Probably an unpopular HvV request here...
...but I would love to see some form of penalty implemented for quitting out early in HvV. Other modes are fine, but for HvV, its one of the many things that is making the mode unpopular.
Nothing more annoying than waiting for the lobby to fill up for 5 minutes or so, only to get in the game, one team gets a couple of kills and suddenly its 1 or 2v4. Obvious issue would be those who lag out, but 99% of leavers are blatant rage quitters. I mean, a few night back I was playing and we were winning about 10-6, magically 3 members of the opposition vanish. The last one goes not long after that. So we waited 5-10 minutes for that?!
I know a penalty couldnt be too harsh as it would scare players off completely, but credits or crafting parts loss would be fine surely? Or even not allowing you to quit out until the match ends?
Plenty of times my team has been losing too, but I've stayed and fought, looked at scoreboard and realised its me vs 4, or me and one other. Its frustrating.
Any thoughts?

Had this last night a couple of times where the opposition only had 1 or 2 players.
Not sure what a fair penalty would be but there should be a deterrent for leaving the game early.
Another thing that gets me is waiting in the lobby for 5 minutes to have a player join just as another gives up and then have to wait another 5 minutes. A notification would be good saying that a playing is coming in.
Often what happens is the team that lose the first encounter get split up by the spawn system and it goes downhill from there.
Novice players run head first and alone into the enemy team to assist their team mates and by the time they get there their team mates have been killed and its them alone vs the enemy team. Of course the player gets gangbanged.
Rinse and repeat. Then they quit after a couple of cycles of this.
Maybe a smart spawn system that gave the losing side a slight spawn advantage would help.
Or increase the team numbers as more Heroes and Villains get added with DLC.
Not had it yet where all players left. Im assuming you are just stuck in play unable to finish until more players turn up?
In the other modes it's not as important, but in HvV where it's 4v4 every person counts

Oh yeah, I hate that when the countdown starts and then someone decides no...
That's a good idea with spawns and could go towards it. As it is, no-one waits to regroup and then everyone quits!
Exactly.
The teams get split up after death, no squad respawn, which basically destroys a pug team, and this, and this alone, is the reason why I don't like to pug HvV.
I think you got it right. Its the player count and spawn system. For a team mode - its lonely as heck.
Must be my charm mate
As for the false starts before the game begins, I bet if they didn't show the score from the previous round we'd have less dropouts. If a player joins and sees his teammates are getting 1-2 kills against their opponents 20+ they may not stick around. Of course if they did this it'd be harder to sport AFK farmers, because you know if you see a player with zero kills but 1,200 score they either suck or were AFK.
Yeah they get no credits mate for leaving. Just an annoyance how it then impacts on the game for everyone else. A warning that they are leaving or about to leave would at least highlight when your team will go a person down.
There should definitely be some kind of penalty for quitting midmatch-just for HvV though. HvV is the only mode where every single team member is crucial to winning, losing just one person can sometimes make it nearly impossible to win. It's annoying when you just want to get one decent match in and that doesn't even happen
The servers keep going dead too after waiting long periods in the lobby from constant leavers which is also annoying. It forces you to quit and rejoin the mode which of course qutting and joining take forever as it is.

Has this time out idea been implemented in any other games? How did it work there?
the only game i can think of is cs:go comp mode, a game i don't play
I'm not sure. What does it entail?
I sometimes duck out before the start if it's a map I dislike (I had Takodana 3 times in a row last night, can't stand it) or if I check the previous round and detect the whiff of some suspicious tryhards. I saw a nerd with 34 kills on the opposition the other night, my team-mates all had 2-3 kills. That ain't a good sign. Loss of credits is punishment enough.
Bf 2015 had the option to see who's coming into the game. So many simple features taken out of this game. Like that and the ability to buy stuff for your cards without having to go to the main menu
Penalties would be fine ... but understand that people aren't always leaving because of whimsical reasons.
"We're not seeing a lot of issues with HvV games not starting quickly enough and we believe in getting the entire team lined up for both sides before kicking off the action. If this becomes a widespread issue we'll of course reevaluate."
Yeah that wasnt what I wanted to hear. Its just annoying when people leave a couple of deaths in
If I'm reading this right, that means there is no chance of a player that leaves being replaced.
Sad part is there are times I've done better on my own after my 3 useless team mates have left.
I also had a 2v4 where we came back after the other 2 stopped burning points (still lost, but we turned a 6 point deficit to 3)

That's not true. I've been back filled into existing games plenty of times, and had others fill vacant spots on a team. The above statement probably only applies to unfilled lobbies waiting to start a game.
Well there's absolutely no doubt that matchmaking is broke it is probably the top priority now for me.
I think I was placed into a game once. I've never seen a player replace 1 who left.
Pirate of the Knights of Gareth
Maybe it's less reliable on the Xbox? On the PC it hasn't been much of an issue. Although if a player leaves there's no guarantee they'll be replaced, and that's frequently the case.
It could be platform specific.
All the complaints about being short after quitters makes me think it doesn't refill often.
Pirate of the Knights of Gareth
True, closer matches would hopefully stop quitting
ive joined teams down a person and can often come back and win
You were meant to destroy the quitters, not join them!
Also, shortly after I replied earlier I started playing HvV. In my first match I encountered one of those "rubber band on the controller" type players where they do something to keep them from being kicked... IN HvV! This person must have jammed something slightly into the analog stick so they just slowly sidestepped the whole time. What a *****... :-/
It's definitely happening a lot more since the patch, I think you're right.
It is the only mode that force spawn you if you don't hit anything after a death.
Pirate of the Knights of Gareth
Well that makes sense then, thanks.
So if they made us hit something to spawn in, it should solve the issue on console at least.
Pirate of the Knights of Gareth
pretty much
