Will you be having a Star Wars movie marathon before Episode IX releases, and in what order?

Prev1
Let's bring some positivity back into the forum.

For me:

Ep 1 > Ep 2 > Ep 3 > Solo > R1 > Ep 4 > Ep 5 > Ep 6 > The Mandalorian > Ep 7 > Ep 8.

You?

Ep 3 is my fourth fav movie, only just didn't make it to top 3. Best movie of the prequels.

How many times did you watch the last jedi? Just curious because I liked it better the second time. Not saying its great or anything, but I had high expectations the first time around and was disappointed.

And this. I've been watching in this order minus mandalorian when my uncle visits since he never saw the movies in their entirety.

That’s the order I try to watch it in (but I last tried before even the sequels come out. I remember attempting to watch Episode 1 late at night and every time I get to the part where our heroes travel to the underwater city I fall asleep).

At least Ep 1 has a good fight and battle scene at the end, makes the movie worth it.

  • Yes I will and in exactly that order, except I will be omitting Last Jedi as theres no reason to put myself through that ever again. Top 3 are RotS, ESB, and RotJ however Rogue 1 is a very close 4th.
  • That’s the only only order to watch in my opinion. I don’t watch Last Jedi, Episode 1 and 5 are quite drawn out to me until the end, which I enjoyed a lot and the beginning of 5, not a huge fan of the politics of 1 and not a fan of the space sequence stuff with 5, yoda stuff could’ve been better with the training, especially with more obiwan but don’t throw too much shade because it’s all informational. Episode 2 is kind of leaving a lot out I feel and droid factory could’ve been done better. Ending and Jango v obiwan make up for it. Episode 6 battle of Endor is kind of silly to me that a bunch of little Care Bears can over power a legion of stormtroopers, the rest was pretty great and amazing space battle. FA wasn’t bad but it was pretty much a copy and Kylo didn’t hit me as a bad guy. The prequels get waaaaay too much hate, 2 of them aren’t amazing but they hardly suck. People talk trash about the love story but Leias and Hans is kinda forced, they kiss on a ship and she loves him all of a sudden after having a love triangle with her brother that she didn’t know. Acting seemed fine to me.

Episode 3 was amazing, could’ve done more of anakins struggle and MORE GG, but the beginning is the best Star Wars opening hands down, and the ending is amazing. Episode 4 is the OG so we’re not allowed to say anything negative. RO was a masterpiece, nothing bad to say either and I enjoyed Solo, and it’s not fair to judge the box office because a lot of irrational people were boycotting and that’s not fair to do.

Still my favorite movie series, even more than Marvel so I can’t complain, just some gripes.

    Favs: 3, RO, 6, Solo 4/2
  • Probably around Thansgiving I’ll watch them in chronological order

I'm probably going to read some of the Galaxy's Edge and Journey to TROS tie-in books and comics because it was said two of all of the novels released in those publishing programs are providing the essential backstory to TROS:

It's looking more likely Batuu is appearing in the film in some capacity every day but we need more confirmation on that.

And since Resistance is not getting any continuation in the post-TROS timeline, I'm more intrigued on how Season 2 is going to lead into TROS now and the fact that they're bringing in Supreme Leader Kylo:

    star-wars-resistance-trailer-tall.jpg

Then, I'll see which of the films are on Disney+ and watch those and the films that are not on there, I'll watch the rest of them on TNT and TBS when they air.

Rogue One definitely is a masterpiece. Was amazing seeing it at the movies, especially the Vader scene. Completely unexpected. Loved the aesthetic, plot, characters and overall dark tone (which is also why The Mandalorian looks excellent). Deathtroopers are just awesome Even the R1 trailers are great. The movie gets better with each watch. Truly hope to see Scarif, Krennic and Jyn in BFII soon.

With how much time we had from OT, it was bone chilling to see Vader and Carrie Fisher. I almost screamed at the theater. The space battle and seeing all the New hope characters was such an amazing fan service. RO should TLJ how to have another droid that can have a big part, amazing. The 2 crystal protectors were a great addiction and had the most BA death scene in awhile. EVEN knowing everyone was going to die, I felt connected to them, and it was nice to see the “dark” side of Star Wars where the good guys don’t all walk away with a happy ending. If the Anakin/Obiwan didn’t hit me so hard as a kid RO would be number 1.

I call it the HBO feel. Can not wait for mandalore.
  • No, because I am not going to watch Episode IX. in theatres anyway. I won't give Disney more money for butchering this awesome world and its characters.
    My favourites:
    1. Episode V.
    2. Episode IV.
    3. Rogue one/Episode III <--- Depends on my mood.
  • No i know the Plots to Rise OF Skywalker its bad
  • Although I hate the sequels. I did just watch episode 2 again last night. Might watch 3 next and then the first half of episode 4 haha I really enjoy ep 4, but I think all the parts before they get on the death star are the best bits. Then mayyyybe I'll watch ep 5. I feel like I only recently watched it though so might not. Then episode 6. I'm kind of keen for episode 6 at the moment because I haven't seen it in aged and really like the scene where they escape Jabba's sail barge. Also the entire space battle in that movie is awesome. Probably my favorite space battle in any movie.

None of this has anything to do with the lead up to the next movie though haha I truly dislike all of the sequels.

The 1st to 4th order of my favorite movies changes often between these 4:

    Ep 1
    Ep 5
    Ep 2
    Ep 3

I can't ever definitively decide which I like most. Probably a fight between ep 1 and 5 though. The Empire and Vader is my favorite part about star wars, so I like number 5 a lot. However number 1 feels so different to all other star wars. Liam Neeson and Maul both have a presence that changes the movie for the better I think. Also the entire time they're on Tatooine and the night scene there and everything about that planet in that movie really makes it come alive and as though Tatooine is a social hub of the outer rim and a really interesting place. I always thought Tatooine was the biggest thing ep 4 has going for it as well. Like it's something we can all relate to in the sense that it's got the vibe of a buzzing city. Yet it's still so alien and futuristic (technology wise at least. Not space-time wise haha...long long ago and all :P).
  • It’s a saga, so of course I will see it in the order it’s supposed to be seen, starting on episode 1 and ending on episode 9.
Iirc The Mandalorian is not supposed to have any tie ins to the Skywalker Saga. It’s a separate thing on its own legs. So I’ll leave it out of the watching order when it comes to the movies.
Currently rewatching the clone wars, which is a ton of episodes.

    Top 3 favorite movies are 3, R1, 5.
  • No i know the Plots to Rise OF Skywalker its bad

Yes, I reckon I'll be watching all the SW films in the correct order:
    1. Rogue One
    2. Episode IV
    3. Episode V
    4. Episode VI
    5. Episode VII
    6. Episode VIII

Then off to the cinema for The Rise of Skywalker. Looking forward to it.

Rian Johnson shouldn't ever be allowed near another movie set or even allowed to watch movies anymore after what he did haha

Ep 8 had some good scenes yeah. Man it fell apart hard in a lot of places though. I also find it weird that I got caught up in the hype and even after it came out I said I liked it. Even though during the movie I kept thinking to myself that a lot of parts were bad. I did go to a midnight screening on opening night though. So you have to forgive that I went along with the mob and said it was good haha.

That whole slow chase they did was ridiculous. Why wouldn't the star destroyers just light speed to a point ahead of them and get within range? Also why the hell wouldn't those big laser shots just fly straight through space and hit them??? What was with the weird effect as though they had a star below them curving the shots?! Stuff like that was even too much for star wars to get away with haha

Yeah a lot of scenes dragged on, that casino planet was just a waste of time, Crait battle was awesome but didn't last as long as it should've. Leia mary poppins scene was one of the worst things I've ever seen. Snoke was super powerful only to be killed suddenly. Cruiser hyperdriving into the other cruise was gangsta though.

Yeah the cruiser into that big star destroyer was cool. The only thing that annoyed me a little bit about that was how it sort of made it seem like they made that an option when the death stars were around so people then wonder "oh why didn't they just do that to the death stars?". But it was still cool nonetheless. We'll just say the shield generators from the deaths stars were too powerful for that to happen haha.
  • I’ll probably watch episodes 1-8 starting at late November and I’m going to watch 1 film a day.
Between 2 and 3, I’ll watch a few of my favorite arcs from the clone wars plus it’s movie, once I’m done with 3 I’ll watch solo and rogue one, then I’ll watch the first and last episodes of rebels. I’ll try to watch a little bit of the mandalorian and resistance once I’m done with 6,

    Also my favorite films
    1: A new hope
    2: revenge of the sith
3: rogue one(plz add R1 content in bf 2 dice)
  • My fav’s are the saga films. The anthologies (RO and Solo) are fine, but they don’t feel like Star Wars to me. Don’t get all the hate for the ST. As for my ranking of the saga films, I like all of them save AOTC, but I can tolerate it in a marathon.

    1. ESB
    2. SW
    3. TFA
    4. ROTJ
    5. ROTS
    6. TLJ
    7. TPM
    8. AOTC

I actually just finished a full rewatch of the movies. Went with release order. It's always how I've watched the films. final duel between Luke and Vader in RoTJ gets me every time. The music, wide camera shots and emotion in that scene never ceases to move me.

I'm pretty hyped for the new film.

I think JJ had to pick up the pieces after "Star Wars VIII: The Last Piece of Junk." I've watched episode 8 twice now and it did NOT get better the second time around. The alien cow milking is still gross. The lack of Luke in an epic long lightsaber battle like episode 3 is just plan insulting. The nonsense of the physics in the film of the bombers in space relying on gravity to drop the bombs. Marry Poppins Leia. The pointlessness of Holdo's death when an android could have ran controls.

No desire to rewatch the trilogies. Why should I care when Rian Johnson turned Luke into an attempted murderer and then kills him off in the second film. Disney killed off all my favorite characters... I'll watch the final film but they trashed Star Wars.

Did you like episode 8 @UNLIMITED_P0WER?

Yeah a lot of scenes dragged on, that casino planet was just a waste of time, Crait battle was awesome but didn't last as long as it should've. Leia mary poppins scene was one of the worst things I've ever seen. Snoke was super powerful only to be killed suddenly. Cruiser hyperdriving into the other cruise was gangsta though.

Oh man I had forgotten about the leia Mary Poppins haha that was the dumbest thing I've ever seen in star wars. She should of died then and that was that. Finn should also of died and destroyed the death star mini laser thing.

The dropping of the Bombs in space technically could follow physical laws. They weren't that far from the planet and gravity would still have a strong effect at that distance, and these ships don't seem to rely on "natural" gravity to maintain a steady orbit like our current space craft do. The star wars ships all seem to have the ability to position themselves in space and maintain their spacial coordinates regardless of most outside forces. So if they didn't have whatever technology is obviously holding them in place, then unless they acquired the sufficient horizontal velocity (relative to the planet's straight line surface), they would fall straight into the planet if they were in fact just stationary relative to the position of the planet. Meaning that anything not under the effect of these anti-gravity devices would also fall. Thus why the Bombs could fall in theory. However the dumb director also didn't consider the debris from exploded ships and how it just floats around. I suppose perhaps the Bombs could be "pushed" downwards by a mechanism in the racks that are holding them in place.

Other than the Bombs though, yeah I agree the Luke milking thing was disgusting and didn't feel like star wars at all. Holdo dying was also ridiculous. Although I'm glad she died. I didn't like her all that much. However all the characters could die at this point and I wouldn't care haha.

Oh you have absolutely no idea how much I dislike this movie. It's not even on the "Lore" side of things the movie simply makes no logical sense. In order for it to work it has to dumb characters down to the point that zombie movie protagonists have 300IQ compared to them.

I don't know how many rants I've made in KOG, I think I'm up to 55 quadrillion now

Oh of course they are possible. Just like the Atomic Bomb Football Grenade is

But who's going to make them?

  • The only scene i liked in TLJ was the praetorian guard battle that was the only exiting scene in the movie its like the battle that could've happened in the return of the jedi but luke didn't fight the red royal guards.

Yes, I reckon I'll be watching all the SW films in the correct order:
    1. Rogue One
    2. Episode IV
    3. Episode V
    4. Episode VI
    5. Episode VII
    6. Episode VIII

Then off to the cinema for The Rise of Skywalker. Looking forward to it.

    No prequel movies lol?
    The prequels are best forgotten.

I`ll take Maul,Plo Koon,Qui Gon, Shaak Ti,Grevious,Dooku, lightsaber wielding Palp and a ton more from the PT above anything offered in the ST, any day of the week :p

I`ll prolly watch E1,E2,Clone wars,E3,E4,5,6 and instead of watching E9 I`ll be spending my time playing through Kotor 1&2(restored edition) again along with the entire Kyle Katarn saga and finishing it off with watching The Mandalorian, hoping it wont be utterly soul crushing [Removed]

    Fav movies in order:
    E5 E6 E3 E4
Honorable mention to Clone Wars(animated) that imo has some of the best star wars content out there

Removed the comment about "SJW Propaganda" this kind of comment historically doesn't go down well and realistically is off topic to this thread so let's leave it out going forward please ~Rtas

Alright folks so I've removed a post or two in here and edited one. This thread isn't about your opinion on the sequel movies. If you want to discuss them you're welcome to make a thread to do so. Let's not derail this thread with that discussion please.

Lastly let's leave out comments like "SJW Propaganda" regardless of if you like the sequels or don't or if you agree with what's in them or not. Comments like this have historically not gone down well and tend to send a thread off topic or cause arguments.
