Thoughts on respawning as hero.

I'm talking about when a player kills him self quick as soon as he reaches enough points to be a hero. I don't think that should be allowed. At least go get your self killed.

Nope it's fine. If there was a que system he wouldn't need to kill hisself
  • but then he would camp out and eat s'mores right next to the enemy spawn point or go out of bounds
cause everything you read on the internet is true...

This is one of the (many) things the old Battlefront 2 did better.

"Would you like to play a hero?"
    -Yes
    -No

    ...
The game needs to be changed so you can pre-select a few hero characters you like and when you get enough points it pops up the option to change to a hero. Also Heros should be on a timer so if your not scoring enough points as one (because your a hero wh*** and not playing the objective) you die and someone else gets a turn.
  • seems fine to me. Would add additional time which would be unnecessary for the first hero of the round

I don't have a problem with being able to respawn either.

    It does.

If you want to get a hero, you have to die to get it... so, would you rather click "Respawn" in which case your team loses a life, and that is it... or, would you rather get killed by the enemy team, losing your team a ticket and helping the enemy team generate BP in the process of you getting your hero?

I would rather continue playing normally, until I die naturally and if a Hero is available select it.

If it costs my team a ticket for a selfish respawn then I am not helping the team.

I assume people also hit respawn when they read "...has been defeated" or whatever it says. Imagine 5 people doing that each time. Only one of those are going to get to play a Hero but the team just lost 5 tickets.

The single correct hero with the correct player can win matches almost single handed... if you think 1 ticket is worth letting a bad get the hero and cost you the match... be my guest.

"I'm getting shot, I'll hit respawn to save a kill"
  • also depends: is your team losing lives attacking (blue banner), or does your team need to protect (red banner)
A red banner at the top of my screen - I will respawn - bc it doesn't hurt the team numbers.
**Most new players don't realize that the red banner is the numbers for the other team** Blue banner respawn if you are good with Heroes - Pleeeeaaase

I'd love to see your footage of a player winning a match single-handed with their Hero, please?

Or was it the back up of the entire team and strategic playing by the Hero player that won the match.

By all means, if there is a player in a GA game I'm playing who will hit respawn and promises to win the match alone without further loses to my team, I will completely 180 my opinion and hail their God-like playing ability. Never again to argue against respawn tactics.

You also fail to acknowledge my point about multiple respawns costing the team, when only one player will pick up a Hero.

Technically two people will pick up a hero, and most of the time people don't all die at once, the competent players will check the scoreboard first.

Nice strawman... please point to where I said a player could win a match "single-handed"... oh wait that isn't what I said at all... you modified what I said (which used qualifier language) to make it more extreme (by removing said qualifier language) and then attempt to refute your modified version.

As far as whether the correct player getting the correct hero is worth a ticket, I would sacrifice 50 tickets to get my preferred hero every match, as my team would win nearly every match.

Single handed no, as that implies 1v20, however I will solo carry a pub against a premade and rate my chances 9:10 times to see victory screen. Pub v pub that would be 10:10 no issues.

One hero is enough when played by players of a skill level high enough to easily win, light or dark, that is irrelevant. Skill>perceived OP mechanics

Your video presents my response perfectly. It was the back up of the team and strategic playing of the Hero that won this match. I haven't the time, or general interest to bother, but if I counted how long Palpatine spent in the capture zones I imagine it could be done so in seconds on two hands!

You didn't win "almost" single-handed either. At one point I counted about 9 team mates in the capture zone. That's a team effort. You effectively racked up a kill count - which a brief overview of this forum will tell you is not how your fellow players want you to play :D

Apologies, pub refers to a public lobby that you join with a bunch of randoms, premades is a pre arranged group of players traditionally communicating via a comms platform working together. Solo vs group essentially
  • I think it would be easiest if you could just spend the points early and reserve the hero. Then play normally. When it's your turn, you are given a choice to spawn as a hero or continue for a refund.
