INCOMING TRANSMISSION
The topic of Clone Trooper armour is one that we’ve seen a lot of feedback on across the last few months and back in December last year we mentioned that we were making some changes to the Clone Trooper appearance system.
We’ve heard a lot about authenticity when it comes to Clone Troopers and how they look, which is why we have been working closely with our friends at Lucasfilm to ensure that each legion is representative of how you would expect them to look.
One of the key goals for what we outline below is to bring you a lot more variety and choice to your Clone Trooper experience while retaining this authenticity.
DEFAULT APPEARANCES
As part of this update, Clone Troopers will have a new default appearance. The frequently requested ‘shinies’ will now become the default look for all Clone Troopers.
For those wanting to use the previous planet specific default appearance, you will still be able to do so as they will now become free unlocks.

104th Phase 1
PHASES
Another of the changes being implanted for this updated revolves around the different Phases of Clone Troopers.
We will be separating both the Phase I and Phase II Troopers and allowing you to use them as individual appearances as you desire. What this means is that should you prefer the Phase I version of a specific legion you will be able to use them regardless of the planet you are playing on.
TROOPER VARIETY
Under the new system, Troopers will be visually different from one another, but all the time retaining the overall theme of their specific legion.
What this means is a Heavy will have different markings to a Specialist (and Assault, Officer…), but you will still be able to tell which legion they belong to.

104th Phase 2
ARMOURED OFFICERS
One of the more prominent bits of feedback we’ve received revolves around Clone Trooper Officers. Under the current Trooper system, Officers only have the naval uniform appearance as an option. Once the new system rolls out in the February update, Clone Trooper Officers will be able to equip armour the same way as Assault, Specialist, and Heavy Troopers.
The naval uniform is not going away, though. It will remain as a free unlock for anyone wishing to use it.
LEGIONS
The changes being made also means that the number of potential Clone Trooper Legions being available to choose from will increase.
- New Default "Shinies"
- 501st Battalion
- 327th Star Corps
- 91st Recon Corps (w/ new helmet)
- 104th Wolf Pack
- 212th Attack Battalion
- Coruscant Guard
- 41st Elite Corps
- 181st Armor Division
- 41st Ranger Platoon
- 87th Sentinel Corps
- Navy Officer
EXCHANGE CRATES
With these changes, we will be implementing a system that will exchange the old Appearances for the Phase II version of the new Appearances. As part of this process, we will be removing the currently existing Appearances from the game.
What this means is that anyone that currently owns either, or multiple of the 104th, 212th, 41st, 327th or 91st Appearances will receive the updated versions via an in-game crate. Simply head to the crate menu once the update is live and you’ll find your new Appearances waiting for you.

501st Phase 1
APPEARANCE COSTS
With the inclusion of Officers getting armoured Appearances, the legion bundles will now cost 60,000 credits or 1,500 crystals. Legion bundles will contain all of the Phase II Appearances for a specific Legion.
Phase II Clone Trooper Appearances will be classified as rare and will cost 20,000 credits each, or 500 crystals.. The Phase I variants will be common and are priced at 5,000 credits each, or 150 crystals.
When this update arrives on February 27th we will be granting everyone the "Legion Crate". This crate is intended to grant new players a ‘starter kit’ of Clone Trooper Appearances, along with some credits.
- 41st Ranger Platoon (Phase I and II)
- All 4 Phase I Appearances for the 41st, 91st, 104th, 212th, and 327th Legion.
- 60,000 credits
The "Legion Crate" will be available from February 27th and will be available indefinitely.
CORUSCANT GUARD
This division of elite troopers was designated to protect the capital of the Galactic Republic and are identified by the red markings across their armour.
They could often be found patrolling the streets of Coruscant while also had the responsibility of protecting buildings of high importance. As the war progressed, the Coruscant Guard would go on to find themselves serving as bodyguards for members of the Galactic Senate and even the Supreme Chancellor himself.
While a lot of their duties would see them assigned to Coruscant, they also went off-world, often accompanying the Jedi.
One such mission saw them accompanying Jedi Master Yoda to the coral moon of Rugosa for a secret meeting with the King of Toydaria. The small force found themselves up against Asajj Ventress, apprentice to Count Dooku and some of her best Battle Droids.
Through the leadership and guidance of Yoda, the Coruscant Guards were able to make their way towards the negotiation site, successful in their mission but Asajj Ventress did escape.
501st BATTALION
“A great Jedi once told me that the best leaders lead by example.” — Captain Rex
Perhaps the most well-renowned Clone trooper legion, the 501st Battalion led by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Captain CT-7567, more commonly known as Rex, fought across many of the biggest and most important battles of the Clone Wars. Though they had the same hearts and the same blood as all their brothers, their minds were sharpened by the diverse battlefronts they fought across.

501st Phase 2
However, their Jedi General, Anakin Skywalker, was also a source of their creativity and skill. Being forced to follow along with the maverick warrior, the 501st learned to adapt, think outside of their training, and to do whatever it took to secure victory, though never at the cost of innocent people. It was with pairing Anakin’s untraditional tactics and Rex’s by-the-book strategies that they were able to grow into one of the greatest Clone legions the Grand Army of the Republic had to offer.
We can’t wait to see the new look Clone Troopers deploying onto the battlefront alongside the 501st and the Coruscant Guard. All of the above will be available once the Chosen One Update releases later this month on February 27th. We’ll be back shortly with all the details on Anakin Skywalker.
Edit: Apologies for the confusion, the 87th Sentinel Corps are a real thing. Chosen One Crate is called "Legion Crate".

Nobody asked for this
Phase 1 and Phase 2 in the same battle, fatal error
I agree but in that case, even have camo trooper on Geonosis is dumb so...
You do know that In the Clone Wars show there were Clones that had their Phase One helmets on when the others had Phase 2 right?
No, it's not. Because the difference is that there's a 30 year gap between Stormtroopers of the Empire and Stormtroopers of the First Order, and they are two different factions. Clone troopers did mix phases, because some troopers/legions didn't get Phase 2 at the same time others did, and some troopers preferred to keep their Phase 1 armor. I personally like the change. I've always preferred Phase 1 armor, and knowing that I get to choose it on any map is awesome. They're the same army, just with different armor variations. I'm honestly surprised that people are complaining about a small detail like this, and not the fact that you can mix like 5 or 6 different legions of clone troopers on 1 map.
Remember, Devs, Star Wars fans usually care about fidelity. We already have a heroes cross era that is a frequent discussion theme. Clone armour phase mixing will be another subject of discussion. I would say that if it happens, it'll be very likely to be reason of rework for the Devs.
Not so long ago I posted suggestion for armour phase rotation so that we could see both phases in all maps, but I guess no dev ever saw it. It may sound more complex to apply, but at least it would not mix phase.

2. About the armoured officers: they look great. Very nice.
3. I found these crate prices a bit confusing.
4. I was expecting to see previews of the clone armours rework, specially 41st specialist.
5. I was also expecting to see previews of the Coruscant Guards.
6. One question: from which phase will the jetpack clone trooper reinforcement be with that mixed phases system?
Soo that means a total of 8 clones per legion!
So freaking stoked!!!
Shues approved!

Honestly, whoever you spoke to gave you really bad advice because the 104th STILL have the helmet of Sinker instead of the standard Wolfpack helmet, and then there's this:
Seriously, nobody asked for this. I've tolerated the cross-era heroes but this is honestly the very last straw. You guys are ruining this game more and more by taking away any semblance of accuracy and immersion and turning this game into a ridiculous sandbox. You're clearly just flinging **** at the wall and hoping it sticks, so good luck with that and while it may mean very little to you, I for one am done playing this game and I'm sure many more will follow.

@S4M im googling too.
The ranger corps I believe are the scouts while some had green and white armour while some had white and camo.
Nothing, They're nothing. They don't exist. Lucasfilm has just given DICE some official sounding names for the Naboo and Kashyyyk skins and have seemingly changed the name of the 41st Elite Corps, but since the multiplayer of this game isn't canon, these legions aren't either.

181st - blue armor with stripes and kamas they look almost like 501st.
87th yellow gold
I can't get the picks to download.
for the exchange crates that we will receive for already purchased legions, will they come with the officer as well if we bought the bundle?
and also, will there be actual customization among the kamas/pauldrons/visors/backpacks from class to class
Things in MP are canon, it's just the way they're used that isn't canon (cross faction, battle outcomes etc.). So the 181st and the 87th will be canon when this update comes out.
the 181st and the 87th are probably the current planet locked skins (Naboo/Kashyyyk), while the 41st Ranger is probably the camouflage based on the name, while 41st Elite would be their grey markings if my theory is correct.
Things seen in the multiplayer are from canon but DICE have always maintained that the multiplayer itself is not canon, so why then is it dictating it? They could've more easily just scrapped both of these skins and just made the "shiny" skin the default then they wouldn't have to make up random legions that will never be seen in any canon material and change the name of a well-estalished legion for no logical reason at all.

They haven't changed any legion names. I've never seen anything saying everything in MP isn't canon.
Would't be the first time though, the Lego animated series/shorts are non-canon, but canon still dictates what they can and cannot use/do.
They haven't changed any legion names, what are you talking about? I've also not see anyone say that MP is 100% Non-Canon. Even Wookieepedia treats some of it it as canon, if someone had stated that it was non-canon, they would state that.
And even if it is non-canon, this wouldn't be the only non-canon product to have to abide to canon. The Lego Animated Series/Shorts can't contradict canon even though they're non-canon.
From what I can tell from the text, each legion/class has it's own unique accessories. You can't change them.
So do the movies and the TV show contain all the clone trooper divisions ever created? If you don't like the Dice-created divisions for some fanboyish reasons, don't play them.
My only problem is that I can't get anikin right away like C.D. because I need to grind to get both phase of clone troopers. I don't think I have enough credits cause I haven't been playing a lot. 😂
Then rainbow clones, which was also an eyesore
And now we have trans-phase clones?
Technically, it can make sense. In the real world, it takes militaries many months to fully replace technology due to different factors - availability, acccessibility, etc. It's not unreasonable to assume that certain troopers got their Phase II before others.

I actually wanted the choice to use Phase 1 whenever I want, I like that look better than Phase 2 personally so I'm hype for this. If you can handle cross era heroes than you can handle this, don't make a big deal out of nothing.
That sounds interesting, I hope your theory is correct too.
Yes, yes they do. DICE could've just as easily done away with these non-canon legions completely and replaced them with the shinies as default rather than spend time consulting with Lucasfilm to give them official sounding names. I doubt anybody would really have missed them and I also doubt we'll ever see them appear in any canon material, so then what was the point? Seems like a complete waste of time and a totally pointless change to make.
But it's not just about the fact that they've gone to the pointless effort of naming legions nobody cared about, they're also making the different phases purchaseable and therefore playable on any map. So not only are we still dealing with the scurge of multi-legion rainbow troopers, but now we also have to deal with mutli-phase troopers as well, seeing Phase Is on Kashyyyk and Phase IIs on Geonosis. It's a cheap attempt to get people to spend all their saved up credits by giving them more skins to buy in the cheapest and laziest way possible of giving players more purchaseable skins and I guarantee it's not going to work out for them. People will still hold on to their credits and there's not going to be a sudden rise in MTXs with loads of people buying up all legions in each phase of armour.

I think it's simply a matter of player-freedom. From the beginning DICE's priority has been having every component be canon, while these components can be mixed-and-matched in non-canon ways, almost like a simulation.
In the end, even as a die-hard Star Wars fan who wants accuracy and immersion, I feel it's just not smart to limit the options of players for the sake of accuracy.

You are such a party pooper...
I always prefered the phase 1 helmet anyways, and the 91st BARC trooper helmet too...
As of it would be nice to choose the helmet independently too of the armour, and upper and lower parts of the outfit too and some accesories/attachments...
extra ammo pouches arm/leg, bandolier, kama, mono/dual pauldron, goggles, range finder, extra armor chest plate
...and that for all factions.

Uh, the legions your're complaining about will be free for everyone.
You know this how? Are you a part of Republic high command? There were millions (admittedly a drastically low number) of troopers in the clone army. It's entirely possible, and in fact more than likely, that we didn't see all of the possible clone divisions in the handful of legions, battalions and corps that we've seen.
Honestly who cares. I'm extremely interested in accurate uniforms/armor/whatever in video games, whether they be historical or fictional, and while this decision does bug me a bit, I understand that this is a casual multiplayer game, and that players should be left to choose what they want. If this is what drove you to quit the game, and not an actual serious problem like the appalling lightsaber combat and the constant stuns, that's honestly pretty pathetic.
Eh? None of the 104th clones up there are using Sinker's helmet pattern.
This has got nothing to do with player freedom. It has all the hallmarks of a game that is struggling to stay afloat and simply employing a cheap and lazy tactic to add "new content" by taking what was previously a standard part of the game and making it purchaseable with in-game credits and MTX currency.
There are plenty of other ways that DICE could've improved choice when it comes to Clone Trooper armour without going down this road and both myself and @JackTHorn have shown this time and time again. But even though we've both accepted that some of our ideas and concepts simply aren't feasible with the way this game is built, the ones that are are still a darn sight better than what DICE is doing here. So clearly what's left of the BFII team are just phoning it in at this point if this is the best they can come up with in terms of improving player choice.
P.S. People can feel free to come at me all they like for this, but I don't care if they prefer Phase I to Phase II or vice versa, Phase I clones do not belong on Kashyyyk any more than Phase II clones belong on Geonosis. I don't play this type of game to play with digital toys in a sandbox environment, I play it to feel like I'm part of an actual battle from the Star Wars canon and all this inaccurate, immersion-breaking nonsense is ruining that experience.
