I’ll say it again as it’s 2019, this game needs loot!

For me, this game lacks proper loot rewards and with forced credit farming to unlock content it feels like a really dated system.

Don’t get me wrong, the pay to win loot system wasn’t the best idea, but the original concept for loot crates isn’t actually all that bad.

I’d like to see a new loot system, preferably lootable items on a kill or certain number of kills. Alternatively some kind of loot crate for actually winning a match.

Replies

  • Bring back the old system where it actually took time and grinding to get rewarded.
  • And loot isn't dated? XD All in all, I'm either way in this situation but I thought that part in particular was odd to say

    Perhaps, poor choice of words.

They usually go hand in hand. So to have one without the other doesn’t feel right.

  • The games too old to implement any major changes.

I was. however, always in favor of whatever system would make this game the most money

Money translates to more developers, which would translate to more content

  • there is better things to worry about then loot boxes such as fixing the glitches and balance issues. I will say though that people really overreacted to the loot boxes that used to be in the game the whole thing was just stupid people really overreacted to the whole thing.

it was a major major change to remove loot crates. i doubt they will bring it back.

People are asking for attachments for default weapons, new weapons, more appearances.

After the Clone Wars Season there’s no reason why loot rewards couldn’t be implemented as part of game update. Doesn’t have to be anything complicated, even Hutt Contracts would be welcomed.

This is true, but we have equal numbers who are craving more content.

It was and you may be right. Doesn’t have to be the old system though.
  • but i'm all for them allowing new players to buy guns and mods and cards. that will help keep the game going if not growing.

How about instead of buying them they actually play the game and get them as unlocks
  • They made international headlines for a week from the lootcrate backlash, now people want the loot crates back.

If I was a game developer I'd quit and sell insurance instead, can't do anything right.
  • This game definitely needs more Cosmetics this year.
  • I'm really disheartened to see people want the loot boxes back. I'll never understand how people support gambling in games, especially in games that include teens/minors in their marketing.

The current system is fine. They just need to actually make more skins to purchase.

Correct. The loot boxes don't need to come back, they just need to make more skins purchasable for the game, and maybe new emotes for troopers.

This. Loot boxes and paid dlc are one of the worst things introduced in gaming. Alongside with host system instead of dedicated servers.

They need to bring back the 3 random boxes you used to get at launch (not pay for). This 500 credit thing isn’t good

Sorry, but I don't support RNG loot systems, and 'fun' is exactly how places like Casinos swipe your money. I wouldn't even be playing this game if they hadn't have gotten rid of them in the first place. Direct purchases are much more fair and I'll spend much more on things I actually get to choose.

Plus, the loot boxes were directly tied to progression. I've never seen anything like it (on a non-mobile game) and pray that it never happens again.

Absolute crazy talk, you’re demonising a system that if implemented correctly would surely be way more fun than credit farming.

Also, It’s not gambling if it’s a reward for achieving something. Imagine if you were given a loot crate for completing objectives or winning games.

Yes, rewards would be randomised and with differing levels of rarity but with an option to purchase with crystals, that wouldn’t be an issue either.

The progression system argument is now a moot point as reintroducing a loot element to the game wouldn’t impact on players who are ranking up.

    So dull.

    The problem with credits;

    1. Some players have more than they can possibly spend vs the time it takes for new content to arrive.

    2. Winning or losing in a game like GA feels irrelevant because the difference in payout is minor.

    3. Earning skins, emotes, heroes, weapons or attachments should be more engaging and rewarding. For example, I had more fun earning my weapon attachments than I did earning 495 credits in a game of blast.

    4. Credits are more suitable to limited use consumables. BF2015 sort of had it right, there’s some merit in allowing a 4th star card provided it’s limited use and consumable. For example a 5 x jump jet pack, bacta bomb or whatever that costs 1k a go. (Ideas only, not suggesting these be said consumables)

Sadly it's done all the time. I refuse to buy my kids anything that's a "blind bag" type of toy. And they get so desperate for them.

I suppose though that type of thing has been around forever in different forms....how many packs of trading cards would you buy hoping for that one you needed or really wanted?? Really not much difference....
  • but i'm all for them allowing new players to buy guns and mods and cards. that will help keep the game going if not growing.

That right there is pay to win...no thanks

  • Actually it should be Play to Win, it’s a game after all.
  • They will definitely not bring back loot crates. The game is too old, and there will not be any renewed excitement. The drip feed of content is all we should expect. I blame EA for making their greed to obvious with credit locked heroes at launch. I also blame the whiners that acted like the world was ending over p2w.
  • IMO, the problem here is people that have been playing since launch probably don’t have much to work towards.

I personally don’t like ‘leveling up’ and would just prefer having all the things and items unlocked from the get go, the exception being cosmetics... those could just be left for grinding at.

But I know I’m in the minority and ‘progression’ is a staple these days. So I think raising the level cap, and adding a few things to progress at would be helpful to this game for those that have many hours put in.

I agree with you. I strongly dislike how shooter games these days are all about progression. If I wanted progression, I'd play MMOs.

Well yeah, Slot machines do use bright lights and noises and psychology to be fun and get you into it. That’s kind of how gambling is still a thing in the first place.

There are ways to do loot boxes that I guess are ok, but in almost every game I’ve seen, all the good cosmetics get locked behind RNG with terrible odds that you are never promised to get. I’d much rather do direct purchases which are fair and I will gladly pay much more for something I can control.

Plus, it was tied to progression when the game came out which was a big red flag. Thankfully the storm that followed made the game a proper progression system.

Oh and earning attachments was more engaging than earning credits? You basically earn them in the same way, by participating and shooting people. With attachments, you just had to use a specific gun. I’m glad there isn’t a massive credit difference for winning and losing, because why should the losing team be further punished for losing? Maybe a few excellent players got a few bad players. Maybe one team in HvV had an afk player which basically ruins the match. Winning should be about the win, not just earning more.

Yeah, and additionally BF2 probably doesn't sell too well in Belgium, but they are getting sued. FIFA is also being attacked and that is much worse news for EA. FIFA is very popular in Belgium, and the people of Belgium would be very angry if they couldn't buy it.

Yep, they've banned loot boxes too. Hopefully in time, more countries will join in.

Developing a game and keeping it running are 2 different things. And this is FPS game anyway so not that much post launch development isn't required imo.

Agree, the biggest issue with the DLC was segregation. Walker Assault and Blast Maps should have been available to all, with heroes, weapons and standalone games like extraction DLC only.

There does need to be a stream of revenue and reinvestment, however I would imagine it’s about mitigating reputational damage at the moment. Not sure how long that will continue, although there are a lot of new Star Wars products being released over the next 18 months so time will tell if this game is to be used as a promotions platform.

It’s a massive problem in free to play games, I agree.

The way to make this work though is by not allowing the loot crates to be purchased. They would have to be earned in game.

Let’s say we have a new suit of armour, which is then split into parts such as Helmet, Breast Plate, Bracers etc. These would be rewarded in the crates, but those who want the full suit (as it is now) can purchase using crystals. No gambling, you buy it outright.

The orginal system sucks. I prefer the grind.

Lol loot crates is gambling, not right for kids, love the comments here.

But allowing them to play a game that kills, and gasses, and uses acid attacks and punching, salty abusive players etc is ok.

Yes i know its a FPS and isn't as violent as other games, but moaning about loot boxes isn't the way forward, more parental supervision in what your kids play is, therefore if it has loot boxes (not pay to win) then fine.

Having crates or extras available by purchasing using earned credits isn't wrong, (actually get rid of the crate terminology) and have ability to purchase extras besides skins, grind = credits = reward.

Didn't get all the characters free either but just so the cant be bothered crew didn't feel left out they unlocked them all, (pleased they don't now).
I did grind from the start and if i was coming in as a noob now i would grind again, i earned my cards credits and characters, and still am grinding to finish leveling some hero ships.

But for all those moaning about a level playing field, fine lets get rid of all the star cards and let skill be the decider in game, you will still get runners and glitchers and complaints about pre mades, and i guarantee the salt wont stop because noobs will still say please nerf everything, because i am not able to cope with getting killed by better players.
