Wow! SA must be improved A LOT!

With the announcement of Triple XP for Starfighter Assault I recently started to play again that gamemode. I abandoned a while ago, but now I'm returning, I didn't know it was that bad:

- Remove the respawn system. Really, 5 seconds? And then go into the objectives that are far away? It is too much.
- Are there any new cards? Now I deal minimum damage and they destroy me in few seconds. I used to play with the starfighter, level 30 purple cards. But now I can't barely keep alive.
- HERO SHIPS!! THEY ARE SO WEAK!! IMPROVE THEM!! Seriously. Millenium Falcon and Slave I are useless. They are big targets and cannot avoid anything.

  • Slave 1 I can understand not having the speed, but the Falcon is the fastest ship in the Alliance fleet, which includes A-wings. You know, fighters designed to outrun TIE fighters, the fastest single man fighters in the entirety of big governmental history (Republic/Empire)?
  • The first and third one are side effects of improvements to other modes (which is what SA usually gets as updates). When they added the squad spawn they added the 5 seconds respawn (which was also in Arcade for no logical reason). When they added Hero Starfighters, they needed to "balance" hero ships to fight against each other. Take into account that not all of them were nerfed. Only the "old" Falcons (Lando's one came after that), Slave 1 and Maul (which lost health regen during cloaking). Any other hero ship actually got buffed (to the point that glass cannons like Iden's got extremely better).

    My issue stems with the ST maps, having no bombers when we've seen bombers on both sides in many forms across various forms of media is really lame. Also more maps, too many good space engagements being overlooked!

    It is at its core, a great mode, I just think it suffers from a lack of content. I wouldn't mind if they brought back some of the old star fighter maps just to add some variety into the current playlist.

    Controversial but I liked the death star trench run map set up from the first game, less so the objective but the map and the star destroyer assault were stunning visually

    Make no mistakes, it is abandoned. The last "content drop" it got was Lando's Falcon during the Solo season half a year ago. And the last REAL content drop (maps) came during the TLJ season with D'Qar more than a year ago. There's a thread with 20 pages on this forum about the mode that has 0 recognition from the dev team. There is a thread in reddit asking for supporters of the mode and it also didn't get a single response. They don't want to either acknowledge that they are working on it or that they don't. It is like the mode is in a limbo... Sorry for the rant, but the situation is really annoying.

    About SA, other than the unintended changes there hasn't been any change to cards as far as I know. What they did change is the UI when they introduced Hero Starfighters, and recently they retweaked it changing the aiming reticle (that circle on enemy ships) depending on your distance to the target and some other small changes to it. I doubt that's the cause for you dying more. Maybe the problem is that you are rusty and the only players sticking to SA are players that have been playing the mode a lot and are experts.

    I absolutely agree, the last of ST bombers makes the gameplay blah. Moreover they just need to add some new maps, like I agree with the suggestion to add stuff from BF2015 to the game, heck even add Bespin’s campaign map in the game. This mode if given new content can honestly be a standalone game.

    Great analogy, I agree, they bombers need to be put in the sequel maps. And if they have no ideas for space maps, perhaps they could use that Resistance TV show for space map ideas.

    of course when Boba drops the bomb it deals a lot of damage, and if you are lucky you can destroy a lot of ships (I destroyed 4 or 5 yesterday in Fondor). But my problem with Slave I (and big ships such as Millenium Falcons) is that you are a big diana for all the enemy players; also you cannot avoid them so easily. You can be destroyed in few seconds.

    Lets see, I don't even watch resistance.
    I tried, lasted 7 minutes, the kid pilot annoyed me more than Ezra did and I just walked away

    But map possibilities:
    Naboo Space
    Coruscant I know this will be a let down, but 2nd beswt space battle in the films (Endor beats it out)
    Yavin DS1 They can bring back and expand upon the Trench Run
    Endor DS2 (which we can watch during DS2 ga)
    Eadu 1st choice, my preference if we could only have 1 from RO

    A part from the main (and almost only) location of Resistance, there isn't much else from the show that could be used. But there is the Poe comic book that has a few battles and new planets.

    EDIT: I think that trailer is relevant to the ST part. It's the trailer for the second part of the season and it showcases a lot more starships than the first half of the season.
    There's even Kylo's ship, Starkiller Base and Hux's monologue from TFA
    .

    While I do agree with those map ideas I only mentioned Resistance for ST map ideas, and while the show hasn’t shown many ideas yet, I am sure over time as the series progresses it will, which will allow for some interesting map ideas for the ST. But I do agree we need more OT space maps, like your list suggested.

    The ion cannons should lock your speed,not reduce it to 0. That way it gives some leeway and you now have a chance to outplay them since you're good enough.
  • Might not be everyone's cup of tea but the battle in the sky above starkiller base would be a good engagement for the ST maps.

    Are you serious. Slave 1 is a beeeeast. On dqar once i get that ship ill be in it the entire game.

    If you think slave 1 is trash you must be a very bad pilot. Slave 1 is by far the best villain ship in the game.

    If you buff hero ships anymore i will take the mick even more.

    1. I have not played in a good while SA.
    2. I don't have any good cards with any Hero Ship because when I played the loot crates and random cards were in the game.
    3. There is a lot of new people who doesn't know yet how to properly play SA. If the team is bad, then they cannot "protect" you.
    4. I play with pad, always with pad airships like BF3, BF1... Don't know if that is a disadvantage (I play on PC).

    I think the 5 second respawn timer is annoying, but not that big of a deal.
    There aren't any new cards.
    Hero ships are right about where they need to be. In fact, Dice should have never tweaked Hero ship health when Hero Starfighters came out. Most Hero ships should have less health and the Falcons should get a slight health boost (as their only defense is their tankiness). Let's not make Starfighter Assault into the mess that Galactic Assault is with the Hero spam.

    Hero ships don’t need to be the hero/villain equivalent of their counterparts in GA. The Millenium I think really should have had a turret to help with people tailing you though, it would fit the ship perfectly as well

    Well definitely I should get back to SA. Yesterday I played full rotation and I reach a 10 killstreak with Vader, but I level up slowly. I hope to get some purple cards in the Triple XP weekend.

    Then there's the attacks on the Super Star Destroyer in the Battleof Endor, and then the Dreadnaught assault at the beginning of The Last Jedi. Many things that could fit in perfeclty.

    Exactly this. ST bombers, if they increased the number of ST maps should be a must. It doesn't make sense that for 1/3 of the maps you are not allowed to use one of the classes. It's like playing GA and not being able to play Specialist in ST maps.

    Great analogy, I agree, they bombers need to be put in the sequel maps. And if they have no ideas for space maps, perhaps they could use that Resistance TV show for space map ideas.

    I tried, lasted 7 minutes, the kid pilot annoyed me more than Ezra did and I just walked away

    But map possibilities:
    Naboo Space
    Coruscant I know this will be a let down, but 2nd beswt space battle in the films (Endor beats it out)
    Yavin DS1 They can bring back and expand upon the Trench Run
    Endor DS2 (which we can watch during DS2 ga)
    Eadu 1st choice, my preference if we could only have 1 from RO

    Totally agree with the maps. I love the mode but I really want new maps for it. I'm tired of the same six maps over and over again. Your ideas are all great and are all iconic movie battles. I don't understand why they were not in the game in the first place. Although DICE doesn't seem to have SA plans right at the moment, I really hope they haven't abbandoned the mode completely and will add at least two or three more maps sometime a long the line.

    I came back and was better than ever / got my first 1st place.

    Quite possibly because the awesome players I used to come up against all quit. ;)

  • Yeah, it seems like there are quite a few newer players, which is great, except that some players don't play the Objective as much. I'm still trying to get back into it.
    And it feels like teams are more evenly matched, which makes the games more interesting.

    No; you need to improve.

    It's common sense. If you've not played it for a while then you're going to have to invest and get back into the swing of it again.

    The only things SFA needs is B-wings and more content.
