Agreed. Also by new content, try maps, not a re-skinned Falcon or Slave 1.
It's really strange, that the title of the franchise is "STAR and WARS" which to me signals that it's wars out in space or in Star systems in a galaxy. Not 4 heroes and 4 villains having a small scale skirmish over 10 minutes, or a small strike team of troopers moving a package from A to B. I mean it's not really a "war" if it's a small group of people fighting is it?
They may as well have called the game "Jedi Conflict: A Little Skirmish 2"

I haven't recently searched through the 20 pages of this thread, but in 23 days it will have been 1 year since the initial post.
Has there ever been an answer in those 20 pages other than to say this is not a Megathread?

Give us a separate ZOOM SENSITIVITY setting for just Starfighter Assault on XBox. The aiming is so twitchy on any setting other than ZERO it is nearly impossible to use. But when I switch to any other mode like Strike, Blast, Galactic Assault or Arcade Trooper missions, ZERO is way too slow, so I have to go into Options and put it back to 55 or 60 for Trooper aiming Zoom Sensitivity to be usable. This shared setting makes it hard as can be to play Galactic Assault and pick a starfighter during the round without quickly going into options setting it to ZERO, play till you get killed, go back to Trooper setting of 55 and rinse, repeat, wash, x2, x3, x4... over and over again.

They could do carrier vs carrier, the Death Star Trench Run, Coruscant battle, etc...

I get one, then the next lobby never gets enough to start.
Go out, search again, missing 4 players, and the number needed to start only goes up.

SA dead? The second largest and most balanced mode in the game? Don't know as I haven't played SA, or any other mode in this game for over a few weeks, but would not surprise me if it i taking longer for SA lobbies to fill. The entire game, not just SA, has gotten repetitive/boring without new maps and blaster/weapons. Too bad as Criterion did a fantastic job creating SA with improved flight mechanics, some great maps and covering all eras but unfortunately, EA/DICE is neglecting SA which is killing the mode.
3 Falcons to fly in the game but Obi Wan drops with no Delta 7 or even a reskinned Eta2 to fly. Could have added Jango and Slave 1 as a SA only hero, like Poe and his black X-wing, to counter Obi Wan but nothing.
No SA map for Geonosis. Even ported SWBF 15 FS maps like the DS or Scarif for space battles and Sullust and GoG for atmospheric battles would be welcomed and have been requested but nothing as of yet. No Dev communication regarding SA can be found anywhere in months. Nothing official, just some back channel communication between hsf and EA Tom.
I'll start playing SWBF 17 again once there are new maps for SA and other modes like Extraction.
SA needs new maps.
GA I have no wait, HvV the usual waiting for 1 player, but get them quick, SA still waiting....

Instead of going ahead and buying the new Heroes (which I know I'll never use as I don't play Hero game modes) I decided to play some Starfighter Assault. It was just as great as I remembered, except there's a short countdown before re-spawning which isn't a big deal, just a minor annoyance.
To me, the only thing this mode needs is more maps. I would prefer if Dice didn't change anything about the game mode, as it's been awesome since it's creation. I don't want new ships, but think it's something Dice could pull off without Criterion. I just don't think new ships would add enough content to get me back into SA for an extended period.
Just a few new maps would get me playing this regularly again, even if the new maps are recycled from the previous game or taken from the campaign (which may be easier than creating new maps from scratch). I'd prefer new maps based on the starfighter battles from Rogue One or classic battles from the original Trilogy, but I'd settle for whatever they can come up with as long as they're built to resemble the current maps with Objectives, obstacles, capital ships, etc.
Anyway, this mode is great but needs more maps.
Getting the hang of most fighters, but just can't bring some to work like the TIE-Interceptor or New Order Interceptor.
A-Wing works wonders though.
It isn't dead, but only a few servers seem to ever have games going. If you are playing on PC, try US Virginia or Germany. That is where most of the SA players are these days. If you are playing on a different platform, sorry, someone else will need to throw a recommendation or two your way.
Maybe the SA event in two weeks will make it easier to play (at least for that weekend).

TIE-Interceptor is a train wreck. FO Interceptor is a pretty solid build though. The turret gunner can be a (literal) life saver at times. A-Wing is always my first choice though, it absolutely wrecks. The bombers can be surprisingly effective as well, once you get the hang of them. I can earn faster in some of the bombers than I can in some of the interceptors. I'll take a droid bomber over a tri-fighter any day. Tie bombers are my vehicle of choice on Endor and Fondor as well. BP factories with the multi-missile ability.
The empire have the worst interceptor in the game, it's slower, less maneuverable, and even with maxed out cards struggles to take out its equivalent where as the a wing along can dominate even hero ships

If by trainwreck you mean that.the TIE interceptor is an absolute beaaast. Then yeah. Alot of people hate the tie interceptor but those people rely on long fire cycles to get kills.
The tie inteceptor fires 4 bolts at once. So if every time you fire you hit you can owwwwn any other ship. Just never slow down and be reeeeally accurate.
I almost never play bombers unless the objective is being neglected. If not its interceptor or hero ship.
As for separatists... tri fighter allll day. Ill have 5 or 6k bp by the end of the first phase of ryloth. Then ill hit up my boy boba and really take the mickey.
Try flying in 1st person it turned me from an awesome player to a tru elite pro.
As there is no real big database of Ships, their Health and Damage I made an own excel file and try to collect some infos. So I tested the Ships in Arcade mode vs Ship turrets.
The Interceptor fires several shots but the shots combined feeled like a 1,5 laser hit of an A-wing or Y-Wing. Totally not 4 times. Sometimes I had the feeling half of the bolts hit, while the other half hit the starship itself. So they were below the white circle.
You are right, the TIE-Interceptor does more damage in bursts than the long shooting line you get on an A-wing that the A-Wing can adjust behind. It is just when trying to kill Y-wings or Hero Ships on your TIE-Interceptor you are very fast out of dakka. Even with purple coolers.
The Points you get for shooting something, is that the real damage numbers you do? Or is there a way to see what actual damage you do to a target?

Yeah... Criterion should have developed a new Rogue Squadron game instead of SA if it was going to end like that. I still have hope that EA noticed that people loves the mode and decides to do some kind of reboot. They clearly have talented people at Criterion that could do it justice and they could have kept SA as an online mode there.
I am not sure if they are exactly the same damage or there's some kind of multiplier, but what I am sure is that the points are proportional to the damage in the same way. So if you get 30 points for shooting something with a ship and 50 with another, it means that the second ship did deal more damage. So, while the numbers might not be the exact damage value, they can be used to compare ships.
Even if they have nothing planned right now, I really, really hope they will consider to add at least some more maps later down the line. At least add the starfighter campaign maps as simple dog fight maps or something. SA is one of the best designed modes in the game and it feels like the most requested content is newe SA & Extraction maps. It would be a real shame if they didn't add at least two or three maps at some point. The mode is fun but became boring with just the same maps.
Please DICE don't give up the mode completely!
First hit on Turret gives none, second some.
Each hit on a TIE with several different fighters give 3 points.
Shooting with the Falcon on a TIE gives 1 point per each hit.

As much as I love starfighters, I love SA and I was really excited about the capital ships part of the new mode I agree with you. Forcing ground troopers to go on starfighters is not a good decision. They might not like doing it and would be detrimental. Let starfighters help but give the option to each player to decide their role on the battlefield.
It would also allow the mode to flow better instead of stop starting by changing from air to ground.
