Bad teams

Since this new update, I just get placed in teams with such bad players... all the time.

  • This will save you time:

Join a game. Immediately pull up the score screen. If it is one sided and your on the losing team, just leave.(if theres people with like 50 kills and your highest team player has like 8)

You wont be frustrated nor wasting time.

If you join a fresh lobby. You just have to play it out a little bit. At the end, determine if it's pretty balanced and worth staying

lol i use the same method in HvV always check the score from previous match when it shows then either stay or exit.
  • Just look from a distance and see how your team performs. If things like your target trying to 1v4 the enemy happens, I’d just leave. I won’t be wasting my effort on these common unbalanced matches.

  • I dunno what they broke but i feel same way. 100% one side matches all the time.

Well your actions are part of the problem... then the match is never going to be even if all the decent players leave.

I don’t mind playing on the losing team.... I usually end up being the top player on my team or even in the whole match if you’re effective enough with objectives. It can be frustrating at times, but you get rewarded by getting first dibs on any hero you want. Lol

  • DICE needs to look up “balance” in the dictionary.

  • Same thing here, server keeps putting me among really bad players againt 4-6 excellent players and got steamroll, I can handle 3 skilful players on the opposite team, 4,5,6 players when you are the only good one on your team, too much to ask to anyone.
  • DICE needs to look up “balance” in the dictionary.

Yes they do, the fact matches start 8 vs 18 and there is no auto balance or even a way to switch teams is beyond me.

All of the players here saying they leave when on a losing team... well again cowards and creating the problem. I would switch to the losing team if I could, especially the team getting dominated to the point they are constantly down several people.
  • I usually give it a chance and see if I can make a difference within a few games. If you're getting steamrolled, the games finish quickly anyway.
  • Can't speak for HvV because I don't play it
But in GA, I normally at least stay for the whole game if I join a lobby where one team is obviously better than the other. I find it's quite fun to go on sometimes suicidal objective plays - for example, my team didn't seem to be able to push on to the Walker Bay objective (had been half completed then overrun again, and it was our last objective). I switched to Specialist, activated Infiltration and Personal Shield, then ran in, punched one guy out and started activating it. Obviously I died, but I did this a total of three times and managed to single-handedly save the game at least for a while. Similarly on maps like Takodana as the First Order, sometimes I'll go in with Vanguard or the Infil/PS combo, flank and start contesting - it seems to me that quite a lot of players are unwilling to walk into a guarded objective and make that initial push, but if someone else makes that push for them by running in and contesting then they'll follow quite happily, and I've been using that to my advantage. Sure, I might end up passing up a couple of kill in the short term, but I get some objective score and more than make up those lost kills if the game continues longer than it would have without my intervention.
If even with my efforts we still get steamrolled, I'll stay in the lobby at least until the end of the game, just try and get as many kills as possible and use the opportunity to get my pick of reinforcements or heroes, like someone else mentioned. Sure, I'll leave once I get my credits after the match, but I the only time I leave a match in progress is if someone I want to play with comes online and the match is only half done or earlier.

I have had some moments like that too and those can be the most memorable. I always think of Captain Speirs from Band of Brothers. If anyone has ever seen that show it is brilliant, but there is a moment where Speirs, a US soldier, runs through the German force to relay a message, and then to everyone’s continued disbelief, he runs back. All the Germans are kind of in awe that he is just running through them and don’t shoot. I feel that has happened to me multiple times in this game where my team is scared or not able to get through, but I just run in and people are staring at me like who is this guy as I use Specialist shield and cap the point by myself.

I remember one match on Strike. We were getting dominated but somehow I managed to run back and forth between the Tie Fighters in Starkiller base planting the bomb. That was certainly a Speirs moment.

Exactly this. The people who are saying they leave and find another match our quite honestly cowards. Kylo would be ashamed of them. Can’t believe people recommend leaving to rejoin a winning team so they can create further imbalance.

How about trying this instead? Help the team that is losing. If they are “bad” players then they may just be new and constantly getting abandoned by all the so called “pro” players. If your getting owned by AT-ST’s then call out for heavies to get ion torpedo. I also usually type out the best objectives to attack or defend. If I can get a couple more teammates with me then we have a much better chance.

Yes, some cowards and crybabies that can't lose, detected. It's really low to leave and rejoin just to be on the winning team. This means you are not that good and that it's just somebody else carrying you.
  • Playing solo is a headache most of the time, you can't get on the mic and tell your team what to do. There should be proximity chat at the least.

    Here’s what there should be.
Squads should be player created, either open or group only. The squad creator should be labeled squad leader and have access to in game commands that graphically appear on the squad members HUD. It has been this way in previous DICE games. While this new squad system will be an improvement, it will fall short of this. Some people simply will not communicate with strangers and this functionality would bridge that gap.

Yesterday and perhaps inspired by this thread, I left to rejoin the losing team. We still lost but at least the team didn’t get fully dominated.
  • I feel like players got easier. Yes, they also have purple cards and all attchement blasters. Dunno if good players quited or something.
  • I only leave if the match is a steamroll whether it’s our team winning or the other team winning. I only stay in matches if they feel competitive or somewhat balanced because I personally only find those types of matches fun.

    thats a nice idea
but so few players on still playing on pc
it's usually either one full server of roll,
or an empty server with just you

now if ea would actually remove this server nonsense and set it up like a decent game, we'd not have as much of a problem finding a game that wasn't *****.

it's easier to roll now with heroes being so cheap, and still way too tough to kill.

There is a VERY STRANGE THING with all this cases you are posting here.

    And It is as following:

You all say that you always end in a team which is always on the noob side of the force, losing match after match.

    All of you.

So... who are the ones that always end in the team which is always winning match after match and wrecking your as*es ? Where are they?

And if there are teams that steamroll all of you, then matchmaking is working fine FOR THEM, isnt it?

    C ya...

Well, if I'm understanding this right, no for the most part because it isn't balanced.

  • I only play alone and I've had my fair share of being placed into 'hopeless' teams.

But you can still make the best out of it by setting small objectives for yourself. Like getting one or more kills on the enemy team's top scorer. Suicide detonate-charging a known gathering point. Or delaying an objective capture for an extra 1-2 minutes. Or trolling with trip mines. Sometimes you may just end up turning things around. And you'll learn alot in the process.

I’m still getting very competitive matches. Some are steamrolls, both ways, but most are not. Xbox, Virginia server.
  • Whatz all this???
If the teams are properly balance you will see the best every player has to offer. If not, then I usually have to change up my style-of-play to accommodate a freakin' steamroll. (end of transmission)

Respect. I feel the same tbh. However because of my limited playtime i generally join and stay nomatter what happens. Sometimes my team steamrolls, sometimes we get steamrolled and sometimes its pretty even steven. Its generally not really a big deal to me. The latter is clearly the most fun times though.
  • My most satisfying game was when we got steamroller first and second round, last round two of the three objectives were lost and we were fighting for the last objective, I got to play Ray, (our best player was probably out of BP), by now our team was playing as a team gaining confidance, I played conservative revealing enimies and confusing the other teams heroes.
I suppose they were cocky and only going for pb, we won!
Staying in a losing team, just enjoying the game can be very fulfilling.
  • I hate to admit it but I might be one of these ‘bad’ players...

No shame in admitting your limits. Not all can be super players. When you think about it, good players wouldnt exist if there were no bad players. And you can have a winning team without a loosing one ;)

yes I agree the main problem is the balancing of players, a player who is good can beat a player with purple cards, and this is especially true between the difference in power between weapons. a good player will kill a dozen players or more before dying, collect more points and buy special units / Hero where his opponent will have even more trouble killing him. Grouping more good players together with an Elo system would be a good idea

True. Some kind of top player redistribution system between rounds would be appreciated for sure. And i have never been a fan of giving the best players even more advantages by being first to a hero, and thereby making them even stronger. Somehow thats not really fair play imo. How to solve it, while still encourage players to go for top points, im not sure.
  • You always can tell if your team sucks

    1:to many snipers
    2: don`t play the objective
3 objectives are taken in 1 min
4: Team outmatched because somehow the enemy team has all the best players and your team not.

Why stay in a steam roll. I'll finish the match, but based off experience with this game, it is never going to even out. It is just steam roll after steam roll.

I've never lost more than about 4 or 5 in a row*. This isn't because I'm great at the game or anything. I just notice that the steamrolls never last more than about 2-3 matches in a row*. I saw someone post somewhere that they lost 12 in a row. That's insane! I'd almost chalk that up to bad luck.

*that I notice. I generally find something worthwhile to do even in steamrolls one way or another, even if it's watching the space battle outside DS2 or trying a more circuitous route to an objective (or testing out new loadouts).

Honestly it annoys me so much on capture objectives when you're sprinting towards the objective, watching the respawn counter tick down from 5, but no-one is attempting to contest the point. Obviously if there was game chat/text chat on console people could organise pushes, but without that people seem incapable of playing an objective in a lot of cases. I think it's the mentality of 'first on the objective is going to be mown down', which is why if we're dropping and can't get on an objective, I'll equip Specialist with Shield and flank onto the objective, keep down, my be punch some people until my team follows me onto the objective.
And yeah, an abundance of snipers tends to mean a bad team. I have had one experience where I actually had a good game with my team being mostly snipers - I think it was probably at least 8 or so players in voice chat, all running around quick scoping with the NT. Pretty fun, we did actually have a few good, mostly balanced games, and these guys weren't the bottom players - there were clumps of snipers throughout the scoreboard. But normally it's a bad sign.

Hopefully the matchmaking and balancing updates coming soon will improve the situation on 4.

  • I wish the teams were more balanced. I ended up in a team that was steamrolling the other team in GA, and I quit after the second round. It's not fun, and for a mid- to low-tier player, the game goes so quickly you barely get to do anything.

Last night I ended up on an Extraction team that kept getting steamrolled. I accepted the challenge and stuck around for a while, but when we were Rebels on Kessel for the second time, our team was down to three players (including me) and the other team (with a full eight players) aggressively spawn camped us, even jumping up and coming into the spawn area. I quit after that, because it's just not fun, and on a PS4 there's no easy way to coordinate with a team. That was the end of me being able to play Extraction, because that was the only lobby on my server last night, and no one joined when the game would put me in a new lobby.

These servers are poorly done. There apparently aren't enough people playing the game to support the system they've set up. Maybe matchmaking would be better if there were more players, but if you only have one lobby with a team of randoms vs a team with a group of friends, then there's not much that can be done.

In short, please DICE/EA, fix the servers issue.

I do the exact opposite of this... I stay and within a game or 2, my team is the one stomping... I continue this until I get tired of all the winning.

I did like you at the beginning but, despite your good level, the gap between the 2 team and so important that you feel like 7vs 20. So now I do not try to carry my team at arm's length when I know it's lost in advance
  • I feel you. Joining a starfighter assault game, getting 10,000 more points than anyone else, and still losing because of bad teammates? Frustratingr4lmngz1vfum.jpeg
  • I wish the teams where evenly matched will make it more fun.
  • I make bad teams good. Good teams great. And great teams unstoppable. I was not aware there was a matchmaking problem in Galactic Assault. :p
  • There are a lot of new players. I'm seeing a lot of low level players in GA and Extraction, and in HvV I see heroes with 2 star cards, typically at level 1 or 2.

Ps4 will probably get a lot of new players as it's on sale this weekend for $9.99.
