everyone else can see them be that game-breaking for you? It's not a stat change, it's not a buff or a nerf. It's not a new class or the removal of one. Why are you vehemently against it?!?!
I am vehintimuley against it
It was like that but smaller and more clear.
(Like the people who want you to see them emoting, regardless... *Cough cough*)
To be clear, I'm not bothered by emotes. (Why are those emotes called 'Band' emotes, and not '***** Wailing'...?)
A volume slider for voices would be great though.
(People don't seem to appreciate playing devil's advocate.)
*EDIT* LMAO J ! Z Z is censored. And I get why. But it's literally a canon Star Wars term. It's their made up name for Jazz.
Why so much of this
I don't know. Just sounds kinda weak to me. You do realize that they would still be able to tea bag you, right? It just looks like you got taunted after defeat too many times and now you want to get rid of the feature. Part of the fun of playing with others is communication. How can I have fun playing with YOU, if I don't even know if you can see my emotes? At this point, you might as well play with the AI, because it sounds to me like you want to play with drones.
Either deal with it or go back to single player.
Indeed.
Or maybe I would rather play with good sports who don't get their thrill from rubbing their victory in the others' face. A sore winner is even worse that a sore looser. If this were implemented, YOU WOULD NEVER EVEN KNOW. But since the minute possibility that some random victim didn't see your emote is that game-breaking for you, maybe you're the one who's weak.
There's no challenge against AI. There's no human intuition, there's no being clever or deceitful, there's no adapting strategies. It's not a victory, at that point. I'm sorry you can't seem to wrap your head around any of this. You probably don't even know what defeat feels like, you probably win even when you try to lose. I'm sorry you're not open-minded enough to see things from another's point of view.
Sorry. No can do. I've seen the logic that was presented by those who oppose.
A compromise is all I can stand on in this thread; adding a voice slider would mean the option to turn down specifically the vocal expressions client-side, and it'd keep the physical movements synced in game.
You know, taking away a person's ability to communicate won't change what kind of person they are. It won't make them a good sport. You're literally asking for a safe space feature. And you're not the first person to tell me I'm not open-minded. I get the impression that if you were better at the game, you would be the one flashing emotes at people. Now, I'm not one of this "get gud" people, so I'm not going to tell you to do that. Instead, I'm going to hope that the devs improve matchmaking. That way, you can get off my team so we don't get steamrolled.
And then what happens when you get bagged? Are you going to ask for client side crouch suppression? Your problem doesnt seem to be with the emotes themselves but with people rubbing it in after killing you. I can promise you these players have six ways from Sunday to make you upset with obnoxious looking taunts that aren’t emotes.
you mean like the end of this video? lol.
And as others have pointed out, players are going to find ways to troll. I'm kind of with you in the sense that I wish games wouldn't promote gamesmanship, but part of competitive play is not just physical skill, but mental fortitude- in other words, not letting trollish behavior get in your head and affect your resolve.
As I see it, getting emoted gives me some challenges- I can either make it a point to get repeated revenge on the emoter, making them constantly watch their back, I can similarly turn our rivalry into an emote-off, where we troll each other back and forth in an "it's all in good fun" way, or I stay resolute, let the emoting roll off my back and focus on winning.
And note that when I say trollish behavior, I don't mean to imply that these players are all bullies. I got teabagged in Ewok Hunt by a Stormtrooper once. I later found the guy had uploaded the match to YouTube. I told him who I was and that he teabagged me. We had a laugh about it and that was it.
If you want challenge against real human players- part of the challenge is your mental game.

Yea, I dismantled that response. Not like anyone cares, you're all too close-minded to consider features that affect you in no way whatsoever.
You know, you could have a discussion without the attacks.
+1 cuz Spider-Man.

I'd like to think so, but whether ingame or in the forums, everything I try is a one-sided slaughter against me. I guess I can get kinda vicious with my words. Instead of focusing on having an actual discussion on the matter, I mostly just get taunts and jeering, so I'm surprised that you people get surprised when I actually return fire.
It's not our job to be concerned about if it's hard on the devs or not. (Besides, how hard can a clientside trigger be?) Let's imagine that the dev sits in a room all day, with little to do, and there's a huge wall of labeled switches. These switches instantly -and without bugs- turn on and off ingame features. Now, if there was a Clientside Emote Suppression Option switch, and all I was doing was opting for that switch to be turned on, what would your reasons be for not switching that switch?
Unlike switching off the Wookiee Warrior Can Roll During Overload switch, this doesn't change gameplay. Doesn't nerf/buff add/remove anything, as far as the casual or devoted player can tell. Other than dev effort (which doesn't count, for the sake of this metaphor), the most-utilized counter argument is along the lines of "But I need to know you can see me flipping you off!" Which is even more petty than my reasoning in the first place.
While the moderator was the only one who offered a point worth considering, I will bet that absolutely no one has had an emote save their life. This game is too fast paced, and a mismatching hitbox doesn't care about high-impact abilities, or rapid-fire weapons. The player already volunteered to be useless for two seconds, the odds a sniper was dead ahead and aiming at your head for a few seconds longer than any skilled sniper should have been aiming anyways; you're better off jamming your hand in a haystack, and ***** your finger on the needle.
Riddling the body full of holes, slashing around on it's location, jumping on the opponent's dead body, yea yea. My personal favorite is putting the lightsaber away after scoring the kill.
Anything but spamming "COWARDS!" the entire session, I'd rather not see emotes in this game ever again. And if this were implemented, it wouldn't affect you in any way whatsoever.
Then sit around on the spawn screen when I have no intention of switching heroes or even their starcard setup? That makes it feel even longer.
You guys really don't have any argument against this, and you don't even attempt to respond to the points I state, even further enhancing my case.
I've gotten taunted at, gotten slightly annoyed, but kept playing because it's simply an immature behavior, but doesn't in any way break the game. If anything, it motivates me to git gud so they can't taunt me at all since they'll be dead and I won't be. You know... just like EVERY SINGLE ONLINE MULTIPLAYER GAME SINCE FOREVER.
I. Beg. To. Differ.
This is a WAR game, on a galactic scale no less. Have you not heard the hideous scream of a trooper when getting one shot slain point blank from the vanguard? Where’s the outrage? Family friendly? What about the scream of the female resistance specialist, who’s fighting for freedom, when she’s getting burned to death by the FO flame trooper? Oh that’s ok, but if the flame trooper does a jig with some mildly mocking words... THAT’S the offense? Oh yeah, the demonic looking Darth Maul sweeps into a room eviscerating CLONED troopers, who’s very existence is forced soldering with no freedom to choose a life of there own... no problem. But some sensibilities are offended if afterward, the demon, raises his lightsaber and speaks a few words about the power of the Sith? And if said demon is being played by a youth we are concerned that some emote might unduly affect them?
With as much respect as possible, this whole concept is void. Galactic enslavement, genocide, death, war... EMOTES are that which is the issue? ?? ??????
Much ado about nothing, this is. I wish they’d create a “Much ado about nothing.” emote in honor of this entire waste of time.
You're the most undiscerning human being on earth.
Maybe you also want an option not to get killed? So those mean Wookie warriors can't hurt you anymore?
Emotes are a fun way of communicating, the majority loves them and won't agree with your... arguements.
You do somewhat remind me of a certain South Park episode.
"Yeah, ok, Jeff. But Lady Gaga also said: 'I think that men and women deserve to love each other equally'...
...So please, Jeff, if you going to live your life according to Gaga quotes, accept the entire canon." - John Oliver.
So none of those other things would bother you? You said you hate it when a player is a bad sport after killing you. It's all the same, it's all rubbing it in, you really only get angry when it's the emotes?

It was past the day it opened
So, you don't agree with it, but you haven't lifted a finger to explain why it's a bad idea. The only thing you people ever conjure were personal insults.
If it were implemented, it wouldn't even affect you. It's like chopping down a tree on the other side of the planet. If you were never told, you'd never know. And still, why should you care? This feature will hurt absolutely no one, unless you guys are also offended by client-side controller configuration, volume sliders, language preferences, and colorblind options.
