Starfighter Assault Reinforcement Idea's.

If you play Starfighter Assault you know that we need other ships to spend our reinforcements on if all the hero ships are taken. I'm going to give some ideas for each era except for the Resistance and First Order because that's kind of limited right now.

Clone Wars Era:

Clone Army could have the Clone Z-95 Headhunter Starfighter and the Naboo N-1 Starfighter.

CLONE Z-95 STARFIGHTER
Though an outdated starfighter, the Z-95 boasts endurance and adaptability. The clone pilots of the Galactic Republic used the Z-95 Headhunter during the Clone Wars. A multi-purpose starfighter, the Z-95 has spawned countless variants, with the Republic making its own mark on the Headhunter's large production run with a clone trooper-specific model. The Z-95 is largely recognized as a respectable and versatile snub-fighter of its era, and was the forerunner of the incredibly successful X-wing starfighter.

Look at this thing. Who wouldn't want to fly such a cool ship?

mh06lkhye6an.jpeg

Its abilities could be Proton Torpedoes, Afterburner and an Ion Cannon.

NABOO N-1 STARFIGHTER
Protecting the skies and space around Naboo is the N-1 starfighter. Its sleek design exemplifies the philosophy of art and function witnessed throughout Naboo technology. Its twin radial J-type engines are capped in gleaming chrome and trail long delicate-looking finials behind the ship's single-pilot compartment. Behind the pilot sits a standard astromech droid, plugged into an abbreviated, ventrally-fed socket which requires the droid to compress slightly in order to fit within the vessel's curves. The fighter features twin blaster cannons, twin fire-linked torpedo launchers, and a capable automatic pilot feature.

8gtuoypmhqdz.jpeg

Beautifully made. It is one of the most beautiful ships in the galaxy. But don't let that fool you. It is also very deadly! It's abilities are already in the game and they are the following: Astromech Repair. Dual Proton Torpedoes and also Weapon Overcharge.

Separatist Army could have the Belbullab-22 Starfighter and Magnaguard Fighter a.k.a. Rogue-class Starfighter.

phllt7ftzbkm.jpeg

Its design comes with two rapid-firing triple laser cannons that quickly cool and cycle energy, giving the ship a devastating fire-rate.

It's abilities could be a Forward Scanner that reveals all enemy ships in front of you that are detected in the scan. A Shield Generator and Auxiliary Thrusters for improved speed for a few seconds.

MAGNAGUARD FIGHTER
Formally known as Rogue-class starfighters, these ships had bulbous cockpits and heavy laser cannons on both wings. They were often flown by specially programmed MagnaGuards, but Separatist leaders and hirelings could also be found behind the stick.

mvrrimojsrqr.jpeg

This ship is fairly large and slow but it packs a punch. It's abilities would include Quad Concussion Missle's. Improved Cooling to primary Blaster fire and a Missle Lock on jammer that disrupts enemy lock-ons for a short period of time.

Original Trilogy Era:

The Rebellion has to have the B-Wing in this game. The second fighter could be the Cutlass-9 Patrol fighter or also known as the Sorosuub Patrol Fighter.

B-WING FIGHTER
Perhaps the oddest-looking starfighter in the Rebel Alliance fleet, the B-wing fighter is as powerful as it is ungainly. The ship's structure is almost entirely taken up by its primary airfoil, which houses a cylindrical cockpit on one end, an engine cluster in the center, and a heavy weapons pod at its base. Located just below the engine cluster are a pair of S-foils which can deploy to extend the firing arc of twin laser cannons. The B-wing's command pod has a unique gyroscopic control system. The pilot can orient it so that it always stays level with a horizon line. No matter which way the B-wing may maneuver laterally, its pilot remains upright.

axofh9dqa4zt.jpeg

This is one of the most iconic Starfighters in Star Wars and a must to be added.

Its abilities would include the following: Proton Torpedoes. Afterburner And Quad Laser Barrage allowing lasers to be fired simultaneously for a few seconds.

The Cutlass-9 was formerly made during the Clone Wars and stopped productions shortly after the war ended. However, the production resumed when Sorosuub began covertly aiding the Rebel Alliance after they seceded from Galactic Empire. Soon, the Cutlass-9 fighter became part of the Rebel fleet.

o13hop750awy.jpg

The abilities would include Concussion Middles. Afterburner and Laser Barrage.

The Empire also has to have the TIE Defender and I think it's a must to be in this game. Also we have the TIE Advanced v1s (also seen flying by the Grand Inquistor)

TIE DEFENDER
The TIE defender is an experimental fighter of the TIE series, armed with heavy cannons and shields, and is equipped with a hyperdrive. A major weapon for the Empire, the TIE defender proves much more difficult to destroy than standard TIE fighters.

7j1567vd20an.jpeg

The TIE Defender is a fast hard-hirting ship that isn't meant to be taken down so easily. The abilities would include as mentioned above except with hyperdrive (for obvious reasons). The abilities would be Heavy Cannons which allows the ship to do increased damage for a few seconds. A Shield Generator. And also an Afterburner.

TIE ADVANCED PROTOTYPE
Tasked personally by Darth Vader with a mission to destroy all children of the Force, the Inquisitor was given access to the Empire's latest technologies. The Inquisitor's TIE Advanced prototype was superior to typical TIE fighters, featuring faster engines, S-foils with more efficient solar gather panels, upgraded laser cannons, and a projectile launcher that fired Imperial XX-23 S-Thread Tracers.

vzar7sv0uypp.jpeg

This ship isn't one to take lightly. It might of only been a prototype but it didn't battle like one. It's abilities would be as follows: Afterburner. Laser Barrage and also a Scan that keeps track of your foes for a certain amount of time.

What do you guys think? Personally I love Starfighter Assault and I know a lot of people do so I would like to see more ships be added outside of Hero ships. It would make the mode that much better and really make the skies feel full and would add to the overall amazing feeling Starfighter Assault offers.

Me too. I was hoping they would be. Same with the TIE Defenders but they will make a perfect Reinforcement.

I don't know what the deal with this thing is yet, but considering it appears to have a heavy laser turret and otherwise design sensibilities close to the TIE/sa (Bomber) I'm thinking this would be a decent equivalent to a B-Wing from a purely speculative standpoint.

Yeah that would be. We don't know much about it yet at the moment so I didn't include it. I wanted to have the TIE Striker because that thing is awesome but it is an in-atmosphere Fighter and doesn't have much capability to fight in space.

Absolutely need enforcer starfighters in my opinion. I created a Starfighter Assault thread a week or so ago and the most popular thing listed was enforcer class.

Yep I agree. I tried to make each ship for each Faction one that was hard hitting like an Enforcer and the other Fast and Deadly but not as much of a brute.

That looks like it might be a new varient of the old canon TIE Vanguard which helped lead squadrons through treachous conditions with advanced scanning arrays. If I’m right I’m glad they beefed it up this time around.

I considered those 2 but figured the ones i picked would be more likely of a possibility.

  • True especially since the N-1 is already modeled and in-game and the Z-95 has such a cool slim profile. I think they may reserve the Belbullab-22 for Grievous’ Soulless One though. What about the Kom’rk-class gauntlet fighter?d3cs7dnsgjdr.png

Could we not also use Jedi Starfighters as enforcers? I know Yoda has one, but his is meant to be heavily modified, so having a less agile, weaker and less crowd controlling version shouldn't be an issue.
Think Tallie Lintra, Luke Skywalker, Poe Dameron and Iden Versio, they are all just beefed up versions of the standard fighters/interceptors.

Yes I was contemplating this one. It is a really cool ship. Although it was used with clan Viszla it wasn't specifically used by the Droids or Separatists. The Mandalorians were the ones who used it mainly. That is why I went with the Belbullab-22 and Magnaguard Fighter.

As Grievous' Soulles One was a Belbullab-22, it was heavily modified and looked differently. But keeping it reserved for Grievous is a possibility.

If we get more Jedi added like Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Mace Windu, then we will have plenty of Jedi Starfighters. I don't think DICE would add a Jedi Starfighter without having someone specifically flying it.

If we get more Jedi added like Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Mace Windu, then we will have plenty of Jedi Starfighters. I don't think DICE would add a Jedi Starfighter without having someone specifically flying it.

Fair point, I just think they'd make for a good reinforcement/enforcer unit as they'd obviously be too strong to be a standard interceptor, but not quite strong enough to be a hero unit as Yoda's is heavily modified, and not every Jedi is going to be as strong as Yoda or Luke for example.
  • Anyone else feel like a timed reinforcement like a turbolaser would be a good idea?

Not only could it be helpful when defending points, but it also could be useful at destroying corvettes and other larger bonus ships the attackers get.

  • Tie Phantoms are neat. I would like to fly a Lambda-class shuttle most. I always thought they were neat.

Can maybe get some more ideas from here.

I miss Bwings a lot, great deal of thought and consideration went into this.

  • I love this idea having reinforcements in SA. Besides the ships brought up in this post what does everyone think about manning turrets that surround an objective for some Battlepoints?

Yes, for an amount of battlepoints I think being in some sort of turret defending an objective on a timer could be quite fun.

  • starfighter assault will never be good until tie defenders are added
Many of the arguments we have about this game would not exist if this was a single player focused game like it should have been since day 1.
  • If you play Starfighter Assault you know that we need other ships to spend our reinforcements on if all the hero ships are taken.

I agree with all but the Republic having the N1, should be replaced with V19 Torrent and Sepratists shouldnt have the B-22 as a reinforcement but as a General Greivous Hero Starfighter.
    Other than that great job
442nd And 332nd are the BEST

Glad you shared that. Had some good ideas. I like the TIE Phantom too. It is a pretty cool ship but I don't know how likely it would be to get added along with the Lambda shuttle since that is more if a transport instead of a fighter.

  • Very nice concept! I was going to create a new thread with this topic, but then I saw this and mate, you just reflect my ideas perfectly.
B-Wings should be definitely in the game, they have such a great design. And, as you said, the TIE Defender would be its perfect counterpart. Man, I want a Starfighter DLC so bad!
Also, I would LOVE to see these as reinforcements, with high health and controlled by multiple players:

I think they may reserve the Belbullab-22 for Grievous’ Soulless One though.
As Grievous' Soulles One was a Belbullab-22, it was heavily modified and looked differently. But keeping it reserved for Grievous is a possibility.
I was going to say, I don't remember the Belbullab-22 bring used by anyone but Grievous. The only time we ever saw one was in his use as his personal ship. The old Pandemic Battlefront II from 2005 mistakenly had it as the CIS bomber, but we know better now.

@Seastorm Thanks for the nice words!

As for those ships mentioned, yes those would be awesome to have. Especially get your squad in there with them. Definitely would be fun.

Now I want to mention I made a thread before this one back in December of the CIS HMP Battleship that can be added for the CIS under the Artillery Reinforcement like the LAAT. I have been thinking about making a new and updated thread of that but all I would be adding is an Empire side Artillery one since the U-wing and the LAAT are in the game already and I detailed the HMP Gunship so I elected not to. At least as of right now.

And what would be the imperial artillery reinforcement?
Because all I can think of is the TIE Reaper, I don’t know if there’s an equivalent of the LAAT in the Empire.

The TIE Reaper was a pretty good choice. The one I had in mind would be the Imperial Transport/Gunship. It has 2 laser cannons and 1 tail laser cannon. It is also equipped with 2 missle launchers. Here is an image of it for those who might not be sure what it looks like.
