Reduce specialist melee damage

In blast I can’t tell you how many of these specialists run around in a bubble knocking people out with the increased melee damage perk. I mean really, why is that a thing in this game?

  • Yeah it's kind of become another problem in GA too........with it's numerous problems.

They use it to eliminate heros/villians pretty quickly since the lightsaber villian doesn't get enough time to swing in between each of their melee attacks and the attack causes the player to stumble and also lose stamina, so you can't sit there and block for very long either. If you try to use force powers it cancels the ability before it activates because you got melee'd You can sometimes jump/evade out of the way.....but they generally try to attack you when you have little chance of jumping or your blocked from evading away, or they melee you into a wall or corner, so that you get stuck. The stumble helps to push you into corners or wall to prevent you from moving.

For blaster heros pretty much the same thing happens, except now you can't shoot them because they have the shield activated.
  • Really?...you guys want to nerf the weakest trooper class in the game?
  • Trust me they really aren't that weak anymore. Now that a lot of other characters (Heavy & Officer) have received nerfs themselves the specialist character does fine. The problem is that two or three melee hits from a specialist can completely kill any hero if the specialist has the right maxed out star cards activated. It can also two hit melee kill any enforcer.

In addition the melee attack causes the hero to stumble or get stun locked a bit and the melee attack can go on continuously, as the attack stun locks people in place it can be hard to break free from the attack if they are hitting you in the back or the attack can bounce you/cause you to stumble into a corner and once the specialist has you in a corner or up against a wall your finished. I'm surprised you haven't seen a lot of people using this tactic as specialist against you when you are a hero. It's become yet another reason as to why I steer clear of GA with it's hundreds of problems. The easy fix is just to have melee damage from star card do less damage to hero's and enforcers and not cause heros to stumble or get locked into the attack at all.

In addition the specialist can easily dominate in extraction, strike, and blast because of this problem, so I completely agree with you Pamela.......the specialist is far from the weakest player as i regularly play with the specialist.....he's just the less used character if anything.

The bug needs fixed and the specialist does not need fixed, end. Of. Story.

  • ....not end of story. The specialist shouldn't be able to melee kill an enforcer in 1-2 hits either.

If the bug gets fixed specialists won't be able to do that. So yes, it is the end of the story. Fix the bug, NOT the specialist.

  • What bug?

The problem is that lightsaber combat is going to get reworked and could potentially solve stumble effects during blocking.......but that doesn't affect how quickly enforcers get killed.

    There is no other bug.

How could you possibly not know about the bug to the melee system right now? Why don't you read the quote below that clearly explains the bug that I'm talking about.

What is the bug? Isn't Specialist supposed to have a stronger melee?

It seems a lot of people on here are unaware of what is going on with Trooper and Hero blaster-wielder melee attacks, since the Geonosis update and Obi-Wan Kenobi's introduction to the game.

So basically to sum it up, 2x melee damage is dealt, but for ONE melee attack (or animation) for when a blaster-wielder uses a melee attack.

Melee damage is actually supposed to be doing:
    • 50 front, 75 from behind (Trooper)
    • 65 (blaster-wielder hero)
    • 90 (Chewbacca and Palpatine)
    • 100 (Boba Fett)
    • 125 front, 150 from behind (Specialist with stealth)

Since the Geonosis update, this has changed to:
    • 100 front, 150 from behind (Trooper)
    • 130 (blaster-wielder hero)
    • 180 (Chewbacca and Palpatine)
    • 200 (Boba Fett)
    • 250 front, 300 from behind (Specialist with stealth)

It's another one of those bugs that have been breaking the game every major patch. It's almost similar as to what happened in the DC-15 exploding shot fiasco.

Before the last major patch, melee damage was a non-issue, and while specialist melee was still quite strong, it was still contestable even if you were caught off-guard and had the reaction skill to avoid death at the last moment.

  • Alright, I wasn’t aware there was a bug. No wonder I’ve seen so many bubble punchers lately, because they are taking advantage of it. Thank you for pointing this out d0kRX and thank you for being nice and helpful about my OP willywonka7.
  • Aww I didn't know about this......that's good to know.

Hopefully that part does get fixed; however, the other part of the problem is still that lightsaber wielders can't attack back quick enough between melee attacks because of the stumble and continuous melee attacking that can be done. Hopefully, this other half of the problem will get resolved too with the lightsaber combat changes next month.
  • I have to agree that the specialist Shield with the Stealth improved damage melee attack is a little overpowered. The player can run at you and you can blast the crap out of them and the shield never goes down and then even if you do kill them they always take you out with their melee. Maybe they could just make the shield a little weaker and let them keep the melee damage?

    How about no.
