    It is vague, yes. However, it isn't a "no" which is what I imagine most people posting here were fearing.

    I am starting to feel that our keen development team are chained to their desks by harsh overlords who don't allow them to hint at future content until this "locked in" status.

    The problem is that it is not a definite "no", but as he clearly said there is a lot of stuff they are open to do. They are probably not capable (in terms of resources and funding) to do a fraction of that. So, unless they say they are working on it, it is most likely not coming.
    We have a lot of examples of things they might be interested with that never materialised: Crait's HvV map (once being worked on, nothing to share about it after more than a year from the release of the GA map), Strike maps (a Crait version was datamined), new Hunt modes (they seemed to like the idea, but got no comment back), Extraction maps (one of the best received modes and it only got updated with Kessel after they released it), more BF2015 maps (they asked about it a long time ago, but we got no response and no new ported maps after Jabba's Palace), new weapons (the ones they announced pre-release), new star cards (same thing as before), droidekas (remember Dennis tease a long time ago), a new large scale mode for Arcade (another Dennis tease),...
    If that isn't enough to be pessimistic, go check the roadmap website and keep the two static roadmaps they released close. Check how much stuff got released each month, check also the added stuff to the roadmaps. New vehicles, the emote wheel, clone trooper skins (including armored officer) and the new reinforcements. While these additions are content, they are not on the same scale as a new map for SA. I seriously doubt we'll see any new SA map on the current roadmap that goes until June. I hope I am proven wrong, but the only things I expected to get locked on are skins (most likely CW related) and Infiltrators for the other two eras. Maybe a vehicle if lucky, the addition of a block for Maul and Yoda and a second lightsaber tweaks update.

    Myself, I absolutely hate giving these **** the satisfaction of a kill and tend to manually respawn whenever I can just to deny the kill and hopefully at least some of the associated battle points too. Unfortunately, I realize that even spiting these kinds of players from the kill this way still benefits their team in the long run. Whether on offense or defense, manually respawning will give the opposing team one less opponent for at least a little while, and manually respawning while on offense seems to still deprive your team of a ticket, same as actually getting killed.

    This really gets compounded when you're being swarmed with one or even more enemy pilots all using the same godforsaken tactic.

    There's also the fact that I probably have several years worth of experience playing air/space combat games, Star Wars or otherwise, and I've never felt this aggravated until I started getting regularly trolled or killed by this tactic. And I've been mainly playing SFA in BF2 since maybe a week after launch and even in the beta, so I'd like to think that I have a good amount of skill and experience in this mode.

    It should not be this easy for these "loopers" to so easily troll or even kill people of my skill level or anyone, really.

    Any of you **** who do this looping tactic need to leave SFA or BF2 or multiplayer games in general or have a power surge go through your gaming console and irreparably fry it. You know it's a cheesy *** tactic, you know it's a cheap, shameful thing to do and you should feel ashamed of it. Learn to actually fly, learn some sportsmanship at least or **** OUT OF THIS GAME

    unfortunately, I'm not sure how this could be fixed. One of the really galling things about the looping is that objectively, it kinda is a "legitimate" tactic. I'm not sure it even counts as an exploit of sorts since it's just using the game's basic flight mechanics at the end of the day.

    I don't know if this is even a good idea, but the only possible "fix" that immediately comes to mind is a mechanic I saw in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon (as flawed as people often said the air combat was in that game). But that Ace Combat game had a built in mechanic where you could press a button to pull an evasive maneuver if pursuing enemies got too close behind you. That maneuver would immediately make the pursuer overshoot your plane giving you a chance to turn the tables.

    Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that players of that Ace Combat entry often criticized that mechanic (among others related to it). iirc, it was often said that just making it a button press made it too easy to turn the tables on anyone of any skill level and that it, among other gameplay features unique to that entry, really diluted the combat mechanics at the heart of the Ace Combat series.

    But I'm practically sick and tired of starfighter players for seemingly getting easy rewards for little to no skill, work, and tactics. I'm almost desperate for a solution of some kind, if only to spite these cowards.

    ha i hate the looping to and i also respawn as soon as i see its going to go that way, because you know as soon as you give up he's on your tail anyway! its tiresome and boring and time consuming! while youre doing it your team mates are racking up points leaving you behind, because of how long it can last! its a no win situation because none of the ships catch other ships up in the loop itself, so its pretty much who gives up first. In BF1s fighter squadron in the Xwing and Tie fighter looping worked a treat, because those ships had huge manuverbility advantages over other ships. so if someone was on your tail say, who was in an Awing..you'd get the warning they were on your tail then you'd back loop at speed, they'd always follow you in the loop and you'd catch them before even looping twice. you'd switch defence into attack real fast and take them out. it was over in seconds. But in this its just tedious.
    i get very frustrated playing this game yet im one of the best players at it! but its because of things like the looping and the sheer lack of anything you can really do defensively, mainly because of the lack of speed.

    personally i wish there was an option for constant speed boosts, like when you got the cooldown pick up in fighter squadron. to be able to play at speed would really separate the men from the boys. people would get a lot less kills but it would take more skill to get the kills. but then maybe more people play this one because noobs are still able to get kills. i also hate the spin, its does nothing because it spins on the spot, so its not avoiding any damage. in fighter squadron the left or right half spin worked a treat especially in head on 1v1s. to me star fighter assault is actually a more basic game, its just accuracy and playing the objective and using a bit of common sense. there's not much depth to the actual game play.

    Please add new maps to SA. The quality of play is fantastic, please don't make any changes other than adding content. New maps, new ships.

    Fix Hero SA by changing the mechanic. Even if you have to keep the "rounds" format (which would be a mistake), change it so you can respawn as a Hero Ship. I would prefer a "Blast" mechanic or even a "Target" mechanic over the "rounds" format. Either way, respawn as a hero ship.
  • Very sad, how neglected this is.

    Space combat is pretty good in this game, it only lacks more content and maybe more ways for new players to learn the ropes.

    I don't know what were they thinking when they designed Hero Starfighters. It was supposed to be the best way to level the hero ships but is a mode made for trolls and disappointment. It's easy to lose your ship at the beginning if everybody focuses on you.

    I would not be surprised if this thread is the largest on the forums to have never gotten a word from the team at EA/DICE. Not a single word. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero.
    Pilots are ignored by the team at EA/DICE.

    While we are at it. Please, make a version of the TIE interceptor from the trailer for ST maps. You can keep the same abilities and stats, but just give us the new ship. It should be easier than creating new maps, which would also be a great idea.

    I think Coruscant would be the place for it to happen, imo.

    But we've been abandoned @hsf_, like General Grievous' ship above Coruscant, our beautiful mode has been abandoned 😢

    Same, I only bought this game because I heard it had epic space battles. I was expecting at least 9 maps(3 from each era), but we got 5 on launch, then D'Qar came later.

    Seeing as how we just got the new mode with new reinforcements, but it didn't include any SA content, how about throwing us a bone and getting us some reinforcements for SA. Something like, I don't know, B-Wings. That would be nice.

    It stands to reason that there will probably be Rise of Skywalker content to coincide with the movie's release. I can't imagine there not being an iconic space battle (especially seeing as how Lando is back). It's conceivable that Criterion could be brought back to do a map or two in support of the movie. If that happens, I would politely ask that they work on a couple of more maps to be dropped prior. Don't care if they're ports. Anything to get some more content for this wonderful mode. And fine, you can throw in another Lando/Chewie Falcon if that's what it's gonna take to get some new maps.

    Wow... It only took us 26 pages to get a response.

    Edit: @EA_Rtas I must ask why it's taken so damn long to get a response. Even when I changed the name of the thread to "[MEGATHREAD]Starfighter Assault" and a mod changed it back while leaving me a PM explaining why, we still didn't get a response.

    You have or had a dedicated community to Starfighter Assault and because of the lack of involvement from the devs/mods/community managers, it's gone stale and just fallen apart.

    I can't really speak for others, from my side of things I'm a mod on all the EA forums not just here, so I can't get to everything at all times to post, but I try to do what I can. As I said I just wanted to give you guys a response so you're not just sitting here waiting. Sorry I don't have more information.
