


Star Wars Battlefront II Release Notes: The Capital Supremacy Hotfix

Hey Everyone,
It’s always a nervous time within the team when a big new piece of content leaves the safety of the team and finds its way into your hands. We always felt that Capital Supremacy was shaping up to be a great addition to Star Wars™ Battlefront II and we’ve been really happy with the feedback we’ve had so far.
In this hot fix we’ve got some changes going live that will address game stability. One of the biggest issues we’ve been targeting has been when you find yourself stuck on the deploy screen within the second phase transition of Capital Supremacy.
We’ve added some fail-safes which we believe will lower the risk of this from happening and will be monitoring the situation closely.
The AI in Capital Supremacy is a brand-new system and is located online, or server side. We believe they were causing some of the crashes we were seeing and have added some fixes we believe should address this.
Anakin Skywalker has had a minor balancing pass, affecting the damage and cooldown values of his abilities. We felt that while being the Chosen One, he needed some minor changes in order to try and bring balance.
Reception to the new reinforcements has been really good and we’ve got some tweaks that are being included based on your feedback. We’ve lowered the damage slightly of Power Blast while raising the end damage of the E-5.

The Star Wars Battlefront II Team
- Added fail-safe scripts to reduce the chances of unreactive spawning when transitioning between Ground and Capital Ship phases in Capital Supremacy. Additional server logging has been implemented to further diagnose spawning issues.
- Added tentative fixes for online AI causing server crashes on Capital Supremacy.
- Fixed a rendering issue that would occasionally cause the client to crash.
- Balanced damage and cooldown values for Anakin’s abilities:
- Reduced Retribution choke damage (86->75 points per second)
- Reduced Retribution push damage (80->75 points per second)
- Reduced Passionate Strike first damage (50->40)
- Reduced Passionate Strike last damage (150->130)
- Increased Passionate Strike cooldown (12->13)
- Reduced Heroic Might base damage (100->70)
- Balanced damage values for Infiltrator weapons:
- Lowered Power Blast damage (150->140) to prevent One-Hit Kills against Assault, Officer & Specialist
- Raised E-5 end damage (21->30) to increase the weapon's effective range
- Fixed an issue where players who join an ongoing match would occasionally get no audio during the boarding cinematic in Capital Supremacy.
- Fixed an issue that would prevent the ARC Trooper from gaining progress when playing on Phase 1 maps (Kamino and Geonosis - Trippa Hive).
- Fixed an issue where Darth Maul’s Choke Hold ability would occasionally be inaccurately activated from a distance when being used at the same time as another Hero's ability.
- Fixed an issue that prevented players from completing the Scoped achievement when playing as a Specialist, when fulfilling the criteria against AI on Capital Supremacy.
- Fixed an issue where Rey and Finn’s ability UI for the Insight and Undercover abilities would not always be fully visible.
- Revised the ping color of the ARC Trooper’s Helmet Scanner ability for consistency.
- Fixed an issue where Geonosians would occasionally be seen flying through the ground on Geonosis - Pipeline Junction West.

I will not stop complaining until DICE update Leia's Hoth skin's sideburns and add some for Rey!!
I think Retribution needs to have a shorter duration along with a total damage cap of about 250
I wish instead of decreasing HM's starting damage they decreased it's end damage...
Passionate Strike is a bit more tricky - if you remove its knockdown then it is only useful against blocking saber users, and not useful against any other enemies since: it's a slower and more clunky animation, and it's total damage (if you land both "strikes") is now 170 (10 more than his regular strikes). I think the knockdown is good, it just shouldn't be combo-able with his Pull - maybe a 2 second ability ghosting after the Pull?
F8RGE - it says Heroic Might's base damage is decreased from 100 to 70. But it deals different damage to heroes and infantry. The 100 was for heroes. Is the trooper base damage of 130 also decreased? Is it the same 30 - so 130 to 100 now?
Seriously stop bringing this up it's nauseating. This is a video game, and you need to stop your light side fanboyism and fix the balance of the game.
Characters should be skins, not stats. That's your biggest base flaw, and as long as that remains the basis for your system you will never achieve true balance.
I'm not against removing the passionate strike knockdown. Maybe it could still break through the block, but instead of leaving the player completely vulnerable via knockdown it could instead disable block for a few seconds or something similar? That way you can still dodge and not get insta-killed.
Maybe another solution could be to increase the distance PS knocks you back. You'd still be vulnerable, but not close to Anakin and you'll have time to recover before he reaches you. This would also incentivize using the pull after the strike which requires a bit more skill than pull then strike.
1. Eliminate the knockdown of passionate strike. I’m already getting hit for 300 damage, I shouldn’t be knocked off my feet also.
2. Add a brief cooldown between when he can use his abilities. For example, after I pull someone to me, I can’t use passionate strike or any other ability for a whole 2 seconds. This will eliminate the annoying pull, passionate strike, heroic might combination that doesn’t even give the other hero a chance.
That still doesn't fix the fact that Anakin has 4 stun abilities, FOUR. After the community has complained for over a year about the stuns in the game DICE still gives their new hero FOUR STUNS! How ridiculous is that?! The knockdown effect on Passionate Strike NEEDS to be removed entirely, like you said they could make it to where you can't block for awhile or something like that but I tell you I have had enough of Anakin chaining all his stuns to get free kills.
Exactly! I have had enough of Anakins chaining their abilities and running during their cooldowns.
@F8RGE and @EA_Charlemagne I don't understand how you don't realize how much Anakin is destroying this game for everyone else. The principal problem is that Anakin has 4 ragdoll abilities and can just chain them together to get free kills (Villains included). Now that the block on the ground is gone this is even worse, also seen and considered how high the basic damage of Anakin saber + cards is. You need to do this if you want make him more balanced (and I don't know if that's enough, but in the meantime it would be a beginning) :
- Remove the knock back from passionate strike (too easy use it on a villain and than decimate him with normal attacks)
- Reduce base saber damage from 140 to 130 (he already have a card for increase the damage of 25!!)
- Reduce the range of Pull Dominance (the combo of pull dominance + passionate strike is what make Anakin a nightmare vs the other villains, reducing the range of pull and removing the knock back from Passionate Strike that can allow Anakin to chain normal attacks for so long before the enemy can move, dodge or block will free the game from this shameful ''combo''. Anakin will be able to pull someone and hit with passionate but then the enemy will can block or dodge not being stunned once by passionate strike.
- Put a cap of 300 damages on Retribution vs Villains and speed up the animation
Guys I love this game and I understand your work but you really put the players to the test. How long will we have to wait to make this game playable again and see a character really balanced in the right way?
Blaster heroes abilities should focus on 2 things:
1. Movement and dodging so that they can avoid being hit. Good players will kite the saber user and usually get the kill if they out-maneuver them, however this requires rolling and abilities to do. If abilities are on cool-down they are at a big disadvantage.
2. a type of "get off me" ability like solo's detonite, chewy's slam, fasma's droid, iden's droid, bobas jetpack, and lando's shock, to clear up space between the saber and gunner.
This is why Finn is near useless in this game mode. he has no maneuverability or spacing abilities. yes he buffs his team, but with nothing for him to 1v1 a saber he will always be at a disadvantage.
My remedy would be to put the damage back to 200 total and remove knockdown
You seriously need to get better. Anakin is far from invincible. I don't understand all of these Nerf Anakin threads when I can beat him with ease.
And as far as Anakin mains running, the only way I run with him is IN

This will help with range since it is now 5 body shots instead of 8 to kill regular infantry
I think they should have increased base damage by 5, since it does about 45, so that you can 3 shot regular infantry in the body at closer range.

Why do people always respond with "proof" from HvV that Anakin is balanced? The community doesn't have that much of an issue with him in HvV - he's clearly OP (and don't use examples of you playing against low skill players to claim otherwise), but it's not game breaking.
It is in GA and CS that he is gamebreaking. It's that he can clear a whole room of 20 players over and over.
Clearly the way to balance is to buff some of the lightside characters and nerf Anakin - so that the lightside is still strong in HvV, but in GA and CS Anakin can't dominate a game all by himself.
i really hoped for anakin to be properly nerfed
which means
1000 hp ---> 800 hp WITH max star cards
170 dmg per swing --> 140 dmg per swing with star cards
retribution remove it or make dmg from 400 to 150-200 and duration 2 sec with a charge time of 0.5 sec
passionate strke shouldnt knock down
heroic might needs a strong dmg nerf to 200 dmg max cap
i really hope you reconsider your values and atleast look into my suggestion
because i play this game a lot and i would say i understand the mechanics of this game.

Why are you so reluctant to balancing Anakin? He is still gonna park himself on objectives with 1000 hit points, his combo is still gonna just be him knocking you down.
Thinking that Anakin only needed a small nerf is evidence enough that they don't play their own game.
For real. I never wanted something that bad.

You removed palps when he was barely half as broken as Anakin.
Since Anakin I've seen regular players which names I recognize absolutely dominate, when usually they can't survive more than a min or two with any hero/villain, these toxic little s*** emote on your body thinking they're actually good.
That Anakin sucks fyi. As did the dooku in the following video.

Something else, it even sucks playing on Anakins team, sometimes he dominates so much, that there is no one left to kill. The game becomes fun for one player only, in a lobby of 40 people ffs. This ain't gonna change.
I sincerely hope to see news one day that Anakin is properly nerfed so that we don't have this monotone gameplay.
