Anyone else think specialist with 150 health, infiltration and a280cfe is a little too good? (IMO)
First off I never thought the specialist was weak.
I honestly think specialist is too good right now. The specialist is a sniper class and yet the a280cfe (with burst mode of course) is very good at close and medium range and not at all terrible at long range. Then comes the infiltration which grants you extra movement speed and is basically a shotgun. You can one-burst people at close range.
Then the nasty cheese combo: Infiltration and personal-shield combined with starcards that give you extra melee damage and you can easily kill a blaster hero at full health. All this and still 150 health? seriously?
Thoughts?

What I am trying to say is that the Specialist isn't op, as some people suppose. It is fine.

Even so, with 150 HP it's basically an assault with a worse version of Vanguard (infiltration), a useless grenade and a bubble shield instead of instant health regen.
Oh and the trollish melee boost, but only noobs with horrible aim can't kill a melee bubble girl so no need to adjust that.
Vanguard may beat Infiltration 90% of the time unless you have the range in your favor. but the Burst fire A280 punches more then the Assaults version.
Its not that I don't know how to kill them. But seeing a sniperclass which are not meant to be running around on the field like assault and heavy do better than assault IMO thats pretty dumb
Then why does it have a melee boost, a wallhack/infiltration ability that only works in close range, and a bubble shield for taking objectives?
It's almost like there's more than one way to play each class (and good thing here, because sniping is boring).
Another thing wrong with the game

What? You don't like the zappy grenade and the repulser "cannon"?
He also needs buffs for some of his other guns.
Take a look at some of the stun threads for other examples. Annoying? Yes. Overpowered? No.

Yea, i just love sniping with the ee-4 and ca-87.
Why would a ”sniperclass” have a class specific card that grants a bonus to melee damage? It’s because the Specialist is not a sniper class, it’s a scout class. And a scout class needs to be able to move up front, why we have the A280-CFE and 150hp.
You know its actually called "Specialist" and not "Sniper Class"?
Also, the specialist is just fine. After all, it'd nominate the specialist to be the most balanced thing in the game right now. Except for a lot of useless star cards, his abilitites and weapons overall are just fine and he can perform just fine.
"Yeah, ok, Jeff. But Lady Gaga also said: 'I think that men and women deserve to love each other equally'...
...So please, Jeff, if you going to live your life according to Gaga quotes, accept the entire canon." - John Oliver.
I mean, you're still stuck with a garbage grenade, a worthless default gun, a trash repulsor toy, etc... I mean, they took the easy way out that time.
As much as the class was supposedly considered ''vulnerable in close quarters'' by the game, that logic was thrown out the window when the buff happened.
So you're telling me the class with three snipers is not a sniper class? Ok then.
The A280-CFE is not a sniper rifle, its terrible on long distances and easily outperformed by the S-5 and the EL-16HFE.

It's not just a sniper. It has multiple roles aside from snipe.
or another reason may be that, when they made the specialist it only had 100 HP and giving it extra melee damage for close quarters would make up for the mostly long range weapons?
You're telling me a class with 3 snipers is not a sniper class?
I wasn't talking about the a280 right there
I can agree on that. But people claiming specialist is not a sniper class even though it has 3 snipers is rubbish
Its not just a sniper class.
Yeah I just agreed on that if you read the comment i responded to
Not if it's Hardened Infiltration. It will allow you to survive a single shot of Vanguard 90% of the time at close range and defeat the Assault user.
Not only that, Infiltration offers more room for error (higher rate of fire), spots enemies on minimap, and two-shots whenever you can land the hits.
Which is convenient, because I can do the job of a Specialist, with an Assault trooper. You can use a trooper however you want, it all depends on how effective you are with that trooper. By the argument that they are only meant to be snipers, Specialists would be useless on several maps, like Jabba's Palace. If people want to be versatile, then let them.

I usually have Stealth, Resourceful and Trip Mine.
Trip Mine I usually use not very often, unless players on the other team have been jerks. In which case, in the next game, Ill trip mine everything :P
The default rifle isn't a sniper either. It's just a really spammy semiauto that's really only viable out to mid range.
Officer'*****5 and Assaults EL-16HFE are way better at long range than literally half of the specialist's guns, but no one's crying about those "close range" classes being able to snipe people.

And lol at “sniper class.” His “signature” ability is specific to CQC.
It’s almost indisputable that the A280CFE and NT-242 are better than the other 2 snipers so the weapons could be the next target spot for balance changes.
So because its semi-auto its not a sniper? the NT-242 is technically semi auto as well
Let's not forget the projectiles fired from Specialists travel much faster and have no damage drop off (except, A280 rifle). They're more effective at the longest range than the two weapons you mention, even with or without mods. It's just the skill gap profile...
This, plus shock grenade and repulsor cannon are in need of buffs as well.
It's less of sniper than those Officer and Assault weapons are (A280c with dual zoom and extended range mod is also better), at least as far as actually being effective for downing targets at long range is concerned.
Mind you, I don't think it's bad thing that classes have overlap and can be played more than one "approved" way.
NT and IQA are snipers, but the other two Specialist rifles really aren't, at least from shooter design perspective. 280CFE is assault rifle and default gun is like the semiauto battle rifle (think like Medic class rifles in Battlefield 1, or Battle Rifle/DMR in Halo) more for medium range than sniping.
I’m currently loving trip mines on Mos Eisley map.
Add me (xbox Oregon server) if you like
Which is a shame, because I really, really loved Battlefield One's themes and the historical context, but I cannot stand dealing with snipers. It's just not fun to be picked off before you can even do anything after spawning in.
So, anything that keeps snipers close-range, where I can easily handle them, I'll take.
It is a scout class.

It makes sense in real life but in games it seems stupid that the fastest potential TTK is at infinite range.
I agree. I’ve started playing this class because of the health adjustment. As you’ve stated, can someone tell me if Killstreak Infiltration works at all. And also, I really want the Repulse Rifle to be any kind of effective. If someone has suggestions I’d love to hear them.
Yes. I like to think of it as a hybrid special forces class. Hence the word special in specialist. Advanced hand to hand combat, sniper rifles but also effective in CqC. Radar infiltration. Scout + sniper + advanced hand to hand. Special forces. Specialist.
Leave the specialist class alone.
But other than that, very good & fun class to play.
