Tired of heroes dominating games? Stinger Pistol.

Prev13
It's not a complete solution, but it is a solution. The Stinger Pistol hits heroes much harder than it does troopers, and it continues doing damage after it hits. Purple it up and it does even more.

If there were 2 or 3 players in every game who grabbed a Specialist with a Purple Stinger every time a hero caused trouble, it would make a big difference for everyone.

EA isn't going to stop catering to heroes, isn't going to take the heroes down a notch -- so we'll have to do it ourselves.

Rally around the humble Stinger, soldiers! Down with the demigods who think these games belong to them!

  • Works very effectively, yes. Vader coming towards you? Whip it out, tag him with as many shots as possible, and you should do at least a little bit of permanent damage to him. If you see a hero on the radar and there's a few allies between you and the hero, hang back a bit - wait until the hero starts hitting your teammates (ok this strategy involves using your team as bait bit it's satisfying), then start hitting them as many times as you can. You might die, depending on how close they are to you and how much damage they've already taken, but if you hit them enough times you'll most likely end up killing or at least getting the assist on them. Plus if you tag someone with it you can see them through walls for up to 10 seconds (depending on what level you've got it upgrade to).

Yeah, nothing more satisfying than popping your shield as you approach an enemy hero from behind and start punching them down, especially blaster heroes. I've found that the best target is a bad Bossk - the ones who just stand trying to snipe into an area without placing mines, moving around, and generally checking their surroundings. Often they're dead before they even realise they've been hit.
And hitting that headshot with the NT on a sniping Leia on Crait is also great. Most of them are pretty good at strafing a lot when they can be shot at to make it much harder to hit them, but there are some who will just stand in the mine ha far thinking they're out of reach, u til you hit three conscutive headshots and kill them in a matter of a couple of seconds.

  • Yeah, I do this.
Always equip the stinger pistol if I play GA.
It's also fun to use the Repulsor Cannon - knock them over and then melee them to death (With the stealth card increase melee damage - managed this a few times!)
  • I started using the stinger pistol the past few days and I've killed about 10 heroes so far and a few dozen troopers with it. It's also very good at getting both heroes and troopers to back off the objective you are trying to take/defend and if you can keep them from healing, others around you will have an easier time killing them and you'll rack up eliminations. Quite fun actually.
  • I’ve been leveling up my Specialist daily the past week and I just upgraded the card for the first time last night. I’ll equip it when I log in tonight

  • It has happened to me a lot when playing as a hero in GA. Especially with Palpatine cause he triggers the players the most.

I LOLd when you hunted him down and added a few more hits while he was hiding and chilling out. This might be sole goal tonight if I play, just walking around hero hunting

It is fun, and if you have more members, especially with the squad system, and with a coordinated team, they will be losing health lol.

I love how the Assault facepalmed, but realized I killed Vader.

I definitely find it's best to keep a distance and pelt the heroes with it while they're engaging others.

And well done mentioning the tag, I can't believe I forgot to!

My pal is a better specialist player than I am. Our initial idea is I bring my heavy with his stinger equipped specialist and we take these guys down a notch. Lol.
Thats a great combo. Get the Heavy stocked up on survivability-enhancers, have him get the hero's attention... meanwhile the Specialist is in the other direction Stinging away. Ideally with Stealth so the hero can't see where it's coming from. Rinse, repeat as needed.
  • Haven't really tried the stinger pistol. I'll give it a go. I don't use specialist much on GA, but the next time I get killed by a hero, I'll respawn as specialist with the stinger. Any specific loadouts recommended?
  • Hush, you! Don't advertise the Stinger and get it nerfed again. :scream:

Bubble for right card. Nothing else is really good vs heroes

Stealth for sneaky and because if you get the drop, you can win a fistfight with most blaster heroes (or even bad sabers)

Thanks dude. I tried the repulsor cannon when I was still leveling up the specialist. It's fun, but wish it did damage. I think most people probably don't even know what hit them since its not used much. B)

It best to just run your own Hero to counter A good enemy player, they'll quickly catch on to this strategy. Theres better starboards to run.

  • I remember last time I played it was after I got the last kills with the final specialist weapon, and the challenge was "play as officer for 5 minutes" so I went to galactic assault (it was Kashyyk battle droids) and since I didn't have to focus on a specific weapon, I changed to whatever was available (well stockpiling for a hero, preferably Boba, but entering the MTT whenever possible), well I had enough points for The Emperor and everyone was gunning for me when I spawned in, I got a few kills, turned to retreat toward the MTT, and I died a few minutes after spawning.

Fast forward to the last phase I had enough points for the Enforcer, and I went after some heroes... That didn't turn out well, but later I spawned in as an Aerial and hit one of them (well maybe a different hero) with my rocket, and I think I finished them with the lasers [one of them was already low on health, also I go about thinking that I have a better chance against heroes using the Enforcer, but both my kills {non consecutive, the first one happened long ago} were with an Aerial... Insert "ironic..." quote here). Also I spawned in as an ATT twice during phase 3.

Sorry if my story was too off-topic.

It's not what they advertise...on xbox 1. more points if you run & gun objectives as a specialist ...i.e. NT w/ion. They [dev] want players to use the periphery tools then make them worthy. I'm 1800 hrs in, lvl 70 no quips, no tears. Truth seeker....

Hey good post man. With the upcoming squad spawn, I foresee new threads popping up about coordinated antihero squad builds. This is only the beginning.

    Mmmmm. Now that sounds tasty

  • It is really good against heros, it's the fact that it slow drips their health and they cant heal. Yeah if there are 2 or 3 stinger pistol users it would make a huge difference but you cant expect that in random lobbies youd have to team up with a few friends with mics
  • I'm just picturing in a couple of weeks' time there being people who'll get into a game, four of them, then just go round specifically hunting heroes. Maybe the lower price isn't such a bad thing? More to kill haha
Also, just FYI - if you use the NT with Disruptor, you can damage heroes through/around blocks. I'm not sure if they can deflect it, but even if they can just aim at the ground right below their feet and shoot, you'll deal a nice 67 damage to them. It might not sound like much, but that's 258 damage in the four (I think) shots you get with it, or quite often they'll retreat (with their block down) so you can hit them with your stinger a few times. Not the most useful strategy as it does mean you're less effective just running around against infantry, but if you're going specifically for a hero who keeps blocking then it's perfectly valid.
Also, does anyone know if deflected stinger shots deal the DoT? I'm guessing not.

  • The Stinger has been a consistent part of my Specialist loadout for nigh on half a year now.

I loooove watching people running around like chickens with their heads cut off, trying to “get out” of the nonexistent acid cloud.

Plus, melting Heroes/Villains is always fun. Go ahead, Palpy, and waste that Chain Lightning heal.

The most satisfying is punching down a lightsaber wielder from full or close to full health. In general they have higher health, but also they have a lightsaber which can cut you down in two swings. It's funny to keep running around them, punching them and rolling away.

  • From someone who normally dominates with heroes, this works so well. If im not mistaken, stinger pistol shots cant be blocked. And on heroes with no kill card it wrecks their health. Dont die to it that often but it effectively changes my playstyle for a few minutes.
  • It is really good against heros, it's the fact that it slow drips their health and they cant heal.
Yup. And has been noted, it tags them, and I'm pretty sure it can't be blocked.

That's why I posted this thread, and the same topic in another thread months ago, etc. The more people who know about this and have it on their mind, the more Specialists we'll have spawning in with Stingers and we can rid the game of some of these entitled heroes that are everywhere.

Thanks! That'd be great. If we can start seeing that sort of thing regularly, I might start playing GA more often than once every couple of weeks. Rally on, Stingers!

  • I have GOT to try out this technique later....those Heros have to be swept away!!
  • Glad more people are learning about this. It really wrecks heroes that constantly hide to regen and its so satisfying since they get marked and you can witness them go down.
  • And the stinger pistol allows you to see stung enemies through walls for the duration of the sting effect
  • I'd like to add it's not worth it against Palps or Chewie. I think stinger is poorly adverted/misleading. Dev should put some umph into it ya know...

Ive taken Palps down multiple times with this. Just gotta time it right when he finishes an attack run. Chewie Id imagine would be far easier since he cant jump high.

Nah Chewie is a huge target and even tho he has up to 800 health his regen is nowhere near Palpatine’s. Stingers eat him alive
  • As an experienced hero player, I can say for a fact that the Bee Hive gun one of the most annoying things heroes can go against & causes me a great deal of stress :rage:

Thankfully I've learned to remedy this by just sticking to heroes that are actually good in GA like Finn, Yoda, and Iden.

So your stinger pistols will ultimately stop nothing, and I rest peacefully knowing that the strongest heroes will always prevail at the opposite end of a pea shooter barrel.

  • To be honest, the Stinger is good for certain heroes like Palpatine and the like, but against heroes like Yoda and Bossk, it does almost nothing. Chances are it’ll be those two heroes causing you the most grief, not Palpatine, Vader or Chewie. I’d comfortably say it’s those two characters that are the best heroes in GA right now.

Don’t get me wrong, Palpatine is still good, but with successive nerfs and his latest fixes along with his inability to lock lightning at close range makes him a liability on most maps now. Bossk is the ultimate Dark Side objective player, and Yoda is the ultimate defensive counter.
