Can defenders cool it with the squad shields?
Too many times I've been shooting at an enemy only to be saved by one of my officers putting down a shield in a doorway and allow them to swarm in without taking damage because they apparently thought we could shoot through it and the enemy couldn't even enter it. Can we spread the word about how to correctly use the squad shield? It is used to protect teammates from harm, not enemies. But it in zones and on objectives when attacking to give yourself some help, not while defending and make it harder to defend it without being directly on top of it. THIS is how you use a squad shield properly. I'm starting to get ever-so-slightly annoyed by having to shoot a friendly shield so I can do my job correctly.

Blame the game. They're terribly designed. They just didn't have any good ideas honestly. The entire officer kit is not well thought out tbh.

I have a feeling you’re an Xmas newbie that hasn’t even had a chance to play the game before joining the “garbage!” train on the forums.
@Darth_Cerebus It’s the new guys. They don’t know yet, so teach them, in game chat. Works better than you’d expect.
Doing this as well :P
I’m a Christmas noob but even I get annoyed when people drop a squad shield on my firing line. I do love the game though (hint...I gave it a chance)

Anyway, it isn't obvious how best to use the Squad Shield. I was a little lost when I first started, as I didn't play the first SWBF1. Just remember that the new players are simply trying to help their teammates by shielding them. You should be happy you have Officers trying to learn to use support abilities instead of going the way of our Rambo Blurrg brethren.
the squad shield is actually pretty good if you actually know how to use it. now the turret on the other hand is a different story all its good for is letting you know if a enemy is near by when it makes that little noise other ways it seems pretty useless.
It's good for blowing up your teammates too!
waiting for someone to run by the turret and detonating it is always fun.

I actually think the turret got fixed in the TLJ patch, even though it was undocumented. A dev mentioned beforehand that it had a bug with the idle animation and locking on, and I have noticed that it seems much better now. I have even completed the "Good Luck Turret" achievement since then. If you place it well, it can actually do pretty decently.
For example, there are a couple of spots you can place it while defending the Junkyard on Tatooine that actually can net you kills all by itself. They will eventually respawn and kill it, but it just goes to show that you can be sneaky with it.
It certainly isn't a powerhouse, and the developers stated that it is not meant to be.
or drop it on a choke hold so the att can push threw while you shoot at a shield .
far and few i seen them when on the Att side they drop it on the obj to help protect the button masher even seen Leia use it O.O
I do the exact same thing. Hero or otherwise.
I know bro, so do I. I was talking about his comment on how the officer clas was designed.
It surprises heavies and the annoying green laser vehicle.
Still is weak against LAATs though.
Yeah a player popped squad shield as I was trying to extend overtime and all my grenades bounced off and away from Luke who was clearly in my sights with his back turned.
I raged a little.
That is easily the worst place for the Defenders to put one and actually the reason why I brought this up. It allowed way to many of them to flood in
