AT-STs need a change

Look, I generally don’t go on the forums asking for nerfs or buffs but recently the AT-STs have been getting on my nerves because they are so difficult to kill, most of the time your teammates have no idea what they are doing and never shoot it down and they just let them run around and destroy everyone and everything, not only that they are so op against saber and blaster hero’s the best bet you have is to run away but even that they eventually catch up to you and kill you without being able to do anything about it, it’s even worse if the person is tunnel visioning you. Also I noticed that they are one hit killing heroes with the anti hero missiles and one hit killing hero’s by stepping on them I don’t know about you guys but that’s ridiculous especially since they are fast and have great accuracy so I suggest that hero’s either have one of their abilities do some sort of damage to atsts cause their is no abilities that do anything or they just get nerfed as much as I don’t like that word

  • I'm in two camps on this:

    On one hand, on maps like Crait the AT ST is really powerful and can get you 1st place by a mile. They are very powerful. Same with the TX 130 ,on Naboo

    On the other hand, it's great fun using them and people are usually at fault for letting them run riot. When people bother shooting them they go down super fast. One good heavy player can take one down by themselves

    About hero's, the one hit kill missile bug is one I haven't experienced in a while but if it's there it certainly needs to go. Tbh I do think a tank should kill anyone if it runs them over. Obi wan himself said they would blast you into oblivion 😃

    Perhaps they would be less overly powerful in certain scenarios if they couldn't fully regenerate their health

    You should just give up on this game IF you somehow believe a Force user or Blaster Hero should be immune to being stepped on and killed by an object with that kind of mass.
    It's pathetic how people complain about the AT-ST being too OP and yet neither the AT-ST cannon nor it's missile cause Starfighters to magically fly into the ground like wait for it, the Vanguard Shotgun (yeah, that's realistic for sure, right?!), or various other guns that cause your Starfighter to go from flying perfectly straight to somehow making an absurd 90 degree downward turn into the land because it was hit by a mere blaster or shotgun.
    AT-ST are VERY EASY to kill with a Heavy armed with Ion Torpedoes (2 I.T. shots to the exposed critical systems on its back almost destroy it completely) & Ion Turret, a good Specialist player armed with an NT-242 Disruptor Shot, or even an Assault trooper armed with a Smart Ion Grenade & Ion Shot CR-2. Even those fragile V-4X-D Ski Speeders on Crait will take them out when you target the aforementioned critical systems.
    Bad teammates? Yeah, tell the community something they don't already know.
    Do you know when the AT-ST was too OP? Way back when Ion Torpedo was the WORST Star Card as it practically did no DMG and had only ONE missile round.
    Hell, first people complained how the AT-ST was too expensive when they were 2k BP (just like so many did with the H&V being 6k BP), and now they are somehow too inexpensive.
    This is yet another reason why I'm so glad that my PS+ Membership runs out on the 21st of Nov. because instead of simply getting better and learning readily available tactics you take to this board and complain that something is too OP.

  • Yes. Run away. Don't get stepped on. It only makes sense, if you have seen any of the movies.

    Your problem is hero entitlement. As a hero, you are not entitled to just wreck everything with impunity.

    It would be so boring to be a hero if there were dangers. You still need to utilize team work.

    During this event I have chosen to play my lesser heroes, Chewie and Leia. The both of them just wreck the atst.

    Those blaster heroes are not really great at close combat like sabers however.

    Instead of blaming your team for not taking out the vehicles, try a different approach.

    Either pick someone who can deal with them or avoid them.

    Please, do explain to me how vehicles on any map of GA other than Geonosis & Kashyyyk actually have an impact on the entirety of the Final phase? The AT-ST on Jakku can ONLY access 1 of the Resistance Transport objectives, while the AT-ST on Tatooine can't access the interior of the hangar (TIE Fighter and TIE Bomber are not a constant as they eventually time out). I won't bother waiting for your non-reply.
    Yeah, lightsabers are a close quarters weapon but one can very easily (due to how buggy this game is) have an insane reach capable of killing targets that are not even near your lightsaber, or even H&V who are at their highest jump point when your then ground based V/H are steadily swinging away their lightsaber.
    You can kill an AT-ST with a Hero. Don't believe me? Just try getting better with a lightsaber and time your jump attacks. It can be done, & I'm not the only one who can attest to this fact. Is it an easy task? No. Should it be an easy take? No. Is it mostly a pointless endeavor that can very easily get you killed? Yes.
    I'm good at this game, which means I don't rely solely on any one unit. I main as the Officer because it's the best basic TEAM support unit. I go whole games (even during a lame event like HU) without playing as a H/V, and I'll have 10s of thousands of battle points, too!
    I play according to the maps, game flow, and the ever so constant hindrance of terrible teammates that end up on my team in nearly every single match (being how I don't play in parties).
    Hell, I'll even respawn at times when I'm a 100% full health Hero/Villain to select wait for it, one of the basic troop units that can more effectively deal with certain game situations. After all, I play to win the game.
    Vehicle spammer? Okay. Please do provide me with your PS4 handle so that I can attempt to find you in a GA lobby, and from there I'll be more than happy to eliminate you with any and every non-vehicle/non-starfighter unit in the game.

    DICE nerfed the AT-ST missile so it no longer OHK for heroes.

    So this thread is just another nerf whatever kills my hero thread because of bad teammates and not knowing how to counter vehicles. 😴

  • AT-STs are fine. What’s not fine is people’s unwillingness to play any role other than that of a hero. I experience it regularly when I play heroes, especially on phase 2 Tatooine and Crait. I generally find that if I have a hero, nobody deals with the tanks.

    So I don’t pick heroes in places where vehicles are problematic any more. I use the Heavy with Ion Torp and Turret and pick up the slack. AT-ST management has since become one of my favorite jobs in the game, and I don’t miss playing the hero at all in those situations.

    AT-STs don’t need a nerf. Players need to be unselfish and provide the function their team needs in the moment.
