Would You Buy Content if it Increased the Flow.

Prev1
I myself do not have an issue paying for content or skins - I have never had to do the later as the game is quite generous with credits as long as you score well or are patient.

I would be more than happy to buy, say, a map pack for each game mode, one for weapons, or another for that seasons skins depending on quality and how many.

Where do you stand 1 year after launch?

For Starfighter Assault, Ewok Hunt, or Extraction maps, I'd pay for DLC.

  • If THIS is how they do it "for free"....then yeah, honestly I'd BUY a proper (like BF2015) dlc for this game if it increased the content like THAT games dlc achieved!

    Yes of course
    Obviously isn’t gonna happen though

Not at all. They dont even have the heart to tell us that nothing much significant is coming after February.

You would need to be stupid to have actually believed lots of content was coming after February
  • I would buy content as in maps, game modes and maybe hero packs. I wouldn’t buy skins though, unless they came as a set i.e a pack of 10 Empire skins.
  • I have no problem buying content but..uaki63akcheq.gif

  • I've repeatedly said I would buy a Season Pass at this point if it meant giving me at least 4 DLC drops with multiple maps and heroes in each drop.

Make the maps like Geonosis...large enough to accommodate the new conquest style mode and GA, but with cutouts that can be used for smaller game modes.

The only way a game with free DLC will be able to add the same amount of content is if similar profits happen off microtransactions.
  • Also, give us a server browser first. That way, new maps don't get lost in the shuffle and DLC packs don't have to be in their own playlist like Battlefront 2015.

They could sell server time like they did in Battlefield 4, letting fans create their own server rotations.

  • Yes and no.

I'd shell out real money for Iden skins

New maps I'm iffy, it was a major criticism last game for paying for maps and it does split the player base.

Weapons are very iffy, most likely because if they do add "new" weapons it would all be from assets already in the game. T21 and SE14C are already in the game and I don't like on disk DLC type stuff.

Odds are if they would actually crank out cosmetics and raise the price they would be getting a significant amount of money but that just isn't what they are doing.

To me, this is the major problem with paid DLC that includes maps. Splitting the player base causes it's own problems, which is why the "free" DLC model seems like a good answer.
What I think would work better is to have ALL cosmetics cost money. If the cosmetics are of a high enough quality and quantity, and players buy them, they fund the production of more maps, weapons, etc. and the game stays fresh and adds content more frequently. I've never seen this be successfully implemented though.

Early access to new content, like a month or so, would be an acceptable premium offer. That splits the playerbase, but not permanently so.

The game would have been miles better and you guys would have actually made some money

    Win win for everyone
  • I like the idea of skins having to be bought with money. I think this is a good way to pay for the game, and provide first-rate desired skins the playerbase wants.

As for paid DLCs, I am not as much of a fan for these. Players who don’t want to pay more money won’t pay the money, and this will split the playerbase between the free maps and the paid maps. Also, don’t forget that some people are already paying for Xbox Live and Playstation’s equivalent on top of the game itself.
Add more Extraction and Hunt maps please!

What the ROADMAP should look like for 2019/2020:
    “Season” 4: Rogue One
    “Season” 5: Clone Wars Revival
    “Season” 6: Episode IX
  • If it was bug free, and good content, and fast, but the maps were available to all people, then sure.

No. That is the main reason I didn't buy the first game.
  • I would pay cash money for a DLC or skins.

They missed a huge opportunity in selling cosmetics.
  • I would have bought season pass or DLC IF the game was advertised as such in the first place, but it wasn't.
Only gamers consider paying more after a company failed to deliver the product they promised, think about it logically and not with the "i love star wars and gaming" glasses on.
They advertised the game with free updates and life service, THEY failed to deliver that because EA was just greedy with their loot box system, yes there was more outrage in this game then with others because Star Wars is extremly popular, but that doesn't change the initial promise.
Let's say they would change now to a paid DLC model because fans "demanded" it, then we just encourage companies like EA to be even more greedy in the future, because they don't need to fear any backlash "let's just put even more of a grind and paywall into it, if it upsets people we just change it and wait a couple months till they beg us to pay more for what we already promised them".
  • I wish they would have done paid DLC from the start. I do think that had their loot box system worked out, we'd have a pretty amazing game with loads on content right now. Instead we've had this "live service" drip feed of free content.

I don't blame them though. From a business stance, It was smart to abandon the game after loot boxes were removed. GG whiners that want wanted free stuff.
  • I wouldn't call them "whiners" but otherwise I agree that things would have been different.

I think having heroes credit locked was a bigger deal as it was a greedy attempt to force us choose between using credits on heroes or upgrading troopers. I think we can all agree that DICE made horrible decisions with this game.

I thought it was an easy choice, Vader and Luke 1st :)

I had plenty of cards from the beta to start out with, plus a few deluxe edition cards.

Now everyone is complaining there is nothing to spend their credits on.

    Ok

Or we pay a premium pass to get DLCs with much content in each: new weapons, skins, maps, heroes, vehicles.

Or resign ourselves a misery content: no new weapons, 2 new maps: one big & on small, few skins.

What if you did the skins market style and on rotation just like fortnite? I’m sure there will be naysayers to anything fortnite related - but having them currently in list style and always available drives down demand bc those without them can purchase at any time, or just wait enough days for their daily credits to stack up without even playing a single game. You’re only able to capitalize once in a run of new content under the current model.

In regard to Premium DLC, why not make it purchasable with credits or crystals like skins? Those who don’t want to use real money can play the game to accumulate their credits for it, others would pay for it to have in the short run. I have a decent amount saved but I would still pay real money for some new DLC and if I anticipated new skins. I would stick to maps and skin DLC while keeping game modes, weapons, and star cards free to all to avoid splitting the base or claims of pay to win.

Holler at me with thoughts, all.

  • Yes and No.

Generally speaking, I am against DLC. I want a complete game not 75% of it.

As for BF2, I want more maps and weapons and if a DLC was to be launched, I'd buy it but I don't want a DLC particularly for maps in the first place because as @Empire_TW it would split the player base. Heroes is a HUGE no for being strictly DLC content. As for skins, I'd buy Hero skins DLC but not Trooper skins.

Being that said, in a game where a lot of people constantly complain about lack of content, it's very unwise to release DLC.

  • I would buy Premium DLC for Battelfront 2. Yes I would. I work as a butcher and get paid good. I can choose what to do with my money. I would most definitely buy another season pass type thing. DICE!!

Since your return, you’re batting 1.000.
  • Yes. I would buy DLC if it meant more of it.
  • Paid for season pass on BF2015 - was delighted.
Would have paid for season pass on BF2017.

What is funny is the amount of people who decried DLC on the previous game, then MTX on this, in parallel with rage-posts where people are posting things along the lines of 'This is Star Wars! Do you realise how much you could have made/how much we'd pay for content/etc'.'

    Very short memories.

In a game with a large player base, you wouldn't. But Battlefront 2 is not the case. There's a reason we don't have server browser or map selection like we had in the previous game. Just look at the One Change: GA thread nearly everyone requested it.

I disagree, console seems to have plenty of people. The only game mode I’ve ever seen struggle is hero star fighters and at odd hours. They also posted there’s a sizable player base recently.
  • To avoid splitting the player base, they could have had maps free, but had DLC be new weapons, cards, skins, heroes, emotes, and milestones. I disagree with the poster that said heroes should never be DLC. They were in the first game, and it was fine.

Heroes being DLC could come across as pay to win.

Maps being free would be the best thing, odds are they could have funding from skins if they would actually make them and not wait half a year to make more.

That's the point. This is not a single platform game. It's on both Console and on PC. I play on PC (US Virginia) and I can assure you Hero Starfighters is not the only mode that struggles.

If we get a couple of maps per pack of the quality of Geonosis with at least two heroes and maybe a new game mode, then the complaints would be a definite minority at this point. Maps designed like Geonosis to be large enough for Galactic Assault and the new Conquest mode, but also built well enough that cutouts can be used for the smaller modes. That way every mode gets DLC content, and there is no small map/large map split like in Battlefront 2015.

A server browser interface would also help so that people who don't want to pay for DLC can just pick servers to play in that run free maps.

Basically, mimic Battlefield 4's Season pass execution. The level and quality of content added in that game is as good as anyone could ask for in a Season pass.

After the horrific quality of content and the bugs ... they should be paying us to play their DLC

Was $80 the price of each DLC for BF2015? If not what were they priced? Because, if they were $10 a month I would probably buy them, but anything above $20 would be a big no. I would even only pay $20 (not a cent more) during the summer months (June & July) when I actually play the game a lot.

Two Factors Would Determine If I Bought Paid DLCs:
    What was the price?
How often was a DLC released?
Could you buy a DLC a couple months after it was released?

Or was it all a Season Pass subscription which you paid for yearly and got each DLC when it was released?
Add more Extraction and Hunt maps please!

The 80$ I pulled out of the air it’s just something I would see ea pulling with paid dlc for this game.

Since well AC OD was 120 for just main story quests, without dlc. So 80$ for dlc is almost a given in a greedy game market
  • If waiting is all I need to do for more free content that I can play and be entertained by, I can certainly handle it. It's not like this is the only game on the planet, people can be busy with other things.
