Commando Droid is pretty good, but...

...Arc Trooper is quite a bit better.

First things first, well done on creating two great new classes that genuinely feel like the Clone Wars characters

Both classes are great, but the dual-wield DC-17 pistols have an amazing TTK, far greater than what the Commando Droid can achieve.

To break it down, Shock Trap is better than the smoke bomb (in my opinion), the ARC range finder lasts about 2x longer and reveals enemies more clearly than the commando's heat vision, and the power blast is great too. Vibro sword is arguably better, but the E-5 blaster is too weak.

Early days I know, but so far I'd say the smoke bomb needs to have 3X the AoE, the E-5 should have a 15% damage boost over all ranges, and then the commando will be just about equal to the ARC.

Commando definitely has the fun factor though! Dashing around faster than a Jedi and assassinating clones is one of the best feelings I've had in ages!

  • Arc Trooper is loads of fun to play, went on Blast and came fourth after using him all match. Felt a bit wierd at first with the dual triggers, but after a while when dying and coming back as assault I realised I was still hammering on the L2 button unnecessarily! The Commando Droid looks great but I think that is one where we will really feel what he is like when we have got all purples. Not convinced about the smoke screen, still feel it is a wasted slot. Also, it was a little odd having the melee activate the right card slot as weĺl as R1. Feels good to have some more regular guys to level up, as I prefer non-hero modes overall.
  • The stun should just be like a grenade version of Dookus lightning
  • The E-5 is way better in my opinion.
  • agreed - the commando droid's gun is too weak, and the thermal vision is too short
  • Yeah the Commando's gun should be better, and his smoke is pretty useless.
Arc trooper is awesome though - love the dual guns.

Vibroblade is a heroe killer, that's what I love about the droids.

Only if the hero doesn't know how to roll I'd say. Rolling is the ultimate counter to the vibroblade. Luckily it recharges quick so you can slash at them 2 seconds later when their roll should be on cool down.
  • Yeah, I played some blast matches today that were heavy with Commando Droids and ARC troopers, I feel like the ARC trooper has the advantage overall, his close range DPS combined with the stun grenade is great, you can toss the stun down, roll backwards to avoid a commando droid melee, and then melt the commando with the dual pistols while they are on the ground. Commando basically only wins if he can land all 3 melee hits before the ARC starts rolling. At mid range, commando droid has a slight advantage thanks to the higher accuracy of the E-5 blaster, but it's not enough of an advantage imo, especially since the ARC trooper charged shot partially mitigates the commando's mid-range advantage. I feel like the Commando droid E-5 might need a 10-15 damage per shot buff. Maybe the smoke grenade should deal some damage over time as well to enemies inside the smoke, maybe half the damage rate of Boskk's dioxis grenade.

If people spam roll I use my roll, they move so quickly they're harder to hit.

The new reinforcements are in Blast too? Wow, it's going to be even less fun than it was before. No need to play it to get the 500 credits if it is a daily challenge anymore.
  • I love the new reinforcements. One thing though I played a match in strike with them on Naboo and I noticed that the ARC troopers were free and the BX droids cost exactly 1 point less than the regular B2 at 2999.

you haven't played this update enough if you think his E-5 is weak god forbid it gets a damage boost im all ready thinking about quiting this game all I have died to in GA is commando droids they are honestly a bit overpowered imo and im tired of new crap coming out ruining GA and HvV is just lame the saber changes suck.

I will say the arc is better for killing heroes but the commando droid just craps on regular infantry this game just isn't worth playing anymore.

Then just uninstall tbh. If you don’t enjoy it no point of it wasting space.
You guys are gonna make me rich......

Well, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I've found the E5 to be weak in terms of damage and accuracy. It seems to deal 40~ damage per shot, which is not enough to down an ARC trooper or any other reinforcement.

You've got to admit that their smoke bomb is underwhelming though, as well as thermal vision. The combo of both abilities isn't as effective as I'd hoped.
  • I find the BXX to be equally good because of it's insane agility, and it's gun works on all ranges even while running.
  • Commando is overpowered vs hero with vibraknife…. realistically against lightsaber should not even be close.
  • Much prefer using the Commando Droid over the Arc Trooper. Not a fan of the duel pistols. That being said, the Commando Droid doesn’t feel or look Star Wars to me.

I've been wondering about this...is the droid commando smoke screen based upon a time interval or it is related to a location (AOE). I've been struggling on when to use it as I don't want to out run the effect.
