This. Love the clone wars maps in GA but I despise them in HvV especially Kashyyyk and Kamino.
Also I would shoot the ATTEs but didn't receive any playing the objective points, so I had no idea if I was doing damage or just cannon fodder.
Somehow I got to play as Obi but got melted by a couple of heavies, and grevious in a tight trench. Oh well.
Visually stunning too, really enjoyed it otherwise.
I don't get much time to play games. Long hours at work.
However, overall this game is massively different from Day 1. I am impressed.
Genosis/Obi Wan/Grievous are fantastic additions to the game. Grievous is probably one of the most fun characters to use on the entire game.
Genosis:
Pros:
- Looks stunning.
- AT-TEs are fun to use. They can get stuck and they seem a bit weak in terms of health (playing last night) but the way they are dropped and the way they fire are excellent.
- I probably won't use the speeders much, although the STAP could be fun to get used to. STAP looks cool and players seem to be able to cause a fair amount of damage with them.
- The game mode, when people play the objectives, is fun.
- Attention to detail is fantastic throughout.
- I love the absolute chaos that seems to break out.
- Seeing Obi Wan and Grievous fight it out close by is great.
Cons:
- Droids need more to pilot and more variation.
- I thought personally that the droids felt a bit weak.
- Phase 1 is over too quickly.
- Would be great to have more troopers/players on a map this size.
- Spiderdroids and Droidekas please.
- Despite earning the points I NEVER seem to be able to choose a hero/villain.
Some people are moaning and bringing up the old BF games. I used to play those, and this game is FAR superior. I think a lot of it is just nostalgia kicking in.
SNES/N64 games used to cost £50-60 and you would not get an update to bugs/new features etc.
Enjoy what the team are doing and enjoy the game. It has come a LONG way.
First impression - it reminded me very much of the Raider Camp on BF1, with its crevices and canyons. No bad thing, I liked that map.
1st Game consisted of spawning as a Seperatist and watch everyone run to the terminal & AT-TE. They then proceeded to shoot the AT-TE. Does it even damage it when it is parked?
Lots of shooting, then game over before the AT-TE even started moving.
2nd and 3rd games, spawned as Republic. managed to get to terminal and hold it long enough to start AT-TE.
How do you then get in it? Didn't seem very obvious, so I run a little ahead of it clearing a path. So I thought.
I turned around to find the Droids had spawned in behind the tank and proceeded to shoot and destroy it before it got around the first corner.
All my games so far have ended very quickly, with the Seperatists winning.
So I have no idea what phase I actually made it to. If these were typical games I can't see it being very easy for Republic to make any progress.
Bear in mind both these games were at around 10.00pm UK time so assume the update to AT-TE strength had been put in . i think having some health indicator on to tanks would be useful.
So yeah, it looks quite nice but i'd like to be in a longer game.
The other updates, I think Obi Wans face looks a bit weird on the selction screen. Maybe its cos i'm not rocking 4k HDR only having a normal XB1, but his looks a bit overly fake, probably worse than Leias. Oh and his abilities are a bit hit & miss when they fire.
The new Gievous skin on the other hand is fantastic,
1) Phase 3 seems to require clones get in ATTEs fast and push as they take damage almost immediately on getting dropped off.
2) Too many people just focused on killing loses the match.
3) A very different feel. This should be a good change up versus other maps.
4) I didn't notice heroes too much. I was either in an AT-TE or a heavy firing at an AT-TE. It was all about heavies, vehicles, and specialists.
5) I am really use to using shield instead of ion turret. Lost so many fights when I should have rolled instead I tried to pop a nonexistant shield.
6) First phase is very fun.
If you weren't receiving any score it is because the shield wasn't down so you couldn't damage it.
You need to use the ion shot ability (right one). It is counterintuitive because you need to be in close range (if not you'll just waste your shot) and use the Siege Mode ability first (middle one). At least the icon for the ion shot objective is the same as the ability (probably to help people know what they have to do).
Superior visually, yes. Overall gameplay and content wise, no. All the stuff they keep adding should've been in the game at launch or was or is similar to what the old games had at launch.
That's why people keep bringing up the old games.
Who cares if snes or n64 didn't get updates back then, at least FULL games were released.
"for a less annoying immersive experience, dl it today!"
Nice post! I thought you had a good analysis especially in the "could improve" area. I posted earlier about my first Geonosis game: I left out that I was placed in a game in progress, and after running around ( I like that sandstorm and constant laser barrage effect too), I jumped into an AT-TE (from being prompted to do so) and just lobbed artillery, and got a big streak, then got spammed by some hater for killing him several times I guess. I had no idea what to else to do and my vehicle would not move forward.
I do agree that Obi-Wan's abilities are not working right. With him and General Grievous there is often a delay (or not at all) in their abilities going off when you press them. I saw a significant improvement in Grievous' thrust surge since this update. Obi-Wan's mind trick, when it works, does't seem to be nearly as effective as Rey's. Also I kept getting mixed up with his push because Luke's is on the left and Obi-Wan's is on the right. The only ability that seemed to work right was his defensive rush which somewhat resembles a one lightsaber version of Grievous' Unrelenting Advance. The emotes would not consistently work right either. But I'm glad Obi-Wan is finally here and am sure there will be patches to continue to refine how well his character works.
Now that I read his comment again it makes more sense. I remember unloading using sentry on them and not seeing any point message while the HP seemed to go down or just seeing the score come and go. I wasn't sure if I wasn't hitting them, somebody else was or if the score was just bugged.
But, I am almost sure that (normal) Sentry damages them even if you don't hit the underbelly and that I got damage from STAPs when driving it. Other than that I kept using Ion weapons on them (the NT-242, the FWMB-10K or just Ion Turret/Missile). I can test today again to see if it really works with other weapons.
Not always, trust me. I've seen many bugs in fully finished older games. Whilst the way games are released now allows breathing room for the developers, it does also mean in the long run, the game is able to bring in big changes.
Lets go with the pros first.
Beautiful map and well designed. Finally a map that does not end in an enclosed space eliminating the choke point spam. Need more maps with this open battlefront format as this maps plays and feels much better than the current GA maps. Reminds me of the open maps from SWBF 15 so job well done with map design.
Sandstorm is a great addition and would like to see other weather elements added to other maps like a snowstorm on Hoth for example.
New vehicles.
No Wookies.
Great battles when teams are evenly matched.
No more tap and kill speeder spam.
The cons:
Heroes in the first phase. Might not be a popular suggestion with many on here but heroes should be available only after the first phase.
Spawn camping. Noticed a great deal of spawn camping, often done by players with heroes in the first phase, effectively ending the game there. Also enemies spawn camping by the ATTE's drop locations.
Too many heroes total. Should be a max of 4 total and only after phase one. Save the hero spam for the HU events please or provide a large mode with no heroes like we had in SWBF 15.
Matchmaking. Often played the same faction back to back and often had unbalanced teams.
No atmospheric combat. Disappointing that DICE could not find away to get star fighters or the LAAT involved on this map? The lack of air vehicles lessens the feel of an epic battle when the skies are empty. Unfortunately, once again, pilots are neglected.
Droid vehicles (Spider Droid) should be playable.
Should have some indicator to destroy the spider droids.
When playing as Clones, the ATTE's show as enemies on the radar, which has happened with friendly vehicles on other maps. Please fix as it is confusing.
After using the Sentry ability it still will be locked hindering movement. Still needs to be fixed please.
The destroyed ATTE's would linger on the map and still be a target for the ION torpedo.
When spawning in as an AAT would often spawn with another AAT on top of one another.
Servers were horrible. Had very bad lag and was booted from the match quite a few times.
No Geonosis maps for SA, Extraction, HvV, Blast or Strike?
Thanks for listening to and reacting to the communities feedback on the GA mode. Overall I'd say a job well done for Geonosis and hope to see more GA maps with the same open battlefront play style and weather elements, or SWBF 15 maps, added to GA. The addition of air to air, air to ground and ground to air combat should be added for the immersion factor of an epic battlefront.
Again job well done.
Join me, and together we will rule the Galaxy!
LOL. I got to play him yesterday and got killed by Greivous within seconds. I guess the force is stronger in the coughing one.
The Good: Heroes cannot dominate in the open fields as they are easily surrounded and mowed down. Makes for a more balanced experience when they just can't run away, regen and then return.
The Bad: The annoying sniper-spam when you are just trying to play the game. Crait and Hoth are similar but this one takes the price as the most annoying.
Played a couple of rounds and have no urge to come back. Perhaps when arcade includes it.
Oh, and some of the rocks that look like Mushrooms on Genosis are a pain. They are easy to get your character stuck behind sometimes. Overall though, good job so far DICE and thanks for the free DLC.
LAAT's would get shredded by specialists even more than normal. Only chance they would have is if specialists are having too much fun shredding the AT-TEs.
I'm not saying it's a bug. It could very easily have been Luke in Hoth gear, and I was very confused. But I could swear it was Obi-Wan, and I never saw another lightsaber in the area.
I'm not sure what countdown is counting. It could be counting AT-TE destroyed, but game doesn't end until every AT-TE deployed (even if not on the ground) is destroyed. It may be counting AT-TEs deployed and the droids still have to finish them. Whatever it means, destroy AT-TEs until there are no more. As long as one is on battlefield, game continues.
That's exactly what the counter does. It counts the remaining AT-TE deployments. And the "health bar" in the background is all of the health points of the remaining AT-TEs on the field. But what he's telling us seems like a bug to me.
Or you could buff the health of the LAAT but buffs seem to be foreign concept to most of the player base as they would rather cry for nerfs to the 242 or other weapons.
It's about time that GA had a map without starfighters. All due respect but you "starpilots" have an entire mode, plus the entire original GA playlist to choose starfighters. It's nice to finally have a mode where I'm only fighting enemies on the ground.
That said, I wouldn't take issue with an LAAT or two.
This is their most immersive map because the devs have attempted to prevent the inclusion of units not actually at the battle of Geonosis. No wookies AND no starfighters.
However, once Conquest is released. Providing that is a ground forces only mode, I think it would be fair to include starfighters on the GA version of Geonosis.
Dice -> PLEASE do not change the hero count or hero limits because of a very vocal minority.
Yh, I didn't know what the objectives were most of the time, need a bit of tweaking for objective announcements.
Also I would like a tweak for the STAP to make it aim higher,as i could barely hit anyone infront of me, and also make the controls more sensitive; i felt like I was literally dragging the thing around half the time, and it took me like 20secs to turn around.
One other thing to do with Obi-Wan is why did you swap the positions of the rush and push abilities? Both luke and Yoda have the rush on the right-hand slot, and push on the left-hand slot, but now you've swapped them and i keep pushing the 'all-out push' key and obiwan does a rush instead. Bit annoying.
Other than that, well done: beautiful map, love the AT-TE, and look forward to futher updates

Things I didn't like:
Overall loved it, great job, not noticing significant bugs, I just love SW, still love this game despite its problems, just keep new content coming of this standard.
Finally please put phase 1 of this map on blast!

I keep changing this for whatever reason but ehh...It can stay like this I suppose.
32v32 and
Star fighters. We need air combat over head. I need to be bombed and do some bombing.
The map seems empty at times with only 20v20 maybe with 32v32 it will feel like a battle.
But what do I know I just play the game you guys make it.
...and I'm waiting for my offline map.
He Autor in Germany is PHILLIP Mogg
He is THE best for German Obi Wan Kenobi voice
Sieh dir Electronic Arts DE (@EA_Germany) an: https://twitter.com/EA_Germany?s=08
Surely not....to have all these people spending their time shooting people on the ground...this is just killing game interest. When you see already that on map where you think you can hide yourself and have your chance you then Dis cover that it is completely bad designed (your are killed even if you hide in metallic container...then i let you imagine in map like geonosis...

The French voice is not the original one also...sad....
How dare you force feed us something just because it's new.
Where is the option to turn this awful map off?
Was thinking that at the end we will enter a complex or whatever as for example kashyyyk or Crait, but nothing....
No comment also to restrict the customer to play only this map...don't understand how this kind of approach could be validated in a company...Incredible. ..
1.
Ion Torpedo as heavy is too overpowered. I can stand at spawn as both Republic and Separatist and just spam Ion torpedos at every vehicle on the map.
It does too much damage on the AT-TEs so bringing them down is easy. AT-TEs need more health or reduce the damage the Ion torpedo does on the AT-TE while adding rocket launchers around the map which Separatists can pick up and use.
2. The Separatist out-of-bounds zone for Republic is too long. Separatist tanks can hide behind rocks and mountains at spawn and still be able to see and shoot everything on the map while the Republic can't do anything about it since they will be out-of-bounds if they get close to it with vehicles or soldiers.
Beautiful map & vehicles - with a bunch of potential (just beautiful work):
> Several reviews are complaining about the emptiness (20vs20) - I totally agree. There shouldn't be any spawn camping on a map this big. The objectives are clear - but the reinforcements are frustrating / slow / I don't know
> Not sure what air support would look like but both sides need an 'element-of-surprise' (like: droidekas or some of the deadly animals from the planet). Something needs to strike fast and provide a distraction? Don't know
> The speeders need a buff / shielding / something. The snipers are rampant and a slow moving object on this map is a duck. Speeeeders are needed. I actually think Count Dooku's speeder is a good choice
> Scanning for the enemy is definitely missing on this map. And a sunset theme would be cool
Otherwise, I see a lot of hard work - Thank You
Obi-Wan
- Overall, ability wise pretty good, very good stamina as it should be. The Force Push those not always land the hit on the enemy players but that could just be me aiming poorly.
- The weird thing is even for 750 health, Obi-Wan dies really quickly when he gets a row of hits on him. Seems to be the only bug or error I can find on the Hero so far.
- There are some weird bugs with the emotes, mainly the movement of one emote is a move from another emote.
General Grievous
- So far no bug, his abilities have been fixed that previously did not work.
Geonosis
- The first phase is a nice change on a scale compared to Kashyyyk and Naboo. Star small and each phase escalates which is something I do miss.
- The downside with this is the first phase is more challenging for the Republic side compared to the second phase. The Cis need to get more restriction the area of the map so the Republic team has a better chance of getting to the objectives.
- The second phase works, one might have an issue with the Main canon of the AT-TE gun depression, but it makes sense that you have to get close enough to fire on those techno-union ships.
- The main problem I have might be more towards the players but not really. The third final phase you end up to 4 - AT-TEs, some of these spawn way to early and Republic team is not quick enough to enter the walker before a great amount of damage is dealt on them. They seem to receive more damage when not manned compared to one that is, if you have a very clever/strong CIS team, they can win the match no problem.
- No need for starfighters, it kind of stomps on people when you have them in a match. In fact, I think you should try to remove them on some of the GA maps like Tatooine.
What might fix this if Republic players spawn in on default, they spawn right into the first unmanned AT-TE(s). When all are manned, you can spawn on the closest one towards the objective.
Overall, more positives than negative in this update. Thanks for the effort.
Love the scale of it and love the feel of it. I love the way the objectives work but I do have concerns over game balance. The droids have a pretty sizable advantage given their anti-vehicle options with the heavy class after phase 1 and the spawn options during phase 1.
It is hard to see where people are shooting your tanks from because the lasers don’t really trace like they did in previous games and the visibility is low with all the dust in the air.
There needs to be a counter to a group of heavies laying into your tank from the back of the map. Maybe some sort of broad scan pulse sent out every 2-3 minutes would help IDK.
But don’t get me wrong, I love the map! I am just worried I will get frustrated at losing and not really knowing how it happened or what I can do differently to not lose next time.
